Adam Lambert, 'For Your Entertainment': Stream the brand-new single here

Hold on to your smurf-ilicious hair extensions, Glambert fans; this morning, Ryan Seacrest unveiled the titular single from the American Idol runner-up’s November 23 debut album, For Your Entertainment: A hushed acoustic meditation on … KIDDING. It’s the sonic equivalent of a dynamited disco ball. Did you expect any less? Listen below:

So… are you entertained?

UPDATE: Adam’s rep tells EW that the song will most likely be removed from various internet sites as quickly as it pops up, so you can play YouTube whack-a-mole, or look for it to stream later today on adamofficial.com. Otherwise, the song goes to iTunes officially on Monday, November 2.

Great … what the world needs is another Lady Gaga. This was obviously as tune Lady Gaga rejected and Adam snatched up.

    • SFS

There goes the Kris stans, camping out on EW waiting for an Adam thread to troll.

      LOVE THIS SONG!

      • Eric

As others have said it’s an over-produced song. I have nothing against Adam and if he does something I think is good I will say it’s good. I just don’t think this song is good. I also don’t like Allison’s first single and feel it sounds like it was meant for someone else.

      • Huh?

Umm, sweetie, FYI, you dont need to be a kris fan or idol hater in order NOT to like this bland, generic pop tune. You can barely recognize his voice.

      • c

i’ve never heard kris or adam before, consequently I’m not a kris fan, but I don’t like this song… at all.

      • TK

I am so disappointed! While I love Adam I hate this song! I had to listen to it like 5 times to make sure it was him. You don’t really notice that it is Adam till the end, when you hear his what people call “screams”. What a big let down. Think I will just not buy any idol’s album. If the rest of the songs are NOT better than this, then I am done………I am now ashamed I even put others down when they were talking about his album cover. This song sucks!

      • dave

Yup, TK. I guess you’re now realizing why a lot of people hate, not on Adam, but on his crazy fans knows as Glamberts. Because all they do is make hyperbolic comments about him before even hearing 2 seconds of a song. And they put anyone down (as you said you did) for merely making a comment that is anything short of high praise. It’s completely ridiculous and pathetic. On the post for his 2012 song, I said that I’m a fan of his but I didn’t like the song and I was verbally attacked by several people, all of whom called me a hater and ridiculed me and said I was lying about being a fan. People are allowed to be fans but still dislike something he does. We don’t have to follow blindly like sheep. A true fan will never just say they like a song when they really don’t. You can give constructive criticism when necessary.
All I want to say to you, TK, is that you don’t have to give up on him just because you dislike one song. If you don’t like the song, go ahead and say it. Keep your integrity. But there may be other songs on his album that you do like. You can be a fan without looooving every single thing he does.

      • HUH?

I am not a Kris fan, he is too soft rock for me, but Adam came off on the show like he was a Rocker and he wasn’t. There was only ONE true rocker in the top 5 and we all know who that was, and it was NOT Adam.

      • regina

i love this song too! go away haters

      • Trish

Why do people always assume it is Kris fans that put Adam down, when is is obviously Gokey fans that do that all the time. They are still bitter. Have you heard the joke: How does Gokey describe Adam in 5 and a half words- the answer: If only if wasn’t for Ad… That says it all.

      • Mia

I wasn’t a Kris fan. Until I heard Adam’s snippets of songs that sounded like they were ripped form the Walmart bargain 5.99 bargain racks. Now I am a Kris fan.

      • Mia

Trish, hon…its ALL music fans that are ripping on Adam.

    • Andrea

THis is not the song that Lady Gaga wrote for Adam. Right now, Adam has two songs out: a power ballad and a dance tune. I think it is good marketing. Did you hate the power ballad as well? I don’t think Britney or Gaga would be teaming up with Justin Hawkins or Muse, now, would they? It is hard to judge an artist by ONE single, is all I am saying.

      • Eric

I’m not saying the rest of Adam’s songs will suck. And I have no clue who wrote this single. It just feels like it was meant for someone else. It would have fit someone else better then Adam. I’m not giving up on Adam. I’ll listen to his album when it comes out. I might like all the rest of it or only half of it. I’m very open minded. I just didn’t enjoy either of his first two releases.

      • Huh?

We are judging THIS song, not adam in general. Why so defensive Andrea? Really, get over yourself. and if people are judging the album, well, a FIRST single SOMETIMES is indicative of the level of talent of a particular album.

      • Andrea

Hey, it’s more than okay with me if you do not like the song. My point was that Lambert has said more thn once that he was going to include different styles on his record; dance/electronica was just one. I don’t think it is his intention to be defined by one genre. What was his intent with this particular song? To create something epic which will transform the music industry? I think he said on Seacrest’s show this morning, and again on his twitter…the intent was to make people get up and dance, that’s all. It isn’t going to be for everyone. There might be other things in the future, however, which other people will find more interesting musically. Time will tell. Let’s see what he has done with all of the opportunities given him. Just sayin’.

      • Eric

I agree with waiting to see what else he puts out.

      • Michael

“Time for Miracles” is kind of a bomb…debuted at No. 50 on Hot 100 with no chance to go any further without airplay…”For Your entertainment” is Adam’s only shot at a hit right now.

      • Tinia

It also seems that Time for Miracles was on the top of the charts because of Adam’s existing fanbase. When it was released it soared to the top of the charts (iTunes, mostly) because so many of his fans downloaded it then, but even after its music video has been released and the movie it is featured in was released, TFM has only sunk further and further down the charts, and hasn’t caught on outside of the AI bubble at all. It’s now out of the iTunes 100.

      • Mandi

Michael that is unfair. Well only because his album will be here in about 3 weeks. So if that song is not a hit, then I am sure something on his album will be. Maybe that Pink/Max song or that one from the Muse. THOSE are two songs I am waiting for. This song I think was released first because it is catchy, and radio friendly. The major thing I have against it is Adam has such a beautiful voice, why did they hide it most of the song? I couldn’t tell it was Adam till the very last. Others have suggested that he is singing it in a different style than we haven’t heard yet, well if that is so, he sure is doing that! I don’t hate the song, but I am not in love with it, yet. Maybe after a listen or two or 50 (LOL) it will grow more on me. I do know that by the listening to it the second time it was growing on me so who knows……….maybe it will be like that for many. It sure doesn’t suck nor is it boring……..could see myself dancing to this in my favorite club…..;)

      • Paulie

This is directed toward Tinia who stated that 2012 has already been released in theaters. That is not true. It’s out sometime in November.

      • Tinia

Paulie: I was referring to This Is It, actually – I should have clarified. It was reported a while back that the music video for “Time For Miracles” would be shown in theaters with Michael Jackson’s This Is It, and I was talking about how that exposure is not even helping sales.

      • Michael

Mandi: you misread what I wrote. It was a response to Andrea who said that Adam has 2 different types of songs. All I was saying was that TFM clunked and that FYE was his only shot at a hit RIGHT NOW. If FYE delivers, I’m sure he’ll be releasing another song, but that won’t be until the Jan. or Feb.

      • Mandi

Sorry Michael, ty for clarifing that.

      • steve

love it and love how radio stations are already picking it up and playing it before it gets added officially.

      • terie

@tinia … The movie ‘2012′ has not debuted as yet with “Time for Miracles” on the soundtrack … it will debut Nov. 13th … FYI

    • This Huh? is not me

      I love it.

    • HUH?

That is why I was solidly behind Allison. Allison was the real Rocker on the show. It seems as Adam was not showing his real self on the show and on tour. He was really a Britney type singer, not a real Rocker. What a burn.

      • Tsai

This song show 100% adam’s personal lifestyle on lyric.even this isn’t my cup of tea.but I don’t agree adam was not showing his real self.

      • Erin

Don’t be a hypocrite. If you’re going to criticize Adam, you have to criticize Allison too. Her single is pure bubblegum pop, the furthest thing from rocker persona.

      • Andrea

Hey, I am a fan of Alison as well, and I was disappointed in her first debut. It is NOT a rock song, is it? It sounds like a Miley Cyrus teen bubble gum song. I hope she will do well, though. I am hoping from some ROCK from her later on. I guess there is nothing wrong with these kids from AI trying to cater to the masses and actually make some money.

    • Super Duper

I heard Adam was gonna sing one of Lady GaGa’s left overs. I guess beggars can’t be choosy.

    • Truth Be Told

Oh it will be a big hit, no doubt about it. Just like Britney’s Womanizer and GaGa’s Poker Face, but at what cost? Lambert’s credibility.

      • Omega

        What credibility?

    • Lola

if adam lambert sound like Lady gaga, would kill me myself , come on! , that I had not heard before on radio, is unique…This song is SOOOOOOOO GOOOOOOOODDDDDDDDDDD ¡i am excited! Adam is a flame !! SOOOO HOTTTTTT

    • delaynah

oh shut up people! Do you think you are the only voice here. If you don’t like it then piss-off. why spend too much time arguing about a fantastic, out of this world tune? This is the 21st century people, we need fusion, we need modern hit. We need to Party, hit the floor and get-down people. So STFU and leave this to those who love the music. I know there are millions out there enjoying this moment….FYE, here I come!

      • Mandi

Alright Delaynah! You said what I am sure alot of people were thinking just didn’t say! Woot Woot!

      • terie

Ellen D. likes this song … said so on Twitter … ADAM is scheduled for her show 12/1 and Letterman 11/25 … I don’t think this song or TFM is hurting ADAM one bit … BTW .. she loves both album covers too … in short … she LOVES ADAM!!

      • Mia

Well, from those of us whose bubble is much bigger and diverse than yours…I say suck it.

    • Don

Love this song! Great dance track and Top 40 written all over it. way to go Adam!!

    • allinda

not at all which proves you people dont even listen to the lyrics if so, you’d see they were OBVIOUSLY written for adam fans. Dr Luke, genius. this is the only man today doing modern pop with a combination of modern effects with a rock homage. get used to it it’s gonna be blaring on every radio for a long time. this boy is epic. the gaga tune is fever.

    • J28

Idk about being a tune Gaga rejected or wrote for Adam. But it does remind me of a Gaga song or one she would do. And I HATE Lady Gaga. I was hoping for more something like he portrayed on Idol. The Rock/Glam/Edgy stuff.

    • Nino

Adam is not a rocker that is for sure. He is a phony.

  • Chichi

    THIS SONG IS EAR-CRACK!!!!

    • daynalane

      MY EARS CAME

    • Brian

Haha, crack! What an apt metaphor.

  • jazzy

That song does not deserve Adam Lambert’s voice, it’s like all his creativity is stripped away and replaced with manufactured pop….but that’s just me. Disappointed. Love Time for Miracles, that’s Adam.

    • Marie

That song was nothing but saccharine garbage. This one’s catchy, but really, I’m a tad disappointed.

      • gigi

I totally agree. I was like Adam Lambert is going to come out with something edgy and eye openning and this is more like a left over Britney Spears song. I’m sure it will get plenty of air play, but I too am sadly disappointed.

    • MrsGIMO

ITA with “jazzy”…Adam’s voice is awesome and his music should showcase his incredible talent.

    • TK

I agree. Damn, it is something BRITNEY could have done.

      • Ryan

Yah? So does that mean it’s going to go #1 as well? If that was supposed to be a diss, it’s not. Britney makes major cash and once Adam gets into a groove, he will too.
        Pop sells big.

    • Sally in Chicago

It sounds like something that Britney would sing….and I think that’s what they’re aiming for, her audience.

      • Mandi

I could see Britney singing this, more her style, sure. I just heard her “3″ song and I like this one much better than THAT one. But then I am not much of a Britney fan. I am an Adam fan so I will keep on keeping on for him and hope for the best.

      • HUH?

Michael was right to back Allison. You knew that she was the TRUE Rock star on the show. Adam just played a Rocker on the show and fooled the foolish, but we all know who was the real Rocker.

      • Kerry Jackson

Well after I thought about it. The song does sux. lol

      • Kerry Jackson

Who is the idiot using my name? Freaking Bas*ard! I didn’t write that. I love this song and for the idiot who wrote that, FO!

    • Kerry Jackson

Why in the hell didn’t they use this photo for his cover? It is fantastic! This song has grown on me. I have listened to it like 30 times and I am borderline in love with it! Not too shabby Adam boy. You might just have a HIT on you!

      • Oh Please

The song is terrible and plain Pop crap.

      • Kerry Jackson

@Oh Please. Yeah atleast I use my REAL name unlike your hide behind a stupid nic thing. So you don’t like it, well then get over it and don’t listen, I have the right to my opinion, AND I LOVE THE CRAP OUT OF IT! You can hate it all you want, but “OH PLEASE” shut the F up already!

    • Nessie

This is just another facet of Adam’s personality and talent, his fans are so diverse and it will be hard for him to please everyone but I am sure there will be other songs on his album to satisfy us all, I for one am desperate to hear some real Adam sounding gutsy vocals. In this song there are moments I can hear it is our gorgeous Adam but otherwise it could be anyone. I can’t wait to hear the rest of his album I hope it is a mixture of genres and not all dance/pop.I want his signature screaming and also his tender pure voice as well…I will be holding my breath. I just want to hear Adam that’s all.

  • J

Ehhh… so not catchy at all. letdown.

  • Alex

Am I the only one who’s suspicious of the over-producing here? I can hardly hear Glambert’s distinctive voice. Thumbs down.

    • js

Exactly! Producers just don’t get it….we love his voice…HIS talent doesn’t have to be covered up or masked.

      • crispy

That’s why I’ve been harping on for weeks in these threads about why the producers are so important. I believe this track is produced by Dr. Luke. Too bad he didn’t let Adam Lambert’s natural voice shine through a bit more. It’s still a fun song though.

      • kct

I agree. He has such a distinctive voice and I didn’t hear that in this song. I can’t wait to hear a true ROCK song from him- I think that’s where he shines and sets himself apart. That said, I bet it will be a big success.

      • TK

I know Quiet Desperation, THAT song I like. I even like TFM, I do NOT like this song. Maybe I will go clubbing and it might sound great there, just not for a first single. WTF are the people behind 19 and RCA thinking? You can’t even tell this is Adam, not till the end. BIG LET DOWN.

      • mitchell

Don’t blame this mess on the producers. I’m sure Adam was somewhere in the studio at the time. To tell you the truth, I don’t think they were in love with Adam’s voice.

      • Kerry Jackson

Mithcell your comment sucks! LOL I know you were being sarcastic, but the producers DO have the majority say, so don’t just leave it on Adam. They are in love with his voice, that is all I have heard from many of the producers, songwriters, hell anyone that has heard him record this album. This song is not a mess, it is DIFFERENT but that is not always wrong. I think Adam is trying to get to a more younger audience with this one song, and he just might do it. His fanbase should understand this, (I do) and just wait for his album. He said he did not want to be in just one genre, so I am sure there is something for everyone on this album! Thumping my feet as I write, listening to his song and damn if it ain’t catchy and fun! Anyone who doesn’t atleast move apart of your body to this, well are you dead? You don’t have to love the song, but your body might! :)

    • carol522

Listen to Adam sing a song called “Quiet Desperation” on youtube. Its sung almost entirely in his lower register. I think a lot of people really don’t know the many layers of Adam’s singing.

    • Lauren

I totally agree. There are like 4 times I can hear his famous and amazing vocals where he holds out a note…. I was wondering why no one was saying this! Its a good song, but he was a hit because of his voice, and it was over popped out in this one

  • PJ

All we heard during Idol was how Adam was going to be a superstar, and this is what gets put out? I don’t see this having much success other than on a dance chart. The song’s also pretty self indulgent, but that’s not surprising given the person we’re dealing with.

    • Sally

What we are dealing with is a genius!

      • Brian

Sally, look up genius and then read a newspaper.

      • Kerry Jackson

Awwwwwwwwww Brian, that was so sad what you wrote. Now we are attacking those who love Adam? Not cool if you ask me, you didn’t but hey I put it out there anyways.

  • RJP

It’s alright……one of those songs the more you hear it the better it gets

  • RJF

Not as good as time for miracles…but I like it!!!!

    • crispy

This song is a million times better than that Aerosmith knock-off.

      • Kerry Jackson

I agree with you Crispy. Hey I love this pic for this single, does anyone else think it should have been put on his album cover? Me Me!!! LOL Damn I know I have said this before but am listening to his song yet again and it makes me move, and in a happy mood. Isn’t that a good thing? My BF says so!

  • Sally

    It is wonderfullllll. yee!

  • Phil

Ok, so since EW has given us yet ANOTHER American idol blog post, with inevitable TWLIGHT related post today, and the inevitable how much money exactly is THIS IS IT (MJ post) popping up tonight or tomorrow before the box office numbers are released Sunday, how bout I say that anyone that is a fan of this track go buy the awesome La Roux album. “Bulletproof” was the free iTunes singles of the week last month the week the album dropped and has popped on many of the Fall tv series such as Cougar Town & The Beautiful life. I am so SICK of seeing all these Idol posts all week long, when the albums don’t even drop for another few weeks. I understand Idol is big entertainment news, but SERIOUSLY regardless of the rabid & sometimes CRAZY fanbases…the other people in the world who ENJOY pop culture, don’t need to hear about Kris, Adam or Allison everyday when NONE of them have an actual album out yet. its disgusting and forceful. As for this single…its actually good, and much more radio friendly than “Time For Miracles”…but I am sure Slezak will write up YET another post on that later today…SIGH

    • Brian

Somebody got some tinkle tinkles in his cornfwakes wah wah!

    • Alan

Exactly! Between the Twilight articles every 10 minutes and the American Idol articles every 15 minutes, I feel about 15 years too old for EW nowadays (I’m 32)

      • Phil

I’m glad someone else feels like i do and actually supported me on this. I will bet all my Halloween candy that the EW in 2 weeks will either feature Kris, or Kris & Adam together, BUT wait, I could be mistaken since technically that’ll be the same LAST issue to promote NEW MOON before it opens the following week….so that’ll be the cover in 3 weeks. WHERE CAN I CLAIM MY PRIZE since y’all have GUESS THE COVER contests via e-mail, I’m just making sure my picks are locked in early….And Alan, I’ve been a subscriber since I was 15, I’m now 31, also feel 15 years too old.

      • RR3

So you say, how about adding 10 years in agem and deducting 20 on intelligence…

    • Kerry Jackson

Hey so Slezak doesn’t jump on the first news about Adam like he does Kris and Allison. Its all good. There are plenty other staff writers who jump on the chance, and sometimes that is a good thing! Well to me anyways.

      • Tinia

Slezak hasn’t even weighed in yet on the leaked Kris Allen snippets from the single, so let’s put that accusation of yours to rest, okay, Kerry? The guy has a life, so cut him some slack.

      • HUH?

Hey at least Allison was true to herself and never acted like something she wasn’t. She was the real deal, and it was Adam who was playing like a Rocker on the show to get foolish people to buy his music. Sorry but I am sticking WITH THE REAL ROCKER on the show…not the phony one.

Even Slezak knew and was telling people “SAVE THE WORLD, SAVE THE ROCKER” and it was not Adam.

        You Glamberts got played.

      • Kerry Jackson

Hey Tinia, I said “first” news, like as in the first single. He did weigh in with both Allison and Kri’s debut single. So how about you give me a break and actually read what I write before YOU speak, um, ok? Thanks.

      • Kerry Jackson

Hey “huh” how was Allison true to herself? She presented herself as a Rocker, and I am sure she is, just like Adam, but her single is like Adam’s pop and catchy. I think the management team behind both sure know more about what they are doing than you or me. But don’t say that crap about her being true to herself. She might be but not going by her first single, just as you are saying about Adam. I love them both but I ain’t the one making accusations here.

  • Amanda P.

It doesn’t sound like the Adam we are used to, however, I am open to hearing anything that he sings. I know some people will hate it and others will love it. It was that way with “Time For Miracles”, too. Adam is only human and can’t make everyone happy. If you are a true fan than you will want him to be successful and be excited for him that his first single is being released. What a great day for him!

    • djm

Well, for all the build-up for this single I have to say I am a little disappointed. Don’t get me wrong – i think the single will do well – especially if paired with a great video – I just was thinking that “glam rock” sounded different than this (which to me is dance pop). I have to wonder though if he released this as a companion piece to “Time For Miracles” – you know like the complete opposite of a power rock ballad is a dance pop single and if both are going to be on the charts at the same time…
Hmmm – like the CD cover I think I will have to process this for a bit before I decide if I love it or not.

      • Andrea

@djm: Agree with you. That is the point I was trying to make earlier. I had read in NYMichael’s blog (he is an industry insider who writes about Adam and his potential for success) that this was the direction that the company wanted to go in: have two songs out at the same time, both completely different, both catering to different audiences. There are people on here who are quick to write Adam off, saying that TFM has “clunked” and that FYE is his only chance. TIme will tell. The movie companion to the song has yet to be released. What is interesting about Adam is that he is a performer who can do many, many genres with his voice. This cannot be said about many other artists, or the other two popular idols, Allison and Kris.(Both of whom I also like.) According to NYMichael, the corporate powers that be even at Sony are convinced Adam will make them a bucket of money. Hence, pairing his song with the trailer that appeared before the MJ movie, which they own. The point I will make is that they obviously believe in Adam, and they are going to do everything to make him successful and a big star. He is getting access to the biggest and best people in the business to help him. They will not give up on him as they might on other idols. Contrary to what some people think or may be hoping, Adam’s entire career will not hinge on one record. You can read this blogger’s assessment of what is happening from the point of view of someone inside the industry. So far, he has been pretty accurate. shttp://nymichael.com/

      • terie

@djm: Finally … the voice of reason!!

      • djm

I get what you are saying Andrea – and I agree. I know someone fairly high up at 19Entertainment and he has assured me that they are committed to Adam and his music – and I believe him. I ended up buying “For Your Entertainment” from Adam’s site on Friday and I am so loving it. No, it’s not what I expected (not that I knew what to expect – it just wasn’t this necessarily) but I really love the single. I think his CD will be influenced by many different styles of music and I am sure it will do well. I think everyone just needs to relax and let the CD come out – Rome was not built in a day and Adam’s CD is about more than just one song.

    • Eva

      Best comment yet!

      • Eva

        Amanda P. you rock!

    • RJF

      You are so right!!!!!!

  • Me

Love it, it is so goddamn catchy and filthy! Awesome this is going to be huge!

  • Duderononomy Jones

Let’s not forget that Britney’s “3″ (which IMHO is a dull, auto-tuned sonic abortion) debuted at #1. This is moderately better so it’ll be HUGE!

  • mm

Sounds like a male Britney Spears.

    • Murp

      Exactly!

      • Kerry Jackson

And how is that a wrong thing? LOL I don’t agree but it is a catchy song and I could see Britney singing it. But I like Adam and not her so I am glad he did. Adam will be just fine.

  • graeme

The guy is crazy overhyped…but this isn’t half bad. I still don’t think he’s gonna sell well. He sounds exactly like what’s huge in Europe and fails miserably stateside.
