'Glee' Exclusive: Susan Boyle to play the McKinley High lunch lady?

Glee has already had some phenomenal guest-stars so far, including Josh Groban, Kristin Chenoweth, and, last night, Neil Patrick Harris. Now, EW has learned a certain music (and YouTube) sensation may be appearing on the hit Fox series in a season two Christmas episode: Susan Boyle. The Britain’s Got Talent runner-up is conveniently on the same record label, Columbia, as the Glee cast. And who would Boyle play? “I have two words for you: Lunch. Lady,” says Glee co-creator Ryan Murphy. “I think Kurt would just die to give her a Christmas makeover. I don’t even know if she’s interested but it’s been pitched.” Besides the potential Boyle guest spot, Murphy also tells EW that there are plans for the cast to release a Christmas album as well (Rob Stringer, Columbia/Epic’s chairman, wouldn’t confirm the Boyle or Christmas album details but did say, “All very interesting ideas. I’ll bring them up at the next development meeting.”).

What do you think about Boyle possibly appearing on Glee, Music Mix-ers? Is that a dream collaboration? Or a disaster pairing?

For more Glee scoop, including details on the huge June 8 season finale and what’s in store for next season, pick up the new issue of EW (with Jane Lynch as Sue Sylvester on the cover!) on stands this Friday.

New 'Glee' music: Hear Jane Lynch and Olivia Newton-John cover 'Physical'

We’ve already heard Sue Sylvester (the phenomenal Jane Lynch) tackle Madonna’s classic “Vogue.” But now the Cheerios coach is dueting with another blonde pop diva: Olivia Newton-John. The Grease star makes an appearance in next week’s episode of Glee, entitled “Bad Reputation,” and records a new version of her hit “Physical” with Sue. And how does this surprising collaboration come about? Well, Sue is embarrassed when a video of her Jazzercising is leaked and Newton-John comes to her rescue. Says Lynch, “She gives me a call and says ‘Let’s remake the “Physical” video for a new generation. You’ve been humiliated, I was humiliated by my video, so let’s get out there and redeem ourselves.’” Lynch adds that working with the singer was a dream. “We had a little dance rehearsal and then we spent the whole day together,” says the actress. “She’s just a wonderful woman, exactly the way you’d think she’d be.”

What do you think of the new “Physical,” Music Mix-ers? Is it better than the original?

'Glee' Exclusive: Details on the elaborate new tour!

We’re less than a month away from the start of the new Glee concert tour, set to begin May 15 in Phoenix, AZ, but EW.com has uncovered some exclusive details for you Gleeks who just can’t wait. “We’re gonna do between 15 and 18 numbers,” explains Glee creator Ryan Murphy, who’s also producing and directing the concert. “We made a decision to do our biggest hits because that’s what fans want to see. It’s a concert tour but it also has a story in it.” Staying true to the series, the plot will focus on the kids of New Directions and their rivalry with glee club all-stars, Vocal Adrenaline.

Production on the series’ first season wraps Monday and then the cast will go into heavy rehearsals for the tour, which Murphy promises will be visually spectacular thanks to a set designed by Lady Gaga’s set designer. Says Murphy, “It’s a huge stage. We’ve got multimedia. It’s really big. Fox believes in it so much that they’ve hired the best people. It’s not about going out and selling out a lot of dates and making a lot of money. In fact, we won’t make any money with this first tour because we’ve put so much money into the set design. It’s really just a great thank you to our fans.”

Will you be checking out the Glee tour, Music Mix-ers? What Glee songs do you want to see performed live?

'Glee' creator Ryan Murphy on an all-Britney Spears episode: 'I'm interested'

Good news for Britney Spears and Glee fans: series creator Ryan Murphy tells EW that an all-Britney episode of the hit Fox musical, an idea floated by Spears’ manager via twitter on April 21 after Tuesday’s all-Madonna Glee, is actually being considered. Says Murphy, “I’m interested in the Britney Spears idea. I’ve always loved her. I’m entertaining it. I think young kids would like that.” Murphy also says that he’s contemplating doing similar hour tributes to Billy Joel, Led Zeppelin, and, even, Courtney Love! “I actually ran into Courtney Love the other day and talked to her,” says Murphy. “She’s interested. I would love to have the kids do a Courtney Love episode one day.” But he stresses that with all of these artists it really all comes down to the music and how it fits in the Glee universe. “The key is the songs in the catalogue have to have a certain degree of theatricality,” says Murphy.

With the “Power of Madonna” soundtrack set to debut at #1 next week and dominating the iTunes download charts, Murphy says Madonna has been more than pleased with their treatment of her tunes. “She said how much she loved the episode,” he admits.  “She thought it was brilliant and she’s so pleased. Her daughter got to watch it with her and loved it. [Madonna's] a smart cookie. I mean that introduced her music to an entire new generation.”

'Gossip Girl' star Taylor Momsen talks her debut single, upcoming album, and why she doesn't like pants

Actress Taylor Momsen is best known to audiences as Gossip Girl‘s rebellious Jenny Humphrey. But the 16-year-old is hoping that soon people will also see her as a rock star. Momsen and her band, the Pretty Reckless, are set to drop their debut album this summer and have recently released their first single, “Make Me Wanna Die,” which is on the Kick-Ass soundtrack. EW chatted with Momsen about this new career path.

EW: Your band, the Pretty Reckless, has a song (“Make Me Wanna Die”) on the Kick-Ass soundtrack.

Taylor Momsen:
It’s a tragic love song. It’s Romeo and Juliet—can’t live without your lover so you die. It’s the Pretty Reckless’ first single. We just shot a video for it, but I don’t wanna say too much. It fits the song. It’s very dark.

EW: How’s the album progressing?

TM: It’s coming out this summer. We wrote it as a record, so every song is part of a bigger thing. I don’t know—I just want people to hear it!

EW: Who would you say is your biggest musical inspiration?

TM: The Beatles did everything first, and they did it the best.

EW: You’re often compared to Courtney Love.

TM: I don’t wanna be Courtney Love—I wanna be Kurt Cobain. READ FULL STORY »

'Glee' cast covers Madonna's 'Like a Prayer': Hear it here!

Next week’s all-Madonna episode of Glee is the most music-packed episode so far—and, in my opinion, their best hour yet. So it makes sense Fox is slowly leaking select tracks from the episode, like Sue Sylvester’s brilliant scene-for-scene remake of “Vogue.” Now, we have the cast’s phenomenal cover of “Like a Prayer.” “Like a Prayer” is definitely one of the highlights of the episode and probably the show’s best shot at another “Don’t Stop Believin’”-type download phenomenon. Plus, it does a nice job of incorporating most of the cast’s vocals. Full track below…

What do you think, Music Mix-ers? Does it live up to Madonna’s version? Is it better?

'Glee' Exclusive: New details on the crazy upcoming Lady Gaga episode

We already knew that the Glee kids would be tackling Lady Gaga in their back nine episodes, set to begin airing on Fox April 13. But now we actually can tell you which Gaga tunes to get the choral overhaul: “Bad Romance” and “Poker Face.” The latter of the pair will be tackled by Lea Michele’s Rachel. Says creator Ryan Murphy, “Lea does a very stripped-down version of ‘Poker Face.’” Meanwhile, “Romance” sounds like a much more elaborate number, with the glee club actually donning Gaga-esque wardrobe for the performance. “I do know that we’re all different Lady Gagas, and at one point I am the Kermit the Frog Lady Gaga,” says Michele, referring to this crazy ensemble worn by the pop star. “I saw a picture of the Kermit the Frog Lady Gaga with a Post-It on it that said ‘Lea.’ I was like, oh, great. Everyone else has incredible Lady Gaga outfits and I have that one.” And it sounds like producers are making sure the costumes are up to par with the real Gaga’s eccentric wardrobe choices. Says Chris Colfer, who plays Kurt, “The outfits are gonna be incredible. All the costumes are outrageous and legit. I actually went to the tailor this morning who makes the real Gaga outfits. They’re going all-out.”

Are you excited, Music Mix-ers? Did the Glee producers pick the right Gaga songs? What would you have chosen?

Heidi Montag has big boobs, tiny album sales: her flop album sells fewer than 1,000 copies its first week

Despite a media blitz (mostly detailing her recent plastic surgeries), Heidi Montag’s Superficial s a total stiff, selling fewer than 1,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan. To put that grim number into context, Vampire Weekend topped the charts the same week with 124,000 copies of their disc Contra. Montag told EW just last week that she had spent more than $2 million on the album, leaving her broke, but still wasn’t worried about the album’s success. “I think it’s gonna do great,” said Montag. “I have a million twitter followers and they’re all very excited. So that’s at least a million people right there. It also takes time. I don’t expect it to be instant. Maybe it’s the biggest album in a couple months. Maybe it’s the biggest album in a year. This is the first album of many to come. As long as I can keep affording it and keep doing it, I will because it’s my love and my passion.” EW contacted Montag for comment, but her rep said she was “unavailable for interviews due to Hills filming for the next couple weeks.”
