So, you thought you might be able to hold Lil Wayne’s Rebirth in your hands before New Year’s? Psych! A Universal Motown rep tells the Music Mix that Weezy’s long-delayed rock-influenced follow-up to 2008′s Tha Carter III has been pushed back yet again from its planned Dec. 21 release to an unspecified date in 2010.
I’ve lost count of how many times Rebirth has been postponed this year; for some insight into what might be going on here, check out the story we ran back in July. An assortment of follow-up singles and leaked tracks have failed to make much noise in the months since then, so it’s safe to assume that Lil Wayne’s label is still waiting for a hit before they unleash Rebirth. As we head into a new calendar year, though, it seems fair to wonder at what point they’ll simply throw up their hands and move on to the next Lil Wayne project instead of trying to make this one work.

and wats that? lol
good question lol.
oh that cover is painful.
Anything involving this guy singing or vomiting over a track with auto-tune I could care less about…push this crap back to 2013 for all I care
Make that 3013.
Too busy knocking up multiple women at a time, to work on an album
Lil wayne get serious!wat r u doing?u used to be my mentor when u were rapping with passion, now your just a clown!
haha i will be your mentor dont worry bout him
Lets just call it a lose on this one Wayne and just let it die and start with something fresh.
I heard his new song on the radio yesterday. It sounds like ’80s- era Prince, clashed with new wave sounds of that same decade. But it’s that good from Lil’Wayne. He clashes rock and heavy metal sounds with some hip-hop beats under it. Maybe he’s trying to put out a very good album, come up with solid songs and decided to delay it until he gets it right.
They’re doing it on purpose so they can have another big opening week for the album. That’s what they did with his last one….
I agree! Everyone in the music biz knows that traditionally from January til almost the week of Valentine’s Day, NO ONE releases new discs, and sales drop to record lows once kids use their gift cards they get for the holidays, and with no new product since evryone rushes to release discs to get holidays sales, its the music industry doing it to themselves. With only 2 big releases coming On Feb. 2nd from Nick Jonas (if you wanna call that big…but the kid’ll buy it, esp. since again NOTHING lese new will be out) and then Sade’s “Soldier of Love” dropping one week later, if either of Weezy’s new singles “on Fire” or Da Da Da” actually do take off (I think they BOTH sound like 80′s era Prince too)thr album has been done & Cash Money could drop it the last week of January (week of the Grammys) or the week AFTER Sade and they’d sell a boatload. I do think they actually bumped it because for the first time, Birdman has actual urban Radio hits with “Money to Blow” and “4 My Town”, which ya know, is basically cause Wayne is on ‘em. But its actually a smart move for the label, since they are also trying to get Jay Sean to have a second pop hit with “Do You Remember”. Wayne is going to sell NO MATTER what, whenever they drop “Rebirth”. It may not be 1.1 million first week, but I don’t think Cash Money is looking for those numbers anyways.
I think that when the Nov and December released albums cool down, then they want to have a solid first week of sales for Lil’ Wayne in February. They want that strong showing in 2010 like they did with Tha Carter III in 2008.
He is wayyyyyyyyyyyyy overexposed! He’s on everyone’s record..I like him, but he needs to go away for a bit..
I think he’s been on too many songs this year with artists, even on a song with Madonna, but the public still likes anything by him. I don’t want to say overexposed.
I think,he should come with a rebrand
I say that Rapper Lil wayne should start Touring in the fall of 2010.Hes a very good father to his 3 Kids.Hes fun to watch.
u can’t call it a lose… he’s already got two hit tracks on it… obviously he’s doing something right if he’s on the billboard 100 365 days of the year…. you can’t say he’s not good. sure you don’t like him.. but he’s clever lyrics and unique voice put him on top.
he sucks ass and he sucks at playing guitar
Then how come Best Buy and Target have his album printed in the Sunday circulars? Somebody didn’t tell them that they pushed his album back. The Young Money album came out on the 21st, but Lil’ Wayne’s didn’t.
