When Billboard broke the news this morning that Queen and Paul Rodgers would be going their separate ways, it was hard not to think, "Well, what’s next?" Or rather, "Who’s next?" The late Freddie Mercury’s frontman role is ridiculously tough to fill. Might we suggest Adam Lambert? OK, so the guy will probably be pretty busy in the next few days/months/years (hey, we’re not the only ones who think so), but the American Idol front-runner has the musical chops and stage presence vital to preserving Queen’s signature sound. Can you even imagine what he could do with ‘Somebody to Love’ or ‘Another One Bites the Dust’ in concert? What do you think, Music Mixers? Could Adam Lambert do Freddie Mercury justice? Is there somebody else who could do a better job? Or should the band just call it a day?

No, because Adam is too dependent on that screaming thing he does. I had wished he would’ve sung a song last night, but he screeched his way through his two numbers. I have no doubt he’s a good singer, but frankly NO ONE can fill Freddie’s shoes.
he ” screams ” alot for one reason, becaues he can and probably better than anyone you or i could think of. His lower registers are just as amazing however. Go back and listen to mad world or tracks of my tears again. flawless f#*!@#g flawless
They should have called it a day after the Freddie tribute.
Wow, that’s a bold suggestion! Actually, even though Queen is my favorite band of all time, if they were to invite Adam, I could certainly live with that. The guy looks, sounds, breaks ground and puts on a show like a reincarnation of Freddie Mercury!
But they are as classic as it gets, and Adam will probably be the first to suggest that no one can replace Freddie and they should accept that and retire.
Glambert would be terrific! Agreed, he does have a bit of a screeching problem, as Elizabeth notes, but he could work on that. (As indeed he seemed to be doing or the last month or so.)
I don’t like Adam at all..

Ive been saying this all season, but here it is again: I would murder someone in order to hear Adam Lambert do “Somebody to Love.”
If you want every Queen song to sound like a Glam Phantom of the Opera number then yes, bring on Glambert. As Simon likes to say over and over, “sorry”.
I wish Adam would do another Queen song! I’d love to hear him to “Who Wants to Live Forever” or “The Show Must Go On.” Anything, really. I don’t know if he should become their new frontman, but it seems like it would be a logical choice. I’m torn though, because Queen is one of my favorite bands, and Freddie really is irreplaceable.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Is that a joke? Great rock bands…The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Led Zepplin, The Who, Queen. Sorry, but if your on American Idol, you have no rock cred. You might as well have suggested Clay Aiken to front Queen. Oh my god, can the a**-kissing of Lamebert get any worse? He’s not going to be a big star.
Are you kidding me? I’d like to see you sing as well as he does, then you could go around throwing insults.
Just wait and see, Adam will do far better at his career than you at yours. He’ll be making bank and well…you won’t.
Oh and hello? Rolling Stone magazine cover??? yeah sure….he totally has no rock cred at all! pshhh.
As much as they are similar, I don’t like Adam joining an already formed band…especially a legendary band like Queen.
He should form his own band, so he wouldn’t always be compared to Freddy.

Adam is AMAZING@! He is so talented and has entertained us all season. He has earned the Idol crown. Vote Adam@! I am also proud of Adam because I work for the VA and while Adam was home he went to Miramar to sing for the troops and their families. He also visited the kids at his high school drama and signing departments and went back to the performing arts center where he started performing. He is truly the most talented and should win American Idol Vote Adam!
The only other person who I’ve heard that fits in perfectly with Queen is George Michael whom I’ve heard in tribute concert with Queen. Excellent!
Adam could do it, no doubt. He is amazing. The best overall vocalist/entertainer on “Idol” yet.
Freddie Mercury would roll over in his grave if that whiny emo kid took his place. Come on EW, between this and Twatlight, this magazine is a joke.
all this coming from “candygirl”?
The band should call it a day.
Need I remind y’all about INXS and what happened with their replacement singer?
