Justin Timberlake gets his style on in official 'Suit and Tie' lyric video: Watch here

The black-and-white lyric video for Justin Timberlake’s “Suit & Tie” is so well produced, with so many nifty design elements, that it’s hard to believe it’s not the outright actual music video.

Like the song itself, the clip is centered around sartorial affairs, with the ever-dapper JT making his way through L.A. and slipping into an improbably more elegant outfit. The kid cleans up nice!

Watch Timberlake fix up, look sharp in the video below:

New Orleans Jazz Fest lineup includes Fleetwood Mac, Maroon 5, Billy Joel, Frank Ocean

The year is not even a month old, but it’s already time to make your Spring and Summer festival plans. Coachella’s lineup should be announced shortly, but in the meantime, we can take a look at the always-eclectic batch of artists who will make their way to the Big Easy at the end of April.

The 2013 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival runs from April 26-28 and May 2-5 and features a wide-reaching list of headline-worthy names: the reconstituted Fleetwood Mac, Frank Ocean, Billy Joel, Maroon 5, Dave Matthews Band, Phoenix, the Black Keys, John Mayer (who just returned to the stage for the first time in nearly two years last night), B.B. King, and Hall & Oates. Jazz Fest is one of those everything-all-the-time festivals, so if you want to have an all-blues experience, that’s possible, but if you’re also just into jazz or zydeco or blue-eyed soul, you can have that experience too. And if you’re only into indie rock, Band of Horses is there to soothe what ails you.

Of course, there’s also the “Heritage” part of the festival, so essentially everybody in New Orleans who owns a drum will also be appearing on a stage somewhere. Those Treme extras will be rounded out by legends like Dr. John, Trombone Shorty, Allen Toussaint, the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, and dozens of others. Check out the entirety of the list here.

Tickets are on sale now. Who in this lineup are you most excited about?

Seven years ago, Justin Timberlake brought sexy back. This time around, he’s bringing sales back.

According to Billboard, ”Suit & Tie,” Timerberlake’s Jay-Z-assisted single that showed up on iTunes on Monday, could move as many as 350,000 downloads in its first week of release. That would top the opening week sales of his most successful digital single, “SexyBack,” by nearly 100,000. READ FULL STORY »

Destiny's Child's 'Nuclear': Hear the group's first single in ten years here!

In the music business, as in Hollywood, January is generally not known for blockbuster entertainment moments.

So far in 2013, though we’re expecting the arrival of new music by Justin Timberlake, diving into a brand new David Bowie song, and cranking up the beyond-excellent album by A$AP Rocky. So far, 2013′s musical cup runneth over.

But the biggest news so far belongs (as it so often does) to Beyoncé, who not only has a new solo album on tap and a Super Bowl halftime headlining gig to prep, but also promised the first new Destiny’s Child single in eons.

That song, produced by Pharrell, was co-written by Michelle Williams, is called “Nuclear,” though that explosive adjective may not be quite what you have in mind when you listen to this low-key R&B jam; listen below: READ FULL STORY »

Destiny's Child to perform at the Super Bowl -- REPORT

Well, that was fast: Just one day after the indigestibly powerful Beyoncé announced that new music from Destiny’s Child was on its way, it’s been reported that the group will be performing at this year’s Super Bowl halftime show as well.

According to Us Weekly, multiple sources have confirmed that the trio — Bey, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams — will be reuniting onstage for the first time since 2006. (EW has reached out to the group’s reps for confirmation but have yet to hear back.)

The Feb. 3 game will come just days after Destiny’s Child releases Love Songs, a compilation that’ll contain a new song called “Nuclear.” Likewise, the R&B group will reportedly perform a medley of hits when they take the stage, saving their latest single for the end.

Of course, Beyoncé will still be the star of the night. Sources tell Us Weekly that Beyoncé will begin the show on her own, bring in Rowland and Williams at halftime’s halftime, and then return for another solo run that’ll include a brand new cut from her upcoming album.

Katy Perry, fun., Alicia Keys, Usher added to Obama inauguration

President Barack Obama’s final inauguration is coming up, and apparently he figured he might as well go all in.

In addition to already-announced names Beyoncé, Kelly Clarkson, and James Taylor, all of whom will perform during the swearing-in ceremony on Jan. 21, Katy Perry, fun., Alicia Keys, Usher, John Legend, and Brad Paisley will also be performing during the Kids’ Inaugural Concert on Jan. 19.

In a statement, Presidential Inaugural Committee CEO Steve Kerrigan said, “We are honored and excited to have such a diverse, talented group of musical guests joining Americans from across the country to celebrate the 57th Inauguration.”

Plenty of other performer names have been tossed around for the series of big events, which include the inauguration, the kids’ concert, and two official inaugural balls. Those names include Nick Cannon, the cast of Glee, Marc Anthony, Smokey Robinson, and Far East Movement, though it’s unclear who of those names will be showing up where.

Perry’s spot on the bill isn’t surprising, as she played a rally for President Obama a few days before last November’s election. In one of the more head-turning fashion moments of 2012′s political discussion, she performed dressed as a ballot.

Who else do you hope shows up for the inauguration? Who would you book? And are you going to miss Aretha Franklin and her fantastic hats?

Beyonce covers GQ, announces new Destiny's Child release

beyonce-GQ

How powerful is Beyoncé?

Enough so to cover GQ, release new Destiny’s Child material, and perform at a Presidential Inauguration all in the same month.

Or, if she may so so herself: “I now know that, yes, I am powerful,” she tells GQ. “I’m more powerful than my mind can even digest and understand.”

The R&B superstar made a sneak announcement today, confirming that she and her old band are set to drop their first release since 2004′s Destiny Fulfilled. Titled Love Songs, the new Destiny’s Child effort will hit streets January 29th and is already available for preorder on Amazon. It’ll contain a new single from group, called “Nuclear.”

This comes after rampant speculation as to when Bey will be releasing a solo album of her own, given that her itinerary this year includes the Super Bowl halftime show and a high-profile HBO documentary.

Does this new announcement mean that her fellow Children of Destiny Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams will be join her onstage at the Super Bowl? That remains to be seen.

In the meantime, gaze upon Bey’s “Blue Ivy came from this” body on the cover GQ and read her interview with the magazine.

Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Mumford & Sons added to Grammy lineup

Considering there are a total of 81 categories at the Grammy Awards and only a small fraction of those actually get handed out during the telecast, the main events of any given Grammy show are the performances. What other reason did anybody have to tune into last year’s show other than to watch Jennifer Hudson’s tribute to Whitney Houston and Nicki Minaj’s British-accented exorcism?

This year’s batch of performers is starting to build, and it begins with some massive acts. Rihanna, Taylor Swift, fun., Mumford & Sons, and the Black Keys have all been confirmed to perform live at the 55th Grammy Awards, which will take place at Los Angeles’ Staples Center on Sunday, Feb. 10.

Mumford, fun., and the Black Keys are among the most nominated artists at this year’s show (Mumford and fun. each have six, while the Black Keys have five plus one more Producer of the Year nod for Dan Auerbach). Rihanna and Taylor will walk into the building with three nominations each, though Swift likely would have collected more had her latest album Red come out in time for consideration (pencil her in for at least a half-dozen noms in 2014).

Now that we know some of the people who will definitely be performing, the speculation can begin about what those artists will perform and who they might invite along. READ FULL STORY »

Beyonce, Kelly Clarkson, James Taylor to perform at Obama inauguration

beyonce-inauguration

Between the Super Bowl and the upcoming HBO documentary, and probably a new album, Beyoncé was already primed to have a big 2013. And then this happened: The Presidential Inaugural Committee has told People that Bey will perform the National Anthem at President Obama’s inauguration on Jan. 21. The event will take place in D.C., of course, in front of the U.S. Capitol Building.

The R&B star will be joined by Kelly Clarkson, who’ll sing “My Country Tis of Thee” — sung by Aretha Franklin, she of the big ribbon hat, in 2009. And to please the non-millennials, James Taylor will also be showing up to the shindig to perform “America the Beautiful.”

This, of course, won’t be Beyoncé’s first time to the inaugural rodeo. Back in 2009, she sang the Etta James classic “At Last” while the President and First Lady had their first dance at the Neighborhood Inaugural Ball. Take a look at her performance in the video below to refresh your memory:

New Prince songs streaming online? Thank mysterious Twitter user

Prince_510x317.jpg

Twitter has been a little bit funkier since Sunday, mostly because of an account set up under the name 3rdEyeGirl.

On Sunday, 3rdEyeGirl started linking out to Prince songs, many of which sound like demos and bootlegs. The tracks have been an interesting mix of established tracks (a live version of “Bambi”) and stuff that is unfamiliar (“Same Page Different Book,” which you can check out below).

The tweeter in question has only linked out to four songs (all of which are uploaded to the same YouTube account under the same name), including a remix of Prince’s 2012 single “Rock N Roll Love Affair.”
