Speculation about who will appear on the New Moon soundtrack heated up this week after director Chris Weitz dropped a few big names to a RottenTomatoes.com interviewer: “The criterion will still always be what’s right for the movie at that given moment, but Thom Yorke is interested; we might, if we’re very lucky, get Kings of Leon to do something.” Well, well!
But don’t get too excited just yet. Yorke’s camp would neither confirm nor deny the Radiohead frontman’s reported involvement to EW at this time. The Kings of Leon connection, meanwhile, seems even more tenuous. “Not as of right now, no,” KoL lead singer Caleb Followill tells EW’s Whitney Pastorek when asked if his band will contribute to the Twilight sequel. “I haven’t had any time to write any music, we’ve been so busy… I would have to write a song in my hotel room, which I think we might could do, but I don’t know. As of right now I’m more focused on getting some rest and writing another album.”
Oh well. For now, at least, sounds like the New Moon soundtrack field is still very much wide open. It’d be a choice gig for any up-and-comer, considering how successful the first Twilight film’s soundtrack was. So whose tunes would you like to hear in the next teen-vampire flick this fall? Sink your fangs into some suggestions in the comments below.

Kelly Clarkson has a song called “Empty As I Am” that she wrote for New Moon…not sure if she’ll be on there but that’d be awesome
There’s always Muse and Collective Soul again. Stephenie Meyer obviously likes them. CS’s “Not the One” definitely fits the tone of New Moon.
Florence + The Machine, the song Cosmic Love would be perfect for new moon

I would be SHOCKED if Kings of Leon licensed a song on the NEW MOON soundtrack. For starters, the last Soundtrack was on Atlantic/Chop Shop, and though an incredibly steady seller, its not on Sony/BMG, which the Kings are signed to. Their record label have finally just broke the Kings at Pop radio with their hit “Use Somebody”, and I assume once that song becomes absolutely ginormous, the record label will follow up with the current Modern rock hit, “Notion”. NOT a new track for a soundtrack for another record label, which would then not only make money from the sales, but also be responsible for marketing said new tune. GET REAL. It took them forever to break the Kings to mainstream success here in the U.S., so I seriously don’t see them screwing up their marketing plan now, NEW MOON, or not.
Thom would never sell his soul for this franchise.
One Republic’s “Come Home”
There is a group called Julien-K (you can find them in Google, Amazon, iTunes, etc).
They have a song called “Forever”, I can’t think of any song more fitting for Blue Moon!
ah Julien-K! i saw them open for LP @ Projekt Revolution and met the keyboardist. Their music was okay. Also the movie is called New Moon.
Blue Moon!?!?! lol, thinkig about something else. It’s New Moon!
sorry read this one after hehe
Matt- Not sure if you have even seen the Twilight movie but the last song featured is 15 Step BY RADIOHEAD! I am a big Radiohead fan & was surprised to hear it used in the first film. Seems as if his soul has already been sold.
Ben Harper – Walk Away, Forever. Beautiful, beautiful songs with amazing lyrics that DEFINITELY fit the book.
Florence + The Machine’s “Howl” would be even better. It’s a song about werewolves, what could be more fitting?
It’s an older song and I’m not sure where it would fit into the story line in terms of the movie, but the song “More than Love” by Los Lonely Boys reminds me of Bella/Edward relationship or even the Jacob/Bella relationship down the road. It’s all about losing someone and realizing that what you have is more than an ordinary love and hoping that the other person feels that way too. Beautiful song.
Pearl Jam, Come Back
World Spins Madly On – The Weepies
He Lays In The Reins – Calexico & Iron & Wine
Maybe Not – Cat Power
