On Wednesday, Kris Allen took to Twitter with news that thrilled and delighted fans of the American Idol season 8 champ: “You guys know what I miss…..the show Doug. So good. Oh btw……..done with the album!” Now, EW.com is happy to exclusively report the final track listing for Allen’s upcoming self-titled debut disc, set to drop Nov. 17 via 19 Recordings/Jive, which has been confirmed by a 19 rep. Conspicuously absent from the disc are any tracks co-written with Chris Daughtry and Mat Kearney — two artists with whom Allen had previously discussed having successful writing sessions. The baker’s dozen of titles — with songwriting credits in parentheses — reads as follows:

Actually, Taylor Hicks was the first to not include his Idol winner’s single, in his case, “Do I Make You Proud”. His debut post-idol album remains my favorite debut album from any idol. Let’s hope this is a sign Kris’s will be just as good!
No Boundaries sounds like something The Fray would do. I believe that Kris may continue a trend of avoiding the coronation song on their first album. I’m sure he’s ready to show everyone his pop rock sound a lot more.
I am so excited for this album! I’m psyched that “I Need to Know” and “Red Guitar” made it! The next three weeks are going to be hard to live through.
(I guess this means “… Baby One More Time” is not going to be a bonus track, then? Alas.)
Wow, I totally didn’t know Heartless was making it. Hopefully it’s better than the Idol recording which was kind of painful! Loved it with just the acoustic guitar and Kris singing. Can’t wait for this album!

I love that Heartless is going to be on the album. If I think back to Kris’ time on AI, Heartless and Aint No Sunshine were my two favorite peformances of his. Loved them live on the tour too.

Sorry, Kris does not appeal to a larger audience – the religious right in the US just has more power than the normal Idol audience. There was no way they were going to allow someone like Adam to win. What’s funny is they probably wont go out and buy Kris’ CD. In fact, I was at a Idol party the night of the finale and out of the 25 people there only 4 were Adam voters. When I asked the other 21 people if they have ever bought an Idol CD the answer was 100% no. When I asked if they planned on buying Kris’ Cd – only 1 said they would. When I asked why they voted for Kris then their responses varied but all came down to not wanting someone “like Adam” winning. Is that true for all of the votes Kris got? No. But something tells me there was a lot of that happening. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see over the next few years how it all plays out.
If the show was fixed, then Adam Lambert would have won–he was clearly the favorite of the judges, and he was absolutely shocked to lose. Looks like the fans have better taste than the judges, thank goodness. Looking foward to Kris’s album.

I am getting a free copy of it from the label and passing it to everyone I know. Thankfully I live in LA and know tons of peeps – in the industry and out and I have no problem giving it away for free.
