Eminem gets therapy from Rihanna in 'The Monster' video: Watch it here

The-Monster.jpg

If this whole pop star thing doesn’t work out for Rihanna, she certainly has a future as a terrifying psychiatrist.

RiRi serves as Eminem’s unusual shrink in the new video for “The Monster,” the fourth single from Em’s phenomenally successful The Marshall Mathers LP 2. In the clip, which was directed by frequent Eminem collaborator Rich Lee (he also helmed “Rap God,” “Not Afraid,” and “Lighters”), Slim Shady sits on a couch while Rihanna watches him watch clips of old music videos and news footage, including his Grammy performance with Elton John.

Then Em splits off and finds himself trapped in an elevator, forced to observe his image from his very first music video for “My Name Is” (complete with 15-year-old Dr. Dre cameo). He also observes himself in the “Lose Yourself” clip, his computer-generated freefall in “The Way I Am,” and finally some sort of post-apocalyptic wasteland where he finds yet another version of himself locked in a cage.

It’s a pretty compelling clip and a fun trip through Em’s video past. Check out “The Monster” below.  READ FULL STORY

The biggest videos on YouTube this year

PSY.jpg

Oh Psy, you scamp — running the table two years in a row.

South Korea’s pony-danciest pop import had another bang-up year in video pageviews, following last year’s no. 1 “Gangam Style” with “Gentleman” in 2013. But Miley Cyrus, bless her, came close to wrecking him — and still beat him in total views.

Also on the list? The usual suspects: Katy, Rihanna, “Blurred Line” boobs, and more.

What you didn't see on TV at the American Music Awards: Gaga, Katy, Miley, Rihanna, and more

The night started with a gallop, as we saw Lady Gaga make the type of grand entrance onto the red carpet we’ve come to expect — this time by riding a white “horse.” But then we headed inside the packed Nokia Theatre, where things only got crazier.

Before the ABC telecast began, executive producer Larry Klein welcomed the audience to what he called “the biggest music party of the year.”

Katy Perry opened the show with a Geisha-themed performance of her new song “Unconditionally,” with a cascade of flower petals falling on the stage towards the end. The only problem was that the petals continued to fall throughout the show, even briefly interrupting One Direction and Ariana Grande’s performances.

AMAs 2013: See the complete winners list

Lady Gaga and Miley Cyrus made big splashes on the red carpet and on stage, but it was Taylor Swift and Justin Timberlake who each continued to break out of their respective genres Sunday night, taking home American Music Awards across several categories. Rihanna was honored with an AMA Icon Award (at only 25!) and country stars Lady Antebellum took away the night’s biggest country category prize.

Rihanna releases sparse, trippy 'What Now' video: Watch it here

Rihanna.jpg

Shockingly, it’s looking like 2013 will be the first year since 2008 that hasn’t delivered new Rihanna album.

But she’s hardly AWOL; she’s just continuing to work singles from last year’s Unapologetic — and now the latest entry just landed on the Internet.

After a few weeks of speculation (and a lot of social media-related gaffes), the video for “What Now” premiered this morning. Filmed in Phuket, Thailand, the clip features Rihanna in a room all alone (except when she’s joined by some shadow selves) going through an emotional exorcism so powerful that it apparently causes actual lightning strikes.

It’s all pretty interesting, and the last minute or so feels like an American Horror Story title sequence waiting to happen. Check it out below: READ FULL STORY

Eminem drops Rihanna-assisted 'The Monster': Hear it here

Eminem’s The Marshall Mathers LP 2 doesn’t arrive until next Tuesday, but we’ve already heard the intense “Survival,” the throwback banger “Berzerk,” and the battle-ready “Rap God.” Now comes the Rihanna reunion “The Monster,” which just arrived on the Internet.

RiRi previously appeared, of course, on Em’s chart-topping single “Love the Way You Lie” back in 2010, and he returned the favor by lending “Love the Way You Lie (Part II)” to her Loud album that same year. Mr. Mathers also dropped in on Rihanna’s “Numb,” from her 2012 release Unapologetic.

“The Monster” has a slightly jumpier tempo than the pair’s other collaborations, but it still finds Rihanna playing the songbird sounding-board to Em’s weary confessional rhyme spitter. It doesn’t have the same sort of chart-topping grandeur that “Love the Way You Lie” had, but it does sound like the most radio-read crossover track we’ve heard from The Marshall Mathers LP 2 thus far.

You can buy “The Monster” on iTunes starting at midnight; until then, listen below: READ FULL STORY

Rihanna kicked out of Abu Dhabi mosque

Oh Rihanna, will you ever stop causing international incidents via social networking? Only a week after one of her tweets led to the arrest of three people in Thailand for operating an illegal sex show, Rihanna found herself in hot water in Abu Dhabi thanks to a handful of photos she put up on her Instagram account.

While in the capital city of the United Arab Emirates, RiRi visited the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, one of the biggest centers for worship in the country. Clad head-to-toe in black (including a hair-covering headscarf) in accordance with Islamic tradition, she snapped a handful of Instagram photos on the grounds.

But those shots raised the ire of others at the mosque, and according to CNN, she and her entourage were asked to leave following the impromptu photo shoot.

“She was asked to leave before entering the actual mosque, and then after taking some photos that did not fit within the rules and regulations set out to preserve the sacredness of the center,” representatives of the mosque said in a statement.

The incident did not get in the way of Rihanna’s performance in Abu Dhabi on Saturday night, and she has not responded to the situation formally nor on Twitter. It seems as though they had better luck at the water park.

Eminem reveals 'Marshall Mathers LP 2' tracklist: Rihanna, Kendrick Lamar, more to guest

Eminem.jpg

Kendrick Lamar! Rihanna! That one guy from fun.!

All those characters will be featured on Eminem’s The Marshall Mathers LP 2, he revealed today. Em also dropped new cover art and the full tracklist for the upcoming effort, due out Nov. 5.

As expected, the previously released video-game song “Survival” and the retro single “Berzerk” both made it onto the record. His old pal Rihanna shows up on a number called “The Monster,” as does his other lady-friend Skylar Grey, who’s listed on a song titled “Asshole.”

Perhaps most notably, fellow Dr. Dre protege Kendrick Lamar guests on something called “Love Game,” a collaboration that’s destined to break the rap-internet when it leaks. And randomly, fun.’s Nate Ruess — a person who sort of seems like someone Em would’ve mocked in his “The Real Slim Shady” days — pops up on the second-to-last track “Headlights.”

Mercifully, MMLP2 contains only one skit.

In keeping with the Detroit-tough theme, the album’s lineup shows up on the back cover art of a condemned-building notice issued by his bankrupt hometown (see above). The very not-bankrupt Dr. Dre and Rick Rubin, who serve as the album’s executive producers, are touted prominently as well. It’s all meant to complement the front cover that he tweeted out last month, featuring an updated image of his childhood house — the same one that appeared on the original Marshall Mathers LP back in 2000.

Rihanna has money on her mind, other parts in racy 'Pour It Up' video

Imagine if Miley Cyrus had a cameo on Game of Thrones, and you still wouldn’t quite comprehend Rihanna’s new video for “Pour It Up.”

In characteristically provocative fashion, RiRi spends the majority of her latest clip wearing very little in the way of clothing. Instead of, say, a seasonably sensible turtleneck-and-trousers ensemble, she’s found on her throne clad in a skimpy, bejeweled outfit, along with strategically placed (read: on her crotch) dollar bills.

This risqué outfit leads to some provocative pole-dancing and eventually, inevitably, twerking.

Watch it all go down (and up, and down, and up again…) in the video below:
