Chris Brown’s formal sentencing in an L.A. court this afternoon brings his experience with the criminal justice system to a symbolic end of sorts. Per the terms he agreed to when he pleaded guilty this June to felony assault of his former girlfriend Rihanna, Brown will now serve 1,400 hours of “labor-oriented” community service in Virginia as well as five years of supervised probation.
Now begins the next chapter in Brown’s career, distasteful as it may seem to many. But is his audience ready to move on? Was justice for the extremely serious act of violence he committed served with today’s sentencing? Even after he’s picked up his last piece of trash and attended his last court-ordered domestic violence counseling session, will it feel okay to listen to new music from Brown? His label has said nothing about any upcoming projects, yet these are questions that will need to be answered sooner or later. Share your thoughts in the comments section below.

It’s not enough for what he did to her. I’m all for giving him a second chance, but he has to earn it.
I agree what he did was very wrong and should have never happened, but what about her responsibility to what happened in Feb. and previously, she is not completely inocent and has played a role too that was wrong.
Come ON! YOU are what is WRONG with society. It’s no WONDER women all over the country are abused and won’t come forward, won’t testify, won’t leave their abusers. Doesn’t matter that they both argued. Doesn’t matter that she threw his keys. Doesn’t matter even if she was hitting him, too. He’s significantly physically stronger than she, and he BEAT HER UP – badly. Had she somehow been able to do the same to him, maybe if she’d used a weapon, then different story. But she couldn’t, and didn’t. DO NOT think for ONE MINUTE that she owns any responsibility in her being beaten up or that she somehow “had it coming.” Disgusting.
I couldn’t agree more, Matt.
It wasn’t Okay to listen to his music before, it’s exponentially so, now.
LOL
Well said.
Hahaha, yes.
if this were facebook i would Like this.
Total agreement.
I will never forgive Chris for what he did to Rihanna. No man should ever do that to ANYONE. Chris has lost all my respect and I will never listen to his music again.
And to think I actually sorta liked his music before…:(
He suks and i wish he would have tried those shinanigans on me.. Then i would be the one doing the community service.. What a loser..
That is so not enough. Why is it that famous people get it off so easily, yet if an ordinary guy off the street were to do this to his girlfriend he would be in prison right now? It is not fair, and he should get the same punishment as the next guy.
Actually, an ordinary guy off the street wouldn’t go to jail, and would likely have gotten a much lighter sentence. There is the real crime.
His music was crap before. Now it’s crap wrapped in guilt. I’ll pass.
Agreed
I like your way of thinking.
yes it’s crap. but it’s not wrapped in guilt. the guy doesn’t even have the decency to show some real remorse. disgusting.
I told you. Give him jail, give him hell.
Once a man hits, he will always go there again.
His sentence falls in line with what other first time offenders get here in CA. While it seems he got off light, its really not the case when you look at similar offenses. I am no way condoning what he did…hitting a woman is NEVER ok. Just simply saying he wasnt treated any better because he’s a celeb. I wonder if this case will cause the CA judicial system to change…
I’m glad to see that he didn’t have a reduced sentence because of his fame. I think his label should do the responsible thing and drop him.
yes what chris brown did was wrong but hes doing his time on probation ok people. cuz wat if it were in this situation and u were vulnerable what whould have you done? but if it was you doing what chris did what whould you say? oh i no he/she made me do it
Ok seriously people, what he did was horrid and should not be taken lightly at all….. but it has NOTHING to do with singing! Just like Michael Vick torturing dogs had nothing to do with playing football. One doesn’t negate the other.
I Agree
I don’t know. The Eagles recently signed Vick, and I know that I’m no longer supporting them.
He had the most potential to be the next big megastar, but now that is ruined. I’ll still change the station whenever his songs come on.
His sentence is not serious enough for what he committed. He should have at least served jail time. I still wouldn’t listen to his music because of his attitude since then like it was no big deal and life goes on. I still don’t think he realizes the seriousness of his actions
I have no respect for a douche like Chris Brown. What he did to Rihanna was unforgivable. He’ll smack around another girlfriend, it’s just a matter of time.
