Sara Bareilles will release her sophomore major label album, Kaleidoscope Heart, on September 7th, but here at the Music Mix, we’ve got your exclusive preview stream now. (We know you can’t be made to wait.) The song is called “Uncharted,” and its lyrics gave Bareilles the title of her album. They also broke her out of some nasty writer’s block: “I actually found that I wanted nothing to do with music for a little while,” is how Bareilles puts it in her current bio. “I preferred drinking copious amounts of coffee, going to yoga, and looking for cute throw pillows at Target. I love throw pillows.”
Those who loved 2007′s breakout “Love Song” should get a kick out of this spiky, spunky piano folk. Give a listen, Mixers, and let us know in the comments: What do you think?

lol so embarrassing for you guys when you originally posted this article with her name spelled wrong
her name isn’t spelt wrong. it’s Sara Bareilles.
Spelt is a grain. Spelled is the word you were looking for.
GrammarNerd needs to take some spelling lessons. Both ‘spelt’ and ‘spelled’ are acceptable forms of the past tense (and past participle) of spell, even in America, where some people are unfamiliar with English.
Good, more of the same. Which is good.
love it! so nice to hear new music from saraB. beautiful!!
I used to see Sara Bareilles in concert back when she still attended UCLA and played at the local bar in Westwood. She’s still as amazing as the first time I saw her (“Gravity” still haunts, no matter how many times I listen to it on record or live). In my opinion, her music always speaks from the heart. Loving Kaleidescope Heart so far!
i like it, its very catchy cant wait to buy the album
Saw her perform this live a month ago in Chicago… gorgeous voice and amazing music! cant wait for the new album!
I cannot wait until the album is released now!!
LOVE IT! She conveys her emotion through music so well, and even though it’s not going to be the same vibe that her first album had, I know that she will keep it real. And that’s what’s important. GO SARA!!
Technically, her last album wasn’t her first…her first album was Careful Confessions but it wasn’t hugely successful. A lot of the songs on that album are fantastic though! She’s continually flawless, as this album seems to show so far =)
Agreed! I love Careful Confessions! Some of her best work. Is it September 7th yet?
i LOVE that sara is using more strings and horns in her music. it was always suited towards that. reminds me of how john mayer incorporated a lot of brass in his heavier things album after room for squares.
so excited for this album i can hardly contain myself. september 7th can’t get here fast enough!
Brilliant! Love Love, LOVE IT!
Does Nathan Drake sing backing vocals on this?
“King of Anything” NEEDS to be a hit this Fall, but I’d pencil this in to be a hit next Spring !! Sara is a very down to earth girl & deserves all the success in the world!
Amazing as always. It’s so refreshing to have an artist who is truly talented and creative and not just following some format to create a pop product. Definitely going to be a Sara B fan for the long haul.
I like it!! When will you return here in Italy, or better in Sardinia??
She has such a beautiful and crisp yet raw voice. I love how her songs represent snippets of life.
