Britney Spears '3' music video: Welcome to the steam room

Filed under: Britney Spears, News and tagged: , ,

After the debut of Adam Lambert’s new single, it seemed like maybe we’d tapped out the gift-giving gods of the music world today. But no, they just keep giving! Hello, the video for Britney’s new single “3″ just landed on BritneySpears.com, and it’s H-O-T!

Literally, there’s steam included. (And it lands on the second anniversary of Blackout, no less.)

The recipe for said hotness? Honestly, not a whole lot. Truly, the video is sparse. But there’s not much to the single besides trite, ridiculous advocation for a ménage a trois anyway, so why would the video go any deeper? All we gots are a parade of barely-there outfits. Muscled backup dancers. One horizontal pole. Steam. A pair of sultry, lacy black tights. And a super low-cut swim suit with fun sunglasses. Stir together and voila!

As I was watching here in the office, one of my less-Britney inclined EW colleagues walked by, stopped for a minute to watch, and said: “That’s Britney Spears… now?” Yes surely, folks! It’s Britney now. Super sexy. You can debate about whether a mother of two should be writhing around in such a way, but what’s the point? Just enjoy:

Seriously, those black lace leggings are the jam.

One weird thing about the video, however, is the odd bleeping of the word “sin.” In “3,” Britney sings, “living in sin is the new thing,” but in this video it’s changed to “living in this is the new thing.” Huh? She can get humped in a thong by two strapping dudes but can’t tell the kiddies today that “living in sin is the new thing”? I’m perplexed by that. Because, clearly, living in sin is the new thing.

But, over to you MusicMixers: Do you love? Do you hate? Do you want that hot pair of heels she’s wearing at the beginning of the clip?

Yes, I do want those heels. Girl is looking hot! The video seems a bit choppy, but gotta love those Britney outfits, and hot muscle men.

  • Gina Vera

Love Britney glad to see she can still bring it. Wish she could have more Dancing in her videos like Stronger and Slave for you.

  • Ugly Jenny

I actually heard the song until now, and it’s horrible! Really, Peter, Mary, Paul? All her songs are starting to sound alike. Can’t she just go away and focus on being a good mom for a little while? Thumbs down for me!

    • basilio

the part peter paul and mary comes from a band in the 70s
that had 3sums on stage. clearly it relates to the song also every otheer celb gets to work while being parents and not watching there kids wtf cant she? also when she works people say shes not a good parent wen she doesnt work w call her a wash up. so wtff? oh and also if u actually listened to her music and lyrics wich im sure u dont u would kno her songs dont sound much the same and the lyrics go deeper than what is said. morannn

    welcome back, miss spears.

Seems like a failed attempt to make Single Ladies happen. I’ve seen youtube parodies better than this crap. She isn’t even attempting to do the dances full out. The girl is washed up and HAS TO THE FREAKING BEEN.

(Mia Michaels Voice) “It’s a no for me”

I don’t think it’s trying to be Single Ladies so much as a Pussycat Doll’s video. She hasn’t danced full out since she wreaked her knee for a second time. Still, it’s a good video. She’s not a has been when she was just at number one.

Thank you Britney for giving people something to obsess about today. I LOVE the video. The song really unless you take it to the explicit about three somes (which of course couldn’t be aired on television), there isn’t much to do but do it like they did it ith this kind of song. Britney looks terrific and sexy. Hard to believe she’s come a long way in the last two years. Way to go Britney.

I thought it was rather a bore. Please stop sticking out your tongue when lipsynching too. It looks stupid. She ain’t no Beyonce when dancing anymore.

  • Amy

She looks much better, and it’s a huge improvement from her Blackout days … I just think she needs to take a break to regroup and sort her personal life out. And be a mother. Take advantage of the fact that she can stay at home and spend time with her children without worrying about paying the bills. Best of luck to her.

have u not herd the black out album sure the year it came out she was mental but that was probably one of her best albums the lyrics go really deep u have to go behind wat it says and really listen to wat shes talking about

  • Brenda DuBois

I love Britney, but ARE THEY SERIOUS WITH THAT HAIR? When Kim Zolciak has better hair than you, you know you’re Britney.

  • Melissa

Is it just me or did she crash a Right Said Fred video?

  • paige

damn another catchy britney song… but why does she not dance anymore???

  • Justin

SO FREAKING HOT! I love it!

Definitely one of my favorites of hers. Show ‘em how it’s done Britney!

  • J

    H-A-W-T…

damn girl got it all back…

  • Phil

Ok…so…in the scenes when she is dancing with the males, there are only the three of them total in every shot, but when she is lined up dancing with the female back up dancers, there are her plus 4 gals…Seems like the director shoulda stuck to the three folks in every shot. Now it just seems he or she decided to show gratutious female booty rather than sticking to a concept that makes sense. As if the Peter, Paul & Mary thing was weird enough…
