New LCD Soundsystem, 'Drunk Girls' and 'Pow Pow'

Image Credit: Ruvan Wijesooriya“Just cuz I’m shallow doesn’t mean that I’m heartless/ just cuz I’m heartless doesn’t mean that I’m mean.” And Just cuz we’ve waited three years for the full-length return of indie-disco titans LCD Soundsystem doesn’t mean they’re losing their edge. “Drunk Girls,” a new track from their upcoming, still-untitled follow-up to 2007′s Sound of Silver is now streaming at Pitchfork.

Frontman James Murphy tells Pfork that the song is about “about drunk people and fun things and the fact that all of the boys of the L.A. mansion we recorded at were called ‘the girls’ by our chef. We were the ladies of the mansion.” (Private chefs? L.A. mansions? Life sounds nice for Lady Murphy).

Stereogum is also hosting a track from the record, the punchy, onomatopoeiac “Pow Pow.” But if you can’t wait until May 18 for the full-release, Murphy’s more intimate, less strobe-lit soundtrack for the Ben Stiller life-crisis dramedy Greenberg makes for an excellent stop-gap.
