Former Chris Brown tour-mate Soulja Boy weighed in on the alleged Rihanna incident on the red carpet at last Saturday’s 2009 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards in Los Angeles. Here’s what he told EW: "[Chris] needs to be focused on fixing himself right now and fixing therelationship. I don’t know what went wrong or what happenedexactly, but I couldn’t be more shocked. Both of them are my friendsand I wish both of them the best of luck. They were really goodtogether and it is sad that it happened. It came out of nowhere. Iwould have never seen that coming. It is not like him at all. Not hisnature. I hope they both get through it in a positive light. It isgoing to be tough because they are going through it all publicly.Remember that only God can judge though. None of us know exactly whatwent down that weekend. Only they know the whole truth and it will beup to them to decide if they can get straight with it and whether theywill want to continue as a couple. I can just be there if either ofthem need me."
In addition to boasting about his sparkly $100,000 necklace and professing a desire to collaborate with Kanye West, the loquacious rapper also revealed the inspiration behind his new hit single, "Kiss Me Thru the Phone," which is riding high at No. 3 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. "It is based on my personal experience," he says. "When I was recording, I had a girl I wanted to see real bad but I couldn’t, so I told someone else how I have to be all right with kissing her through the phone for a few months and that was how it all came about." Next up for the young MC? A summer tour. "I’m the headliner and I am going to put my swagga into it. Move over, Chris Brown." (Additional reporting by Carrie Bell)
