Transatlantic chart-topping singer Leona Lewis was assaulted at a book signing in London, reports the BBC.
Lewis had been signing copies of her new autobiography when the incident happened. A witness told the BBC the alleged attacker “walked up there with the book, she signed it, and as she looked up he just punched her.”
The “Bleeding Love” singer ran out of the room covering her eye while security dragged the man out of the bookstore, who, according to another eyewitness, “Was just laughing—he thought it was funny.”
Lewis did not require hospital treatment, but her spokesman said the X-Factor winner was “understandably badly shaken.”

I am surprised it happened to Leona. She doesn’t seem to be the kind of celebrity that would inspire such a thing. Spencer Pratt, Jon and Kate, or Glenn Beck, for example, would not have surprised me one bit.

Its a sad wake up for the part of fame that no one ever wants to have to deal with. There are some really twisted, sick people out there!! I’m glad she’s okay.

From all the interviews I’ve seen and articles I’ve read, it seems like she’s such a sweet woman. How said. I wouldn’t even wish a punch in the face on courtney love, so I find it troubling that this happened to someone with much more character.
