Grammy nomination prime-time special to air on CBS this December despite poor ratings

For the precursor to next February’s 53rd Annual Grammy Awards, CBS announced that it will air The GRAMMY Nominations Concert Live!! — Countdown To Music’s Biggest Night on Wednesday, Dec. 1 at 10p.m. ET/PT. Like last year’s special, it will feature performances from the announced nominees and past winners. This is the third year in a row they’ll be doing the Grammy nomination prime-time special. Past runs haven’t fared so well in the ratings, despite featuring top-tier talents like the Black Eyed Peas and Maxwell, who both performed last year for the special (clip embedded below). It’s certainly more fun than the early-morning Oscars-type nomination announcement, but what do you think the Grammy committee can do to draw in more viewers? Will you be watch this winter? Let us know.

*Sigh* There was a time when this would be an exciting announcement…now? Not so much.

As a huge, huge music fan, it still gets me how the Black Eyed Peas were nominated for Album of the Year…ALBUM OF THE YEAR!!! I mean, don’t get me wrong, they’re good at what they’re for which is a fun hip-hop band but Lord knows they didn’t even deserve a nomination for that. Actually, all five were pretty weak nominees this year.

And I don’t mean to just single them out…last year seemed to be pretty much Top 40 radio year at the Grammys. Hopefully, though not likely, there will be some variation this year.

This is a crap album. She a 2 good songs. She makes me sick. She cant sing and her voice is annoying. I will NEVER watch the Grammys if she is nominated for album of the year.

Doesn’t this telecast actually do okay among 18-49 year-olds (for CBS)? That’s why they keep it around.

Neither Johnny Reb nor David Alan Coe have ever been nominated. The Grammys are a joke! They just nominate whatever hip-hoppity, “urban” trash that the Mendelbaums are shoving down our throats!

The grammar nerd in me is screaming about that last sentence: “Will you be watch this winter?”

You could definitely see your enthusiasm in the work you write. The sector hopes for even more passionate writers such as you who are not afraid to say how they believe. Always go after your heart.
