The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announced the list of induction nominees for 2015, including big names like The Smiths, Nine Inch Nails, Sting, and Lou Reed—the rock ‘n’ roll legend who died earlier this year after decades in the business, as the frontman for The Velvet Underground and a wildly successful solo artist. The 15 selections come from a wide variety of genres and decades—from ’60s Motown (The Marvelettes) and ’60s/’70s R&B (The Spinners), to ’70s disco (Chic) and ’80s hard rock (Joan Jett & The Blackhearts) and hip-hop (N.W.A.), up through contemporary pop-punk (Green Day).

It’s a bromance we never saw coming: Paul Simon and Sting will embark on a tour of North America together early next year.
The two, who spilled the news to The New York Times ahead of tomorrow’s official announcement, show plenty of chemistry in the article, teasing each other and fondly recalling their first gig together, at a fundraiser this spring for the Robin Hood Foundation. “After we finished [the set],” Simon tells the Times, “we both looked at each other and said: ‘Wow. That’s pretty interesting.’ ”
“Paul Simon and Sting: On Stage Together” will kick off in February, and feature the two playing their hits in combination and on their own. Tickets go on sale a week from tomorrow.
Don’t worry, kiddos — Papa Sting is here to show you how it’s done.
The Recording Academy has announced that the 61-year-old Sting with be joining Rihanna and Bruno Mars on stage for a performance at the Grammys this Sunday.
With 16 trophies of his own at home, Sting is no stranger to the Grammys — he won his first back in 1980, when he was in the Police and Rihanna and Bruno Mars were not even people yet. (Although, judging by Mars’ recent singles, the age gap hasn’t limited Sting’s influence.)
Kelly Clarkson will be performing separately on Grammy night as well, the Academy announced, while Beyoncé, Prince, Hunter Hayes, Jennifer Lopez, and Pauley Perrette were confirmed as presenters.
Adele, Miley Cyrus, Darren Criss, Dave Matthews Band, Maroon 5, Elvis Costello, Pete Seeger, Tom Morello, and Ke$ha are among the acts who have contributed new or previously unreleased tracks to the album Chimes of Freedom which pays tribute to both Bob Dylan and Amnesty International.
Adele has gifted Chimes of Freedom a live version of “Make You Feel My Love” and Cyrus sings “You’re Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go,” while folk legend Seeger performs “Forever Young.”

Leave it to Lady Gaga to co-opt a music festival featuring dozens of top-line pop stars and make it her own.
The Lady appeared on stage as the final performer last night at the iHeartRadio Music Festival at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and stayed on stage for well over an hour—much longer than any of the other acts. “They told me I was only allowed to play for 45 minutes,” she told the crowd. “But I think you’re all pretty drunk so you probably don’t know what time it is, do you?”
And it’s true: No one was complaining when she served up hit after hit, including “Judas,” “You and I,” “Just Dance,” and “Bad Romance,” which basically blew the roof off the arena.
