Nick Jonas leaves the nest for solo tour

Mama Jonas may already have blown this one wide open back in October (gawd. MOM! so embarrassing), but 16-year-old Nick Jonas made the announcement official on his Twitter last night.

While the JoBros take an official four-week hiatus, our young Nicholas will embark on a series of live shows with his new band The Administration, beginning January 2 in Dallas, Texas and wrapping up in Berkeley, California on Jan. 30. Listen to a short sample below:

The band will get its national debut at the Grammy Nominations concert airing tomorrow night on CBS, but don’t look for more peach-fuzzed “I just got my learner’s permit” dreamboats to be standing behind la Jonas; his Administration bandmates include longtime session men like drummer Michael Bland keyboardist Tommy Barbarella, both onetime members of Prince’s New Power Generation.

As for older brothers Joe and Kevin? According to Twitter, they’re nothing but happy for him: “So excited about all the upcoming things for Nick and his new side project!” What do you think, Music Mixers—will the trio’s youngest member be lovebugged by his sweet taste of solo freedom? Or will he return to the bosom of brotherly love as soon as those 30 days are up?

From what little I understand of the JoBros, Nick is the one with all the songwriting talent anyway. Go kid go.

    • carole

Go,go,go – JoBros – wait, so nicky boy is going on his own. Can we change that to NO-JO. Really no more Jonas Bros. or perhaps – OH NO JO. The other 2 Jonas’ – NO-MO-BROS

I wish I could understand what you were trying to joke about…simply so I could aloofly let a hint of a smile cross my lips. Just couldn’t follow though..

      • carole

short version – go away whoever the h@ll you are – you are not important

  • Eric

Nick got a contract when he was around 10 or 11, he’s the one who really got singing talent.
Kevin actually got good comedy skills, he acts like a young Will Ferrell or Steve Martin. He should focus on those skills.
Regarding Joe…if he wants to still in the game, he better drop that purity ring and work that hotness God gave him around Tinseltown. He gotta do what he gotta do.

Joe is actually the best actor of the 3. I think his focus should be there. Maybe do some Broadway to keep in touch with the music thing. Kevin has chops too & I agree. Comedy will definitely be his thing.

Nick and singing talent in the same sentence is hilarious! He sounds like he has a stomach bug and is doubled over in pain!

He was fantastic on the grammys nominations. I am so happy for him. His song, Who I Am is wonderful. God Bless.

Where’s the fans now ? Nick Jonas might be inside the Itunes top 10 now, but he and his brothers are DONE! It’s over, hope you enjoyed your 15 minutes, now the little girls are all over Justin Bieber, later some other boy will appear and everything will happen again. They should’ve known it would ended up that way, it’s a cycle. Each decade teen boy bands come… and goes into the obscurity, he is very smart switching his brothers for another band to avoid that but it doesn’t matter if you don’t have talent or shock people doing crazy things, you won’t fade away. The song is pretty bad a lazy and bad attempt to show a “new sound”, that sound as old and generic as everything out there, bad attempt also at showing that he’s growing up, he is a bad singer/songwriter and when he screams it looks like he’s killing a cow, or dying of hernia or something like that, is just awful.

I think he single is very catchy. I am not really a fan of the jonas brothers, but I really like this song. It sticks in your head.

  • christa

He has lots of songwriting talent. I think for a 17 year old, he really is amazing.

  • iluvnickj

nick jonas is amazing and has great talent. i remember reading comments about his perfromance at the grammys and most of them were about how they don’t really like the jonas brothers..but nick has so much talent and he will go far. for all you haters out there- i kind of feel sorry for you because you are either 1. deaf, or 2. just some 40year old man that has nothing better to do than comment on the latest jonas brothers news just so you can insult them. pretty pathetic if you ask me….

  • miranda

i bet mama always told him he was the special one.
