Miley Cyrus not a 'Twilight' fan: 'I've never seen it, nor will I ever'

yeah she did seem kinda obnoxious and full of herself, like she’s too “cool” for twilight among other things..
So do most of the people who dislike Twilight. They seem to think there is some inherent virtue in dismissing it as ‘crap’ or ‘horrible’. I am 29 and not ashamed to say I like the books and the first movie, and already have tickets to go see New Moon with my sister. Stephanie Meyer is no literary genius, but what I like is that she has captured that all-encompassing feeling of first love. Her books make me feel like a teenager again. That is Twilight’s value to me, and I couldn’t care less who thinks what about it.
I also couldn’t care less what Miley Cyrus has to say about anything, ever.
Word,Katyo. I thought she might have a degree of merit for singing about how music can help you get through tough times….then she couldn’t even name a JayZ song? And, said that pop is not even her type of music?? Poseur Extraordinaire!
I agree. I think that is the appeal of the stories for older readers–the ones who don’t care about the lead actors’ hotness–the obsessiveness of first love.
From hearing her comment, I get the feel she doesn’t want to be pigeon-holed as a typical teenager. She is going through that stage we all went through as “i’m unique, i am my own person…” Reminds me of Brine during that “I’m not a girl, yet not a woman” phase.

i should clarify that i haven’t seen Twilight and will never see it, b/c i have no interest in vampires or the subject matter, not b/c i have some indignant aversion regarding vampires.

It’s a sad, sad world when Miley Cyrus is beginning to make sense. I might just have to download “Party in the U.S.A.” (her only good song since “See You Again”) just because of this.

The only thing worse than Twilight is people disliking it for the wrong reasons. “I don’t believe in it”? Really? How about the fact that it’s a poorly written piece of melodramatic crap that romanticizing a controlling, abusive relationship?
Yep. Disliking Twilight because you “don’t believe in vampires” is a little like leaving the Catholic church because you don’t like the communion wafers.

@MJ, seriously! I can’t believe people are so on board with their relationship and how Edward treats her. Spousal abusers also claim that the only reason they’re so controlling is because of how much they love you. But his behaviour doesn’t bother me nearly as much as Bella’s, with her “whatever you say, master” attitude. Add on top of that the appalling writing (“K rolled her eyes”), and you have yet another pop-cuture phenomenon I don’t understand. Obviously, that’s my taste, and anyone can have a dif opinion; I just wish people thought a little more critically about the stories before blindly accepting them as representative of love – if anything, the books represent a dangerous infatuation.
Totally agree with everything you said, K. But damn if those wolves aren’t smoking hot and ensuring that my butt will be firmly planted in a theater seat come Nov. 20th.
