This could be a hit! Crossing my fingers that it will be.
As for the autotune… eh. I hate it, personally, but it’s becoming more and more of a necessary evil in today’s music industry.
IMO it’s a cross between Avril and Miley. It think the tweens will love it, but as an adult, it’s not something I would ever listen to.
Blechhh! I had high hopes for this girl, but her true voice is just lost on this song – no power, no rawness. It sounds like it is just another piece of electronically-patched-together noise from the ever-so-shallow Katy Perry team.
SHUTUP, this song is perfect for her to start her young career, its young, its cool, it has meaning, its catchy, its fresh, its lifting, this will probably the most pop-ish song on her album, maybe career, who knows, but its AH-MAZING! GREAT JOB SLEZAK GREAT JOB ALLISON
definitely not my cup of tea, but it may relate well with teens because of the message. Wonder if her entire album will be geared toward teens….I’m guessing yes.
She’s 17. What did you expect?
Great review Michael, I just wanted to say that I love the song and I think is a great first single for The Rocker.
I’m sure she will record a lot of Classic Rock songs in the future and maybe on her album but for a first single, Friday I’ll Be Over U is perfect!
Que Viva La Rocker!
I’m kinda sad cause I kinda hate it. Yes, better than Demi or Miley or the other teen pop tarts. But for Allison? I was hoping for something less… WalMart.
But seriously, think about it guys.
Allison is SEVENTEEN.
Could she ever make a career out of singing truly sultry, deeply raw, ADULT songs ala Janis Joplin, in TODAY’s music industry? Not to mention that rock culture has always been very hostile to female singers in general, and only a few have been able to break in… she’s also very young, and while her voice has the ability to sound very mature, it wouldn’t fit her persona or image to have songs like that on her album.
Pop rock, ala Avril and Demi, is the way to go right now, like it or not. And hopefully later on she can develop into a singer like Pink… but face it, Allison isn’t terribly mature right now and that kind of dark material wouldn’t work… YET.
So all in all, this is a perfect first single for Allison.
Very disappointing. TPTB took an edgy, Joplin-like rocker and turned her into a poppy Avril Lavigne. I can hardly recognize Alison’s voice in this mess, and we all know that girl can sing! Like Kris’s single, the producers went for “catchiness” rather than allowing these promising artists to show their unique strengths. Truly awful, IMO.
sounds a bit like Kelly &/or Pink…the problem is that isn’t as good as either one. She has a lot of talent though – hopefully the rest of the CD is better.
Alison is wonderful and I hope that she enjoys great success BUT when will we get a single release from Adam Lambert?
…NEVER.
He doesn’t exist. You imagined it all.
LOL! If I’m hallucinating, may I never recover!
Ha Ha!! That was funny!

Rocker saved <3
Slezak,please. It’s EXACTLY like a Gomez/Lovato song.
Slezak was more positive about Kris’ LLWD than he is being about Allison’s single, even though he loves Allison best… I’ll bet he realizes what kind of song this is too, specifically teen pop rock, but he’s going to support her (and realizes that Allison was going to have to go into this genre anyway). And as teen pop rock goes, it’s pretty good!
Agreed. But could you have seen Slezak dissing an Allison song? It wasn’t going to happen. He’s the least unbiased guy out there.
I like the 80-ish vibe to it. It’s cool.
