Tonight, Carly Rae Jepsen could conceivably beat Frank Ocean and One Direction for Best New Artist. Taylor Swift may very well bring a chorus of Kennedys to sing backup when she performs a top-secret song from her new album. And 2 Chainz might wear more than two chains around his neck.

Truly, anything is possible at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards. That’s why EW’s Adam Markovitz and Darren Franich will be live-blogging the whole event to make sure no miniature pop-culture milestone goes unremarked. Tune in to the VMAs pre-show at 7 pm ET and come back to this post at 7:30 for our expert commentary, complete with trivia, snap-judgment polls and a deep philosophical debate about the semantics of Rihanna’s “Cockiness.” See you there!

Beyoncé’s pulling double duty this evening. While headlining the Glastonbury Festival out in England, she’ll be on TV Stateside for the 2011 BET Awards and a simulcast performance. Other A-list celebs with a considerably less stressful Sunday night planned will hit the stage as well.

Will Chris Brown top last year’s show-stealing tribute to Michael Jackson? Will Kelly Rowland outshine her Destiny’s Child bestie? Will host, comedian Kevin Hart, actually be funny? And can the tough guy rappers he’ll likely pick on take a joke? We’ll find out tonight while, of course, weighing in on every last bit of it.

Join us this evening for our 2011 BET Awards coverage live-blog. We, along with the good folks at Essence, will be covering the red carpet from 7pm to 8pm EST. Then stick around for the whole crazy show, which kicks off at 8pm EST. See you then!

ACM Awards: We're live-blogging 'em!

ACM-Awards

How many reaction shots will we get of presenter Robert Pattinson? What will cohost Blake Shelton do to warrant his preemptive apology? How many trophies will top nominee Miranda Lambert take home, and will they include one for Entertainer of the Year? Find out tonight when the ACM Awards air live on CBS at 8 p.m. ET. Below, join me — and my 63-year-old mother, Joyce, who belongs to Josh Turner’s fan club and once told him “I love your voice, and the rest of you isn’t bad either” — for the play-by-play. (I apologize in advance as well.)

American Music Awards: We live-blogged it!

Editor’s note: What a night! The live blog has ended, but you can relive every spiky shoulderpadded moment of this year’s AMAs by clicking PLAY in the widget below (careful, West Coasters, spoilers abound!). Want more AMA coverage? Check back in a few hours to see photo galleries of the night’s best and worst performances and red carpet fashions.

One doesn’t so much watch the American Music Awards to see who wins. Instead, we watch to drown our sorrows in the vast spectacle of everything that’s hot in popular music coming together on one giant light-up stage, reminding us that life is in fact worth living, so long as we are moving our hips like yeah. (Our thoughts are with you and your touring family, Miley. xoxo)

Janet Jackson will be opening the show and, most likely, picking up several of her late brother’s awards over the course of the night (he’s up for five Stabby Trophies of Death™). Adam Lambert, who many people seem to enjoy, will be closing things out (for your entertainment). And we’re here for the duration, blogging on it all live, in conjunction with our pals at PeopleStyleWatch.com.

Your live blog hosts: Michele Romero and Chad Schlegel of EW and Melissa Liebling-Goldberg of PeopleStyleWatch.com are riffing on the telecast, and they’ll be joined by Whitney Pastorek of EW from backstage at the Nokia Theater in L.A. It’s so on; let’s go!
