Image Credit: Shirlaine Forrest/WireImage.comCharles Haddon, frontman of the British elecro-pop band Ou Est Le Swimming Pool, apparently killed himself on Friday at Belgium’s Pukkelpop Festival by leaping from a telecommunications mast, according to the Associated Press. The singer was 22. District attorney Marc Rubens said the police are treating Haddon’s death as a suicide.
A message has been posted on the Pukkelpop official blog which confirms that, “After performing with his band ‘Ou est le swimming pool’, singer Charles Haddon decided to take his own life. Our thoughts go out to his family and friends.”
According to the NME, earlier today La Roux singer Elly Jackson dedicated the band’s set at Britain’s V Festival to Haddon. Ou Est Le Swimming Pool played shows with La Roux last year.
Haddon’s death is the second apparent suicide at a rock show this week. During the Swell Season’s concert in Saratoga on Thursday, a man died when he jumped from a roof and fell approximately three stories to the stage.

WTH is going on with all this concert jumping? A guy who was at a Phish concert is in critical condition after diving head first off a balcony, landing on the stage during the concert at Jones Beach theater on Aug. 19th. Craziness.
Oh wait no, this one fell into the crowd. “A 25-year-old fan jumped 25 feet headfirst from the venue’s upper balcony into a lower section of the venue. His impact shattered several chairs in the lower section and left the fan in critical condition.” Luckily he didn’t land on anyone.
suicide is the #1 way to tell everyone in your life exactly how little you care about him. I live for the day when we no longer give these cowards the attention they craved. “Waa, no one notices me-my life is so hard, waaa all of my friends hate me, waaaa I’m just in such a bad place waaaaaaaa”. We, the world, are better off without people like him. Don’t know why anyone cared that he died, when he clearly didn’t care about you….or even himself.

you need to realize something: YES, suicide is INCREDIBLY selfish. now that i’m in a proper frame of mind, i know that.

if you’re sick enough to kill yourself, something isn’t right. obviously. you are assuming that someone who does this is able to rationalize what they’re doing, and quite clearly they aren’t!
there’s this thing, it’s called compassion, you should totally try it sometime. instead of judging, try to get at the root of the problem & solve it rather than make already unstable people feel even worse.
Though I’ve never heard of the band, I’m very sorry to hear the news. British bands are just the best, imo. And Suicide is just so tragic, and leaves a particular kind of anquish for the loved ones left behind, a bitter one that never goes away entirely. My deepest condolences.

why do you say “apparently”? It makes it seem like you are making a joke about his death or something. I don’t know, but the way it is written doesn’t seem right.
Because so far, although the authorities are treating it like a suicide, there’s no official ruling yet.

“Apparently”,because an autopsy must be performed and if he was under the influence of any number of substances and/or combination of them that could posibly cause hallucinations he may not have intended to kill himself. In that case it would be classified as an accidental death. Why does any of this matter? Because if there are any insurance policies involved there may be aspects that are affected.
I hope all the rappers out there follow suite and make it a trend.

A spell-check wouldn’t catch that, since “suite” is a valid word (though it’s the wrong word, of course). People think that they don’t need to know how to spell anymore because of spell checkers, but this is a common example of why they’re wrong. My current most-hated example is “quite” instead of “quiet,” because I’m seeing it so frequently these days.
