The amazing and iconic Cher is making a return to the big-screen this November in the sequin fever dream Burlesque, opposite fellow pop star Christina Aguilera. But the diva is also beginning to plot out her next album, which has her working with hitmaker Diane Warren (Aerosmith’s “I Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing”; Celine Dion’s “Because You Loved Me”). Warren also wrote one of Cher’s two big Burlesque tunes, the big power ballad “You Haven’t Seen the Last of Me.”
The 64-year-old diva says that fans shouldn’t expect the same dance music heard on her 1998 album, Believe, which featured the titular blockbuster single. “It really won’t be Believe-ish,” she says. “It will be more…I don’t know how to say it. I can’t put a genre to it. It’s a little bit more real instruments, like guitars and stuff like that.” Don’t get too excited Cher fans: the singer admits she’s still very early in the recording process.
Says Cher, “I just got some of the songs and I’m just learning [them] so I’m kind of at that beginning stage where you’re taking baby steps.” Watch the full trailer for Burlesque below:

I just can’t wait for a new Cher album. Her last album, “Living Proof,” was released in 2002. So it’s been a long time coming for fans. But to know she’s working with Diane Warren–the writer of 1989′s “If I Could Turn Back Time” and 1991′s “Save Up All Your Tears,” is A-W-E-S-O-M-E!
HALLELUJAH! My all time favorite singer is back! Now if we can just get her as a judge on American Idol, everything will be right with show-biz.
Sadly, My boyfriend and me broke up a month ago. yeah.. i’m young ,beautiful, lonely and still hurting.i may be in need of someone to love..still..My friends told me about
A g e l e s s c u p i d .C’ o m. and i got curious about it.. they met their boyfriends there.,It’s the best place to meet a older boyfriend or a younger girlfriend. i cant risk myself..So i got a username(flyerdu2000) there in order to find a new boyfriend.is it wrong?
Cher is too much of a superstar to be an AI judge. It would be a step back for her. Yes, it would be a huge steady paycheck, but Cher doesn’t seem to need more cash.
yes!!!! i’ve been saying that since paula left!
A new Cher album! Yay! Can’t wait! It’s probably a good thing if she gets away from the “Believe”/”Living Proof” disco genre. Maybe she can combine it with her late ’80s metal-babe phase. That would be interesting.
Nice to see a real artist try different sounds and songs instead of singing the same tune over and over again (right Ms Swift?)
Zing!
Looking forward to it but what happened to her Christmas album?
I’d like to hear her try an album of standards. Her all-too-brief performance of “Smoke Gets in Your Eyes” in the film Tea with Mussolini really whetted my appetite for more.
Hi Cameobrooch! Checkout “Bittersweet: The Love Songs Collection.” That is Cher’s “standards” album from the 70′s, (with 9 added bonus tracks). Still brilliant even today!
you can also check out “Blue” which is essentially the same album as Bittersweet
I agree – her “Smoke Gets in Your Eyes” was a great tease! I loved it.
I agree – her “Smoke Gets in Your Eyes” was a great tease! I loved it.
Agree also. Evertime I watch Tea I keep wanting to hear and see more of Smoke Gets In Your Eye
Check out Cher’s duet with Rod Stewart on “Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered” — you can really hear how beautifully seasoned her voice is — it’s ideally suited to sing standards!
If the name is CHER it is AWSOME. There is nothing Cher cannot do, nothing Cher has not done and CHER will keep going. She just knows we love er
I’m just excited she’s doing a new CD. I know I’ll love it because I have loved EVERYTHING she has done in the past. Go Cher!!! You rock!!!
God yes …its been way too long.I hope she rocks again…the songs can always be remixed for the clubs..Hurry Diva
OMG!!! I love Cher!!! I’m very glad ))
i think Cher should work with Lady Gaga…that would be great
That would be amazing for Lady Gaga to work together!!
My 2 favorite Pop Divas!
Cher’s folksy eclectic voice with Gaga’s raw powerhouse vocals OMG It makes me die just thinking about the song
i dont think Cher would work with this ” new upcoming fresh girls” as she said that many times during her farewell tour, come on its Cher not Britney …
looks like SHOWGIRLS 2!
64…u better get going Cher or you’ll be singing 6ft under!
I read somewhere she’s working on pop/rock sounding songs in the style of hits “I Found Someone” and “If I Could Turn Back Time.” I appreciate the move toward live music and a soft rock edge, but this is the age of GaGa. Everyone from Usher to Miley Cyrus is suddenly getting on the dance music band wagon. She’s about a year too late on this record. Could be great music. Not sure it could be a big hit though.
Except that Gaga was ten years too late then, since Cher’s own BELIEVE in 1999 took the whole dance craze beck into the mainstream.
Cher started the “dance music bandwagon”. I believe she was the first major singer to release an entire album of dance songs (Believe)as opposed to releasing a remix here and there. She has already been there done that. Everyone else now days is just trying to catch up!
OMG I love you Cher!! I will be waiting for this album with anticipation!!
Pop Divas Forever!!!
I’ve wondered how long it was going to take before we got some new Cher tunes. I love her. I love her music. I can’t wait for the movie and I can’t wait for the album. YAY!!
Hey Buddy…remember when Cher released Believe with the vocal manipulations later known as the “Cher effect”..now everyone uses it…I think Cher going toward a more organic sound is smart..she can sing the songs live and really her audience is more Adult Top 40 then lady gagag and mileys audience..plus I’m sure they will remix the songs for the clubs so we will have two versions of some of these songs which will be great!!
