Have you ever been at the annual Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival and thought to yourself, “All this fringe music is pretty excellent, but I really can’t stand all of this sand.”
The organizers of Coachella have a solution: They’re sending you out to sea. Goldenvoice announced today that this year will mark the maiden voyage of the S.S. Coachella, a floating, Caribbean-bound music festival. Because nothing Coachella-related can happen just once, there will be two separate legs, both of which will originate from the port in Fort Lauderdale, Fl.
The first, running December 16-19, will be bound for the Bahamas, while the second will run December 19-23 and head to Jamaica. Included will be all the accoutrements of cruise travel (pools, beach activities, buffets, booze, probably some token shuffleboard) in addition to a pretty killer lineup of bands — a baby version of this year’s Coachella. The bands performing include Pulp, Hot Chip, Yeasayer, Girl Talk, James Murphy, Sleigh Bells, and Grimes. Check out the poster — with the lineup — below.
