B.o.B's 'Adventures' tops the 'Billboard' 200 albums chart

bobRiding the success of his smash “Nothin’ On You,” B.o.B’s  The Adventures of Bobby Ray debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart this week. Selling 84,000 copies, it’s a low topper. But I’m sure B.o.B will happily take the crown anyway. The Atlanta native is the first solo male act to have a debut hit No. 1 since Rick Ross’ Port of Miami did so in August of 2006.

Lady Antebellum‘s Need You Now spends its 14th straight week in the top five and second in a row at No. 2, selling 76,000 copies. U.K. rock band Bullet for My Valentine‘s Fever sold 71,000 and debuted at No. 3. Justin Bieber‘s “My World 2.0″ falls one spot to No. 4 with 69,000. AC/DC’s soundtrack to Iron Man 2, which features their greatest hits, dropped one slot to No. 5 with 52,000. And Usher’s inner battle, Raymond v. Raymond, dropped from No. 5 to No. 6 with 48,000. Melissa Etheridge’s Fearless Love debuts at No. 7 with 46,000. Actress and singer Miranda Cosgrove’s debut album Sparks Fly only flew to No. 8 with 36,000. Now 33‘s compilation set comes in at No. 9 with 30,000. Glee‘s The Power of Madonna TV soundtrack fell to No. 10 with 29,000 units sold.

Are you glad B.o.B hit No. 1? Did you think Melissa Etheridge would debut higher? Talk to us in the comments after the jump.

JB your the best, ignore that B.o.B. is number one this week. Soon people will realize autotuned garbage can’t compare to your talents. Lady whats her face stinks as well. And Bullet for my Valentine? Come on.. that’s just weird stuff for crazy people. JB we gotta get you back to number one!

Crispy, your prolly 15 I’m guessing. So let me inform you on B.o.B., He is a singer/songwriter/rapper/producer, 2 and 1/2 of those things your JB? does not do. And as to your “autotune garbage” comment, your just off-base, Bobby Ray does not use autotune. In fact, go youtube B.o.B. autotune, and you can see him making fun of people who use it. Next time don’t group all individuals from a certain genre of music or race into the same catagory, unless you like seeming ignorant.

    • ugh

B.o.B doesnt autotune. he sings, plays several instruments and produces quite a bit of the album himself. He’s an actual rapper. not autotuned garbage….and beiber…cmon

The developers STOLE Athe idea from Happy dance Collection Wii. They stole the enrtie design! Its a Japanese game so they thought nobody would notice!

Crispy, you don’t know what you’re talking about. If you even listen to any of B.o.B.’s music for ten seconds, you would know that he doesn’t use autotune. I have been following his mixtapes for a while, and bought his album last Tuesday. He is a versatile artist, and very refreshing for the Hip Hop scene. He produces much of his own work and writes it, as well. His music spans over Hip Hop, Rock, and Pop. Perfect combination for commercial mainstream, but he has a very artistic style. I think he will be very successful! And if it doesn’t turn out that way, he certainly deserves it.

I don’t know any other song by Lady Antebellum than “Need You Now,” but that’s a nice track. Haven’t heard of Bullet for My Valentine. Justin Bieber…really? I have only heard “Baby” and “One Less Lonely Girl.” Based on those two alone, I would say that B.o.B. is miles ahead of Bieber in terms of talent. Bieber is ok, but don’t knock Bobby Ray until you’ve heard his work.

    So happy for Melissa Etheridge!!

    • Noipic

Happy for Melissa? Why? Surely 46,000 has to be lowest opening week ever for her. It’s hard for all but a few artists to be happy with their sales these days. The number 1 album in the country sold only 84K? This industry is in even worse shape than I thought.

She could sing the freakin phone book and make it sound great!!This is the best voiersn I’ve ever heard, yeah, better than John Lennon even.So much emotion and feeling in her delivery. Lovin’ that woman and she rocks!SpeakTruer

First of all, to call Melissa Etheridge a “country rock icon” is ridiculous.

I thought Fearless Love would debut higher as it is seen as Melissa’s return to more a more classic rock sound from her last more accoustic, bluesy album. She was on a lot of TV shows this week promoting the release, but I suspect the media coverage of her divorce has over shadowed the album release and maybe hurt her image with some fans. I guess it’s also just the state of the music industry today as well – sales keep declining every year. It’s a fantastic album, however…
