Song of the Summer? Ariana Grande talks the making of her hit 'Problem'

After moving 438,000 downloads in its first week (the fourth-best-selling debut ever for a female artist), Ariana Grande’s “Problem” is now officially a contender for the 2014 song-of-summer title.

But the 20-year-old pop star originally didn’t think the swagger-fueled jam would be a single. “It was so different from me,” says Grande, who had her breakout hit last year with ’90s throwback “The Way,” featuring rapper Mac Miller, and was best known before that for her roles on the Nickelodeon series Victorious and Sam & Cat. Trent Reznor on Nine Inch Nails' tour with Soundgarden, getting paid at Woodstock, and hanging with Bowie

One of this summer’s biggest tours finds two rock titans sharing a single stage. Beginning July 19 in Las Vegas, Nine Inch Nails and Soundgarden will storm amphitheaters across North America delivering both classics (both Nine Inch Nails The Downward Spiral and Soundgarden’s Superunknown turned 20 this year) and new stuff (Nine Inch Nails put out Hesitation Marks last year; Soundgarden released King Animal, their first studio album in 16 years, back in 2012).

Nine Inch Nails mastermind Trent Reznor called in to EW from a tour stop in Finland to talk about holding grudges, retiring songs, and touring with David Bowie.

Lionel Richie on his tour, Kenny Rogers Roasters, and the number of times someone can be a lady

He has danced on the ceiling. Partied all night long. Asked if he was, by chance, the romantic prospect that you have been in search of. Now Lionel Richie is going next level with All the Hits All Night Long, his first North American tour in a decade, complete with a special pit stop at Bonnaroo on June 14 alongside the likes of Kanye West and Jack White. Before kicking off this leg on May 29 in Vancouver, the 64-year-old Grammy-winning singer/songwriter, who has sold more than 100 million records, rang up EW for a revealing and riotous Q&A in which he dropped knowledge on songwriting, the Middle East, reality TV, the number of times someone can be a lady, and so much more. Truly. READ FULL STORY

Tupac musical director Kenny Leon on the 10 year journey to 'Holler If Ya Hear Me'

Theater director Kenny Leon, who was just nominated for a Tony for Best Direction of a Play for his work on the revival of A Raisin in the Sun, knows that his next project is perhaps the most challenging of his career.

Then again, the subject whose songs inspired the new show was no stranger to struggle. Holler If Ya Hear Me, a new musical written by Todd Kreidler and directed by Leon, is inspired by the life and work of late hip-hop legend Tupac Shakur.
