LMFAO is breaking up, sort of

Where were you when the party-rocking stopped?

LMFAO‘s Redfoo told the AP that he and his partner-slash-nephew Sky Blu are taking a bit of a break.

Redfoo says he and Sky Blu — who is not only his bandmate but also blood relative — will be splitting for a while, giving each of them more time to, um, do whatever it is people named Redfoo and Sky Blu do in their spare time.

“I feel like we’ve been doing this for so long, five or six years.” Redfoo said in the interview. “And we’re kind of like saying, well, let’s just do what’s natural and just kind of explore that, instead of, like, forcing it all the time.”

He went on to note that the pair are going in “different directions” creatively.

“I think that we naturally just started hanging with two different sets of people, two different crowds, but we’re always family,” he said. “He’ll always be my nephew, I’ll always be his uncle.” Which is good, because we were beginning to worry there’d be an awkward Thanksgiving at Berry Gordy‘s house this year!  READ FULL STORY

Lebron James raps with LMFAO on stage in Miami -- VIDEO

Win your first NBA title. Average an ungodly near triple double en route to being named Finals MVP. Wear a T-shirt with your own face on it while rapping on stage with LMFAO.

Otherwise known as: Just another 24 hours in the life of LeBron James.

Nearly two years after a decision that made him the sports world’s biggest villain and just one year after a humiliating defeat to the Dallas Mavericks in the 2011 Finals, LeBron’s stock is once more skyrocketing. After turning in a virtuoso game 5-clinching performance last night against the Oklahoma City Thunder, James headed to the LIV Miami night club at the Fontainebleau hotel, where he, Dwayne Wade, and the crew partied until the wee hours of Friday morning.

Check out the video below to find James — decked out in a Kanye West-influenced shirt bearing LeBron’s own vampire likeness — trading verses with LMFAO.

Our advice?  Stick to doing work on the court, LeBron.  We already know how the baller-turned-rapper gig turns out. Not pretty. But hey, we’ll give you a pass on your big night: READ FULL STORY

Just a couple of sensitive guys, hanging out in a rainy basement in Portland, plunking away on acoustic guitars. Just kidding!

Two of pop music’s most relentless party bros, Flo Rida and LMFAO’s RedFoo, have collaborated on the song “Run,” slated to appear on Rida’s already hit-packed July album Wild Ones. There’s even an unofficial, summer-screaming visual for the club-bumper — a bikini-clad babe running down the beach. Somebody call the Hoff!

2012 Billboard Music Awards: 20 essential takeaways from the show

Like most music awards shows, the Billboard Music Awards are so not about the statuettes that are doled out. The show — which aired live last night on ABC from the MGM Grand Hotel, with hosts, Modern Family stars Julie Bowen and Ty Burrell — is typically more about everything but the awards: performances, tributes, collaborations, and other sundry craziness.

Hell, even the fashion — hello to Miley Cyrus’ barely-there suit jacket — is more important than the prizes! And that was no different this year. Just a handful of the 46 awards were actually given out during the show (LMFAO dominated), which was jolted to life with performances from Katy Perry, Cee Lo Green, and Linkin Park; tributes to Robin Gibb, Donna Summer, Whitney Houston, the Beastie Boys’ Adam Yauch, and Stevie Wonder; a collaboration between Stevie Wonder and Alicia Keys; and a heartfelt speech by Houston’s daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown.

Here are 20 essential takeaways from the evening:

Adele dominates Billboard Music Awards with 12 wins: See full list of winners here

The 2012 Billboard Music Awards were doled out last night during a live telecast from the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas that was broadcast on ABC and hosted by the network’s Modern Family stars Ty Burrell and Julie Bowen.

Of course, much like the Grammys, just a fraction of the 46 awards were given out during the show, which — also like the Grammys — played more like a concert. Although she wasn’t in attendance at the show, Adele dominated with 12 awards, followed by LMFAO with six awards and Lil Wayne and Coldplay with four each.

The full list of 2012 Billboard Music Award winners is as follows:

Adele, LMFAO, and Rihanna lead Billboard Music Award finalists

Adele_240.jpg

Fresh off their name-checks in the Time 100, Adele and Rihanna have more kudos to brag about. They’re leading the pack of Billboard Music Awards nominees, along with Lady Gaga, LMFAO, and Lil Wayne. Adele scored 18 nods — including Top Artist, Top Female Artist, and Top Billboard 200 Artist — off the mega-sales of her album 21 and its lead single “Rolling in the Deep.” “Party Rockers” LMFAO will be in the house behind thanks to 17 nods. Rihanna could win up to 13 trophies, and Lady Gaga and Lil Wayne could be walking home with a lot of hardware, after netting 10 nods apiece. Usual suspects like Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Coldplay, Nicki Minaj, and Bruno Mars are also among the pool of finalists. You can view the full list here.

'We Are Young' band fun. leap to No. 3 on the Hot 100, Whitney Houston re-enters at No. 7

fun_320.jpg

In early December, EW’s own Tim Stack predicted that New York rock trio fun. was about to have a major moment, thanks to a special episode-ending performance on Glee of their relatively unknown song “We Are Young,” featuring Janelle Monae.

And our psychic friend was right! The song instantly topped the iTunes chart and bubbled around in the lower half of the Hot 100 for a few weeks. But few prognosticators could have predicted that the band would have a week like this.

In the first full frame since the Super Bowl, during which Chevrolet premiered a well-received Sonic commercial (watch it below) that prominently uses “We Are Young,” the song jumped from No. 41 all the way to No. 3 on Billboard‘s Hot 100. The youth anthem led the digital sales chart with 296,000 downloads (a 338 percent increase) — the best week-long tally of any song this year.

Between this and Kelly Clarkson’s Camry ad boost, it seems like car commercials are the new secret to Hot 100 domination: READ FULL STORY

TV Jukebox: 'House,' 'Pretty Little Liars,' 'One Tree Hill,' and more music-on-TV moments

Even though love songs account for about 90 percent of the market (a statistic I just made up as I listened to Adele and Snow Patrol on repeat), it’s been a while since we had a good line-up of serious heart flutterers here on TV Jukebox. From a rain-soaked reunion (Pretty Little Liars) to a synchronized swimming-themed proposal (Glee), it was a good week for all things gushy and gooey. Some were searching for love (Private Practice, Happy Endings), while others were letting it go (Gossip Girl, The Secret Circle).

Of course, that doesn’t mean there wasn’t room for a some rumbling (Teen Mom 2), reconciliation (House), revenge (Hell on Wheels), strip club shenanigans (One Tree Hill, CSI), and straight-up struttin’ (House of Lies). All of which is without mentioning the most disturbing use of ’80s soft rock to come down the pipeline is quite some time. Thanks for that, Criminal Minds! See our latest picks below. (Warning for those still catching up on DVR: SPOILERS ahead!) READ FULL STORY

Madonna's Super Bowl performance will feature LMFAO, says will.i.am

There are only nine days left until the Super Bowl, which means the window for placing party sub orders and making dignity-sacrificing bets is swiftly closing. While the game itself will likely be relatively dull (people often forget that the last time these two teams met in the Super Bowl, it was pretty deadly for three quarters), but there is already plenty of news leaking out about the big-money commercials that will be airing and also about Madonna’s much-anticipated halftime show.

Little is known about the actual content of the show itself, though we do know that it will feature Madonna. There was a set list floating around the Internet a few weeks ago that suggested it would consist of both new tunes and classic tracks from throughout her career. (That list was never verified.) It is likely that she will be joined by both Nicki Minaj and M.I.A. for a run through their new collaboration. Another source has The Voice star Cee-Lo Green making an appearance during the show. And the whole thing will apparently be bringing both pom-poms and “the gay.”

If Green, M.I.A., and Minaj all join forces with Madonna, that will make the stage awfully crowded. But according to will.i.am, Madonna is also making room for “Sexy and I Know It” hitmakers LMFAO. READ FULL STORY
