Can Gwyneth Paltrow sing country live? We'll find out at this year's CMA Awards

country-strongImage Credit: Scott GarfieldGwyneth Paltrow is a woman of many talents—not to mention accents. But can she cut it when it comes to singing country in front of an audience?

That question will be answered on November 10, when the actress makes her live country music singing debut at the 44th Annual CMA Awards. The Oscar-winner will perform her new single “Country Strong,” the title track from her new film in which she plays a country star who heads out on tour after a possibly too short stint in rehab.

Country Strong also stars Leighton Meester and real-life Nashville star Tim McGraw. You can watch the trailer—which features a preview of what we can expect to hear at the CMA Awards—after the jump.

Ben Gibbard and Zooey Deschanel perform at the baseball playoffs: Watch the videos

Zooey-Deschanel-Ben-GibbardImage Credit: Todd Williamson/WireImage.comIndie-schmindie power couple Ben Gibbard and Zooey Deschanel were good sports this weekend—literally—bringing their insufferable adorability to game 3 of the National League Championship Series yesterday in San Francisco, Giants vs. Phillies.

Neither of them hails from the Bay Area, but perhaps they were splitting the difference? Death Cab for Cutie frontman Gibbard grew up in Bremerton, Washington, and Deschanel is a native Los Angeleno. Watch him sing the National Anthem in a jaunty blazer after the jump, and Zooey warble “God Bless America”: READ FULL STORY

Actor/director Adam Goldberg's new musical project: Hear new single 'Don't Grow' exclusively here

adam-goldbergHound dog-eyed Actor Adam Goldberg (Entourage, Dazed and Confused, The Hebrew Hammer) dipped a thespian toe into music-making under the name LANDy with last year’s woozy art-pop effort Eros & Omissions, featuring friends Steve Drozd of the Flaming Lips and Earlimart’s Aaron Espinoza.

After discovering that LANDy’s Google real estate was already occupied by, as as Goldberg notes,”Taiwanese pop sensation Landy Wen, Mexican troubadour Landy, Landy Insurance Company, Landy Cognac, a song about Landy cognac by Snoop Dog, and MySpace rapper Landy who you might know from the holiday favorite, ‘I Wanna F—,” that moniker has been been replaced with the newly-christened Goldberg Sisters.

Watch the “girls” explain themselves in Goldberg’s super-indie ultra mega quirky EPK here, and stream “Don’t Grow,” from the eponymous album due February 8, below:

Eva Mendes sings! Hear the 'Other Guys' actress duet on 'Pimps Don't Cry' with Cee-Lo Green

eva-mendes-cee-loImage Credit: Tristan Gregory/Camera Press/Retna Ltd; Scott D. Smith/Retna LtdWatch your bony back, Gwyneth—there’s another singing actress at the rodeo, and she’s ready to “Pimp”-slap your “Country Strong” to the ground.

I kid! There’s room for more than one poreless movie star in the recording booth, of course. And they won’t exactly be competing for the same chunk of the music market with their respective songs; Eva Mendes, who will star as Will Ferrell’s hot-doctor wife in this weekend’s cop-buddy comedy The Other Guys, has made her own decidedly un-twangy contribution to the film’s soundtrack, with rapper/soul man/50% Gnarls Barkley-ian Cee Lo Green, and NYmag.com has it streaming here.

Fans of Shaft-style slow jams, hot Latina thespians, and men in fuchsia fun-fur coats who sell womens’ bodies for money while remaining proudly tear-free (yay for that Venn diagram!) will likely enjoy “Pimps Don’t Cry”; so, probably, will people who think comedy is funny.

But you tell us, readers, in the comments section below. Better than her sex tape?

Taylor Momsen's 'scandalous' new video 'Miss Nothing' : Gossip Girl on a platter

Taylor-Momsen-video She’s totally not Miley, you guys! She can objectify her own self without any help from stupid Disney, dammit! Or anything resembling dignity. Or pants.

That’s the message Gossip Girl star and The Pretty Reckless frontwoman-child Taylor Momsen seems determined to drive home in every raccoon-eyed, shredded-thigh-high rebel yell she issues in interviews, on unsuspecting sidewalks, and now, in her latest video, for the single “Miss Nothing.”

I can’t lie; I moderately enjoy the whole late-period Garbage/Hole rock-vixen redux thing she’s working on the band’s new EP. In its own shamelessly derivative way, “Makes Me Wanna Die” is kind of a great Shirley Manson approximation, despite sharing its title with another, better song from (hey!) the mid ’90s.

But sweetie, no. Putting your underage heinie on the menu in the video for “Miss Nothing” is not only inappropriate (you weren’t even born until 1993), it’s unhygenic. You’ve got your hair tracks in the mashed potatoes and your ass in the cranberry sauce.

Please, just let the nice men (bandmates? uncles?), who look like they would so desperately rather be at a gig with their System of a Down cover band, drink their goblets of mead and eat their Ren Faire turkey drumsticks in peace.

Readers, if you must, grab your eatin’ bibs and watch this glorious mess after the jump: READ FULL STORY

Lindsay Lohan, 'Too Young to Die': Hear her chipper new ballad

lindsay-lohan-songImage Credit: David McNew/Getty Images While none-too-thrilled with her recent jail sentence, Lindsay Lohan can think (and sing!) of worse fates than 90 days on lockdown without her hair tracks, ciggies, and lip gloss.

Several, in fact: In a new song leaked to Perez Hilton and reportedly produced by J.R. Totem (Rihanna, Jason Derulo, Sean Kingston), LiLo warbles of a dangerous love that feels, alternately, like being “hit by a train,” “falling from a building,” “drinking deadly poison,” and “crashin’ my car, comin’ flyin’ through the windshield.”

Is it about old flame Sam Ronson? Dad of the Year Michael Lohan? Carvel? Stream the song after the jump, and tell us your theories—and what you think of the song—in the comments section below: READ FULL STORY

'Modern Family' star Jesse Tyler Ferguson covers Lady Gaga's 'Alejandro': Watch the magic unfold

Jesse-Tyler-Ferguson-gagaImage Credit: Bob D'Amico/ABC; Max AbadianOn ABC’s Modern Family, you know him as bearded, persnickety Mitchell, the put-upon gay lawyer and (ahem) straight man to loopy life partner Cameron (Eric Stonestreet), manic sister Claire (Julie Bowen) and burly patriarch Jay (Ed O’Neill).

At a long-running covers night at New York’s Joe’s Pub this week, actor Jesse Tyler Ferguson applied his thespianic powers to a higher cause: covering Lady Gaga’s Latin-hombre love tango, “Alejandro.”

Watch Ferguson’s muy dramático interpretation, with a piano assist from drag-cabaret duo Kiki & Herb‘s Kenny Mellman, below:

Katharine McPhee's duet with 'Chuck' star Zachary Levi: An EW exclusive stream

terrifiedThe song “Terrified” first appeared on season-five Idol runner-up Katharine McPhee‘s Unbroken this past January, as a duet with singer-songwriter and frequent Colbie Caillat collaborator Jason Reeves.

But now, Reeves has been usurped by a certain TV super-spy turned recording artist. Hear her and Chuck star Zachary Levi’s updated version of the Kara DioGuardi-penned ballad below, several days before the pair’s video for it debuts this Friday, May 7, on Vevo: READ FULL STORY

Renee Zellweger sings Bob Dylan! It's uncomfortable!

Bob-Dylan-reneeImage Credit: Janet Mayer/PR Photos; Reuters/Rob Galbraith/LandovRemember like five years ago when Renee Zellweger was supposed to be working on a Janis Joplin biopic? (So were Zooey Deschanel. And Pink. And Brittany Murphy.)

In the interim, she seems to have given up the Me and Bobby McGee dream and moved on to another kind of musical-cinema venture, My Own Love Song (or as Videogum has dubbed it “Duets 2: The Squinty Eyed Female Crazy Heart.”)

The film, co-starring Oscar winner Forest Whitaker and featuring 16 original songs by Bob Dylan(!), stars Zellweger as, per IMDB, a paraplegic singer on a road trip to Memphis with her best friend.

See the trailer, which showcases her singing the new Dylan song “Life Is Hard” (so true, Bobby Z) and watch her take on Woody Guthrie’s ‘This Land Is Your Land” like she really, really means it, after the jump: READ FULL STORY

Craig Robinson from 'Hot Tub Time Machine' sings 'Jessie's Girl.' Hear it now!

craig-robinsonWhat is it with time travel movies and music? Michael J Fox introduced the ’50s to rock’n’roll in Back to the Future. Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter Wild Stallyns-ed it up in the Bill and Ted movies. And who can forget the “Dr Zaius Rap” from Planet of the Apes? No, wait, that was actually on The Simpsons. Regardless, the point is made! Music and time travel films go together like a horse and carriage. Or like Craig Robinson from The Office covering “Jessie’s Girl,” which is what he does on the  soundtrack to the new comedy Hot Tub Time Machine.

We’ve got our hands on an exclusive preview of Robinson singing the Rick Springfield pop-rock classic—and you can hear it below. Give it a listen and tell us what you think.
