Boy-band feud alert: Did One Direction just copy Backstreet Boys' album title?

Is One Direction copying the Backstreet Boys’ style — and their titles?

In the 1990’s, boy-band feuds were a dime a dozen — back when TRL was filled with screaming girls who wanted nothing more than to be serenaded by the likes of ‘N Sync, Backstreet Boys, and 98 Degrees. But today, TRL is no more, and boy bands aren’t nearly the fad they used to be.

That hasn’t stopped the multiplatinum U.K. X Factor breakouts One Direction from making a whole new generation of young girls scream at ear-piercing volumes. But is One Direction borrowing a little too blatantly from the still-active Backstreet Boys?

When BSB’s AJ McClean stopped by TMZ last year, he wasn’t shy about expressing his opinion on One Direction’s eerily familiar lyrics. Check out the video below:

And now, One Direction’s Liam Payne has tweeted that the official title of the band’s upcoming movie, which was known as 1D3D, has now changed to This Is Us:

Fans of the Backstreet Boys will quickly recognize that as the name of BSB’s most recent album and tour. Could this be the next boy-band feud in the making? And if the answer is yes, whose side are you on?

Justin Bieber fires back on Instagram -- he's tired of the 'countless lies,' LOLs all over the place

Here are the three most important things we learned from Justin Bieber’s since-deleted Instagram manifesto this morning, published in response to his recent whirlwind of negative attention:

Justin Bieber is sick and tired of the “countless lies in the press right now.”

Justin Bieber is not going to rehab.

Justin Bieber is “laughing out loud.”

The singer deleted the post hours after uploading it, but not before getting his message across: We, the lying press, have been too hard on Bieber, with the lying and the lies. We have also been telling his family that he is going to rehab. (For which we should actually feel pretty terrible.) “If Anyone believes i need rehab thats their own stupidity lol,” he wrote.

But Bieber is a forgiving pop deity: “I’m writing this with a smile on my face and love in my heart. Letting u know first hand how I feel rather than have these story linger. I’m a good person with a big heart. And don’t think I deserve all of this negative press I’ve worked my ass off to get where I am and my hard work doesn’t stop here.”

The statement feels rushed and refreshing in equal measure, especially after multiple reports about paparazzo near-misses and trips to the hospital and Worst Birthdays Ever.

Now we can all just ignore that last part where he implies that Lindsay Lohan is poorer than he is and/or prepare for her response via Vine. Stay tuned.

Mark Wahlberg talks potential Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch reunion: 'We might'

If iPhones weren’t everywhere I turned, I’d think it’s actually 1995.

First, all five Backstreet Boys reunite, then Boyz II Men, 98 Degrees, and New Kids on the Block go on tour. Before I can turn around, LL Cool J is rapping at the Grammy’s, and now I hear that it isn’t completely crazy to think Oscar-nominated Mark Wahlberg could once again send around some “Good Vibrations” as the Grammy-nominated Marky Mark.

Kelly Rowland and Michael Bolton duet on 'Ain't No Mountain High Enough' -- VIDEO

kelly-rowland

Kelly Rowland is continuing her really very good 2013 — surviving being shot out of an air cannon at the Super Bowl (safety first!), seeing a major sales bump post-Bowl (not too shabby), cohosting the Oscars’ red carpet (great)  — with a Michael Bolton duet, for his newest release Ain’t No Mountain High Enough: A Tribute to Hitsville.

The pair have teamed up on the title track, which began as a classic hit for Marvin Gay and Tammi Terrell before becoming that thing the Sister Act 2 cast sang along to over the credits.

Honestly, we do have a few quibbles: Michael B.’s vocal tone is nice, all smooth-like and manly, but it tends to overwhelm the song’s original give-and-take. Also: Why does the instrumentation sound like’s it’s been kicked up two notches?

Also: Why does Rowland (shock, gasp) sound Auto-Tuned during a few of her vocal runs?

Take a listen below. Greater or less than “Kisses Down Low”? READ FULL STORY

Justin Bieber becomes most-followed person on Twitter

Miracles happen when you Beliebe.

As of today, Bieber has surpassed Lady Gaga as the most-followed individual on Twitter.  Currently, Bieber has 33,340,747 followers; Gaga, in the number two spot, has 33,334,564. But there’s no hard feelings from Mother Monster. The lady who was the first to pass 10, 20 and then 30 million followers tweeted at Bieber last week, “So proud of @justinbieber and all the Beliebers! I’m only happy to see your fans growing in size, you all deserve it! Monsters support you!”

As they say, with great power comes great responsibility. Here are just a couple of the things Bieber has recently put out there in the twitterverse: READ FULL STORY

Lady Gaga wears gun bra in concert -- PHOTO

Lady Gaga’s choice of wardrobe is causing a stir — again.

The singer wore a top with guns coming out of her chest in concert last Friday. Gaga has done it before (most famously on the cover of Rolling Stone), but this is the first time she’s donned that look after the Newtown tragedy last month. (EW reached out to her rep, who did not return a request for comment.)

As EW previously reported, Sharon Osbourne — midway through a feud with Gaga regarding her daughter Kelly and bullying — asked on The Talk for Gaga to make different wardrobe choices. “Don’t wear guns, don’t allow your fans to use the word “guns” on your website, on your Twitter,” Osbourne said yesterday. “Don’t do it. Have it stopped. One word from her, they will stop.”

Ke$ha, Iggy Pop mock Rick Santorum on 'Dirty Love' collab: Hear it here

“It’s Iggy Pop!”

That’s the first thing Ke$ha says on “Dirty Love,” her newly leaked duet with the storied Stooge. And she’s not wrong: Iggy cuts loose on the breezy little rave-up, throwing up jokey lines like “Cockroaches do it in garbage cans… Santorum did it in a V-neck sweater.” Between this and Dan Savage, the poor Pennsylvanian who hasn’t held office in five years just can’t catch a break!

Of course, there’s even more frivolity going on in the song. Take in Ke$ha’s empty calories with the video below:

Lindsay Lohan stars in R.E.M. video directed by James Franco

Yes, you read that right. Two of Hollywood’s strangest individuals, LiLo and JFray (I just made that up), have teamed up for an incredibly bizarre R.E.M. video.

Directed by James Franco in true James Franco fashion (meaning it’s basically a total blur), “Blue” stars Lindsay Lohan as a sultry muse for Terry Richardson. Lohan bites her lip and musses her hair while shots of Los Angeles fade in and out with dizzying persistence. All I can say is: don’t watch this if you get carsick.

Justin Bieber performs 'Cry Me A River' in concert: What's he trying to tell us? -- VIDEO

There’s now one more lonely guy.

As teens the world over undoubtedly already know, Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez are no longer together. People reports that Gomez ended things over “trust issues,” but Bieber’s latest moves don’t exactly jibe with that version of events.

In concert over the weekend, Bieber performed “Cry Me A River,” Justin Timberlake’s 2002 famous rain-soaked kiss-off to a cheating Britney Spears. Pause. Does this mean Gomez cheated on him? Is he trying to incept everyone as we speak? Is it weird that Timberlake’s decade-old breakup song is circling back around (and around) and coming all the way back around for the ending of another teen dream split?

This isn’t the first time Bieber has performed the song, but it is the first time that people can make a big, huge deal out of it. TMZ reports that Bieber is confident they’ll get back together (make sure to tell that to Gomez’s BFF Taylor Swift!), but if those two crazy kids really are done for good, what other songs would you like to hear him add into his devastation rotation: “Go Your Own Way”? “Everybody Hurts”? “The Scientist”?

So many questions, only 1:34 minutes of footage to overanalyze. Check out the heartbreak below: READ FULL STORY

From the people who brought you 'Friday': 'It's Thanksgiving' -- VIDEO

You want to listen to some holiday music, but Christmas is still just a little too far away? If only there was a pop Thanksgiving song, you’ve probably thought to yourself at some point. I wish I could pretend a turkey leg was a microphone, and give shout-outs to mashed potatoes over a repetitive chorus complete with a random rap breakdown two-thirds of the way through the track.

Be careful what you wish for. Teen Nicole Westbrook’s song, “It’s Thanksgiving,” has all of the above and so, so much more. For those that cherished the easy reminder of the days of the week from Rebecca Black, this song — by the same team that brought you “Friday” — attempts to replace the calendar in your life. Westbrook lists out all the holidays, and subs Black’s “we we we so excited” for “we we we are gonna have a good time.”

I don’t know why I’m going to nitpick this, but I think my favorite part is right at the beginning, when she is counting down the days on a calendar and Nov. 28 is listed as Thanksgiving Day. That’s not even accurate this year! We we we did not fact check this.
