Image Credit: Foc Kan/WireImage.comKanye West debuted his video for “Power” tonight, a short, somewhat confusing burst of imagery that leaves most everything to the imagination. West, draped in heavy gold blingery, stands center frame with the whites of his eyes glowing fiercely against a backdrop evoking the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, if it was painted in the pyramids. Men and women move in slow motion tableau, some bearing obvious Egyptian symbolism (horns evoking the goddess Hathor), some clashing with swords, some just sort of writhing like lost extras from Caligula. You can watch the very short but very crowded clip after the jump. I’m sure it’s only a matter of time before West tweets a picture of a fancy sink by way of explanation, but while we’re waiting, what does it all mean, Mixers??

I thought the video,…err. 90 sec painting was completely original and amazing. I hope they leave it as in and don’t later on release a full version of the song.

With all that say, it leaves me a little confused about the story? If you look at comments online you will get a billion different point of views. maybe that was his goal.

I think KiD CuDi and Mr. West will give Mathers a run for his money at the Grammys. The three singles (Erase Me feat. Kanye, REVOFEV, and Mojo So Dope) from CuDi’s new album are amazing. And Kanye’s comeback of sorts will help him if the album is as good as Power.

God, the term “hater” is so overplayed… has it occurred to you that someone may genuinely dislike this song/his music/himself without it being personal?
K, I listened to hip hop years ago, and stopped listening when the crappy, unimaginative dribble that rappers like Kanye and his peers throw out began being considered poetic and “art”. And I’ve yet to hear a single Kanye song that’s has ever had me thinking he was a genius.
