Eminem lists his Top 10 tips for kids on 'Letterman': Preview it here

Filed under: Music, TV and tagged: ,

The latest stop on Eminem’s Recovery promo calendar is CBS’ Late Show With David Letterman, where his performance with Jay-Z (taped this Monday) will air tonight. Em will also deliver a very special Top 10 list for Dave. CBS has released a sneak preview, which you can watch after the jump.

Shady’s list is themed around “Eminem Pieces of Advice for the Kids.” Such as: “Go see Toy Story 3 — the toys are back in town.” Uh, okay! And: “Always purchase music through authorized retailers that pay royalties to the artists.” LOL?

I won’t hold Eminem responsible for these alleged jokes. He has proven himself a wickedly funny dude at various points in the past, and I assume these lines were written for him by Letterman’s usual staff. And hey, maybe they’re just saving the best gags for tonight’s broadcast? Check out the preview clip after the jump and let us know what you think.

    Em’s face looks so…painful.

    • Amy

      I agree!!

  • Jon

You can tell that he’s not…..comfortable – which, in reality, is probably influenced by what has to be in his head — “Will people believe this? How long will his “rehab” take FOR THE PUBLIC”. Personally, the pained look on his face shows me that he has changed, he knows he’s in unfamiliar territory. Good for him. I’ll watch…..now.

I think he is just trying to play it “straight” and be serious not say crazy or shocking things. He’s joked about the new calm Em, I think this just plays into that. No doubts about him being genuinely funny.

The jokes suck by themselves but thanks to his delivery they’re almost funny.

AGREED! But since most of Em’s fans could really care less what they have him saying on scripted network tv…let’s get to more important business…DID ANYONE SCORE TIX TO HIM & JAY’S CONCERTS THIS MORNING? I got my tix for Tues. the 14th at Yankee Stadium!! WooHoo!! Kinda excited since as a music fan, I’ve never seen him or Jay LIVE! I’m SO hoping Em brings 50 out for a few songs!

that would be sick but most likely not happening

Not every Top Ten List is a winner (no comedy ever is). However in most cases (not all) when it’s not Dave doing the list – they tend not to work as well.

I think he’s just playing it SUPER straight- i thought it was pretty funny (but then, i really like awkward humor)

You guys really are drinking the haterade today.

  • Kell

The jokes are pretty bad, but it’s amusing because of uncomfortable delivery. He’s trying to make them funny, but because he knows the lines aren’t funny, he comes off as really uncomfortable, which makes them them even funnier.

    lol, i love eminem!

  • Lady Gaga 4Ever

He’s not even musically relevant any more. No one cares.

    • donknottz

Your trailer park Gaga will be a mere memory as she is in her 13th minute of what will no doubt be a 15 minute career as Em has sold 80 Million records in the last decade more than anyone else, Period. He’s on pace to sell 700000 his first week so I think you should rethink your absoulte ignorance. Gaga would trade her worthless half covered ace for five percent of Em’s career longevity. 11 years and counting.. Keep hating its cool.

    • DGD

Not musically relevant? He had the top-selling rap album of 2009 and was the best-selling artists of the past decade. He has influenced an entire generation of artists, not only in the hip-hop genre. B.O.B, Lil Wayne, Kanye West, Drake, all of them have been influenced by Slim Shady.

      • DGD

Oops. I said artists instead of artist. My bad.

    • TTN

Did you read that on some obscure blog and just repeat it? Em changed the game – bringing something completely original to the table – brought rap lyrics to a different level, while going strong for over a decade. Now I suggest that you stop trying to have opinions on any subject, b/c they are baseless.

I loved the title: Eminem [Pieces] of Advice… Come on, that alone was hilarious. I’ll admit Eminem was out of his comfort zone but nonetheless it was definitely a change of scenery for anyone, like myself, who watches Letterman every night. Loved it!
