This week, the first Glee soundtrack debuted at #4 on the charts with a strong 113,000 copies sold—an especially impressive performance given that all of the songs had already been available digitally.
Now, Columbia Records has announced a release date (Dec. 8th) and a full track listing for Glee: The Music, Vol. 2, which will feature the songs performed for the rest of the first 13 episodes. Amongst the stars to be covered? Kelly Clarkson, Lily Allen, Cyndi Lauper, the Rolling Stones(!) and John Lennon. See below, Gleeks!
- “Proud Mary
- “Endless Love”
- “I’ll Stand By You”
- “Don’t Stand So Close To Me / Young Girl”
- “Crush”
- “(You’re) Having My Baby”
- “Lean On Me”
- “Don’t Make Me Over”
- “Imagine”
- “True Colors”
- “Jump”
- “Smile” (cover of Lily Allen)
- “Smile” (cover of Charlie Chaplin)
- “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going”
- “Don’t Rain On My Parade”
- “You Can’t Always Get What You Want”
- “My Life Would Suck Without You”
Personally, I cannot wait for “True Colors” and “My Life Would Suck Without You!” And co-creator Brad Falchuk says that the cast performance of “Imagine,” which is a collaboration with a deaf choir, is truly something special. “I’m warning you to prepare for that,” says Falchuk. “There’s been no one who’s watched that number and not cried. It’s the most amazing thing you’ve ever seen.”
What do you think of this line-up, Music Mix-ers (and Gleeks)? Is there another blockbuster hit like “Don’t Stop Believin’” in this mix?

So excited. Love Glee. And I can’t wait for imagine. As well as And I’m Telling You…Amber Riley is amazing and even though this is a cliche song choice, I can’t help but be excited.
Though, I kind of wish they would not go w/ Amber on “And I’m Telling You”. It’s too expected.
I agree with you. As soon as I saw the song title, I thought “Oh gee, wonder who’s singing that one…” Wouldn’t it be great if Kurt or Tina sang that? It would unexpected and more interesting…but I’m sure Amber is gonna blow that song away!

Only finished 2 roudns but still finding my dbl unders. I think I did way more jumping rope than needed. Strength wise only did 45lbs, but very strict PU’s. Came down to the run (swim tomorrow), did 6x 1:38. Pretty happy with the results, considering I just started doing this.
Aw! I was hoping the mash-ups would be on this album! Oh well, guess I’ll just have to download them solo.
I’m excited for Lean On Me though, that’s like, my ultimate friends jam song, and it should pwn with the Glee cast.
I wish they would include the mashup songs the two groups of kids did. Those were so good. Guess I’ll get them off iTunes.
Oh yeah they should release a full track of mashups only!!!
BTW, I’m sending my requests again, in case of:
* A doo-wop rendition of Fantasia Burrino’s “When I see you”, or Jagged Edge’s “I gotta be” both by Mr Shue, Finn and Puck.
* New Edition’s “Cool It Now” or “Can you stand the rain”; Kurt singing Ralph Tresvant’s parts
* Little Mermaid’s “Part of your world” by Kevin “Artie” McHale
*Bobby Brown’s “My Prerogative” or “That’s the way love is” by Puckerman.
* Cindy Lauper’s “Girls just wanna have fun” by Tina
*Boyz II Men’s “End of the road” or “MotownPhilly” by the boys
* TLC’s “What about your friends” by the glee cast
great picks! I’m on board with your request list!!
All these t-shirts are great, but where\’s the wrapping paper? When I saw the first link, I saw all these t-shirt deingss on a red, Christmasy background and thought Yes! They also have wrapping paper! How about it? Wrapping paper doesn\’t have to be sold on a tube. You could fold it and put it in a big, sturdy envelope and mail it to us that way.My Dad loves to collect wrapping paper, and as poor as I am (about $10 grand/year), I\’d still buy some LOLcat and LOLdog wrapping paper. Please give it some thought. The more paper we buy and bury after we use it, the more carbon we sequester, the more the landfill microbes make natural gas we can pipe away, and the fewer acres of trees the paper companies will sell to Real Estate Investment Trusts (They\’ve already sold 10 million acres!). Just don\’t burn the paper in the barrel in the back of the farm yard.
I can’t wait for “Don’t Rain on My Parade”!! My show choir did that song for our closer my freshman year in high school! <3 AAAAH this is so exciting.
i saw this list already since amazon had it up the other day when i went to pre-order it, with a release day of dec 8th
i must say i can’t wait for it
i’m so excited about Cindi & John
but i wonder if this means no more preformance previews?
I buy the songs as singles (though I will admit I have most of what’s on the first Soundtrack). These songs look great I can’t wait, I’m looking forward to the Police cover
I was hoping for Ride Wit It to be on this set since it wasn’t on the first one-it’s one of the most joyous numbers I have seen performed on the show–maybe on the third soundtrack
Me too! I was hoping a complete version would be released, if not on the album, at least as a single.
I agree! Loved that one! Loved the raw, fresh, un-produced sound of it.
I’m so excited for “You Can’t Always Get What You Want”. I’ve been hearing it in the background for promos and wondered when it would be performed and released!
Don’t Stand So Close To Me and Young Girl? Is Mr. Shue going to have a Lolita moment?
In the preview for next week, Mr. Schuester is singing it to Rachel because she develops a crush on him.
Oh I can’t wait for the episode… it looks sooooo great!!! why can’t they air two episodes in a week???
I’ll Stand By You? Ooohh- I can’t wait!
I know she’s playing a high school girl, but damn if that Quinn Fabray isn’t hotter than all hell!
I can’t wait for “My Life Would Suck Without You”. I love Kelly Clarkson, and she is the reason I tuned in to the show for the first time last night. I didn’t want to miss them sing her song. They did not sing her song yet, but now I am a fan of the show. It is really good.
Wow that’s awesome! These guys are going to be putting out four cd’s a season at this rate!
Kinda an underwhelming list of tracks.
Where are the Mash ups: It’s My Life/Confessions and Halo/Walking on Sunshine???????
I know, why didn’t they include “It’s My Life/Confessions”?? That’s one of my favorite songs that they’ve performed on the show.
I’m pretty sure you can buy both off iTunes but I agree, it should be on the soundtrack.
