Image Credit: Bennett Raglin/WireImage.comThe comeback campaign that Lauryn Hill began this summer with a rare interview and a tour announcement continues to gain steam. Shortly after her second stop on the Rock the Bells tour, Hill told MTV News‘ Shaheem Reid that she’s “getting closer” to releasing her first studio album in over a decade.
Hill wouldn’t say much more than that, but even that brief quote will surely send a lot of people into a frenzy. It’s been way too long since we heard new music from Ms. Hill. She had her reasons for effectively retiring, and she’s started explaining those reasons more fully in her recent interviews. But it seems like she’s finally reaching a point where she’s ready to sing for the world again. And that’s wonderful news.
One thing Hill did tell MTV was that her new album, whenever it arrives, is unlikely to feature many guest appearances. “There’s a lot of different creative energies out there right now,” she said. “I respect the different sounds that I’m hearing. It’s been such a long time since I’ve gotten my voice and my ideas [out]. In terms of collaborations, that’s not even something I’ve been thinking about per se.”

Girrrrllllll, Lauryn, we miss you! Can’t wait to hear that new album. I can understand that you wanted to be with your 5 children and take care of them, but it’s time to take back your hip-hop throne. Your music is still played on the radio more than a decade later, as many as 4 songs or more from your 1998 Grammy winning album. Smart that’s she’s avoiding the collaboration, featured artist trend so common on mainstream albums. She would rather hear herself and her own creation on the album. I think it will be social and meaningful with the song themes.

Im SUPER excited,That there is even talk of a new Lauryn Hill album! I will make sure to get my copy,and support the album if and when it comes! I notice a lot of the older 90s artists are making comebacks! Faith Evans is releasing a new cd October 5th (CANT WAIT!) and Monica`s new cd just got certified gold…Im excited… Lets just hope if there is a new Lauryn Hill album,The promotion is on top! Because a lot of artist`s dont seem to make hit sales,because the promotion for their albums lack…
