Four weeks after pleading guilty to assaulting former girlfriend Rihanna in a February incident, Chris Brown has issued his first public apology in a video statement first obtained by TMZ. Addressing the camera directly while wearing a simple red shirt, the singer makes statements including the following:
- “I’m not going to sit here and make any excuses… What I did was inexcusable.”
- “I wish I had the chance to live those few moments again, but unfortunately I can’t.”
- “I am very sad and very ashamed of what I’ve done. My mother and my spiritual teachers have taught me way better than that.”
- “I have told Rihanna countless times, and I’m telling you today, that I am truly, truly sorry that I wasn’t able to handle the situation differently and better.”
- “As many of you know, I grew up in a home where there was domestic violence, and I saw first-hand what uncontrolled rage could do. I have sought and I am continuing to seek help to ensure that what occurred in February can never happen again.”
- “What I did was unacceptable, 100 percent. I can only ask and pray that you forgive me, please.”

Too little, too late.
At what point will he apologize for completely walking since he has more money than the trailer park rednecks tha beat their women.
Okay I’m from his hometown and it hurts to see someone from Tappahannock make it big and self destruct. Trying to be objective, I think it was a little late. He should have done it as soon as the trial was over and it seemed like it was read from a script rather than speaking from the heart, and away from the press, where his words could be challenged and he’d have to answer for for his actions. Stil, it’s a first step and I’m willing to withhold judgment until I can see if his actions back up his words.
four MONTHS!
Stuff your sorrys in a sack, mister!
four MONTHS!
I am a Chris Brown Fan, He is a young man who made a horrible mistake that hopefully he is getting help for. Domestic Violence follows you from childhood to adulthood. I do believe his apology was sincere and hope that this horrible incident in his life will make him a better person and a better man….
I think Chris Brown’s appology has come four months too late. His appology may have been sincere but doesn’t change what he did. He needs to go to anger management counseling! Hopes of a future career?…not likely!
Reap what you sow, Chris. Your apology doesn’t move me.
Give me a break! That was totally insincere. You could tell someone probably wrote those lines for him and he was reading from cue cards the entire time. Yeah, he really seems broken up about the terrible thing he did to his girlfriend. What a jerk. A bad ‘mistake’ would’ve been slapping her once and regretting it immediately. Instead, he put her in the hospital because he lost control and needs to get some serious therapy and jail time!
Doesn’t sound genuine
Too little, too late. I change the station whenever one of his songs comes on now. Used to be a fan, but now can’t imagine I’ll ever be able to listen to his music again without immediately thinking “abuser”. Hope he is truly getting the psychological help he needs.
maybe if he asked instead of axed, lol

abreee kash .
its scary to see how many people thinks its her fault in some way that a man beat on her. he said it best uncontrolled rage i dont care what a woman does its better to just leave her and the situation than for a man to put his hands on her. Men are physically stronger by nature than women (no knock on women). This next generation of women better start demanding more respect for themselves and stop letting men who have fame an money dictate how you live. start being more independent and stop looking for some star to take care of you. because when you are in a relationship where the man has all the power you are nothing to him. star struck women are going to get struck upside the head and keep going back for more. ms independent wont stand for disrespect and thats the woman your scared to loose.
I have to say, Chris Brown’s publicist is the dumbest person on the face of the planet. S/he waited until her had to promote an album before advising that an apology would be in order. Real Classy
A day late and dollar short. Nice cue card reading except for the poor english. Must be time to drop his 1st single off next album.
I believe his apology and will accept it to a certain extent. If his mother taught him better then he should know that what he did is inexcusable in our society. Nevertheless, I can accept his apology as a human being, but not as an artist. I care not to hear his music ever again. All I can say is what a waste, because he is such a gifted artist.
He still doesn’t get it. It’s not about uncontrolable rage. It’s about the desire to control another person. The violence is not a lack of control of yourself its the desire to control your significant other. He knew exactly what he was doing when he did it.
Sigh. If he hadn’t used a teleprompter this MIGHT have be passable. The prewritten speech, though, makes this an unacceptable excuse for an apology. (Also… does anyone else think that releasing a YouTube apology is tacky? I know we’re in the digital age, but it seems like a pretty sad venue for a celebrity apology.) Final thought: Whose idea was it that he bring up his “fortune”? Bad choice of words, PR people. Bad choice.
Wow, it only took him five months after the event to issue this public apology. NOT accepted.
I hope he really has learned from his mistake and never tries to control or abuse someone again, but I can never listen to his music or respect him as a person or artist again.
This is bull. He waited 5 months to see if it impacted his album sales. I hope his career fails. These are not the kind of role models that our youth needs. Sorry doesn’t always cut it, especially when forced to do it by your PR.
I forgive/been forgave Chris Brown!!! Everybody makes mistakes in life, at least he was man enough to finally apologize!!! You have to give credit where credit is due that boy is still talented no matter what!!! Do ya thang Chris Brown and don’t let haters bring you down!!!

who cares if your attorney tells you not to! the right thing would have to do this the day after.
U r only human. We all make mistakes. So everyone deserves a second chance. So seek ur help that u need. Thank u 4 the apology. Hopefully u will come out with something new soon.
Chris, my advice to you is to get yourself some new friends and advisors. You should have not waited 5 months to see how this plays out. You must surround yourself w/people who have your best interest at heart. The best thing you could do for yourself is to get out of the business for awhile and take some classes or do some volunteer work. Educate yourself. Believe me, the people who are surrounding you are not protecting you. Please keep Michael Jackson in mind.
Chris Brown i forgive you and im glad that you made an apology , i hope that you have learned from it and will never do it again
The way I feel is that Chris doesn’t owe us an apology; he owes Rihanna. He said that he has apologized to her more than one time. Yes, he was wrong; however who are we not to forgive him. Everybody has done some things that we are ashamed of. People are not perfect. I hope that if some of you lose control & people don’t forgive you. You will experience what Chris is going through. I feel bad for Chris & Rihanna. His career shouldn’t suffer for one mistake. If if happens again, yes but not now.
