Shana- You are exactly right. Music now is more about a good beat and stupid lyrics than someone who can sing. Labels now seem to push for and only want people who can write music. What about someone who can actually sing the song that is written. Not eveyone has to be a writer and singer. Give an awesome singer an awesome song and you will have a hit. I am so feed up with some of the crap on the radio now. I want to hear people like Allison or David A. who can actually sing! I thought she should have gotten farther on the show than she did. Some people can sing better than they can write, and some write better than they can sing. We all have our strong and weak points. There have been many people who have had great success because they are an amazing singer who was given a great lyrically written song. They need to stop pushing for both and think about what still and always has made money. Find a outstanding singer and find a writer and put them together and you can rake in the dough.

    • Siggie

Nope, they have people who can write music, like Cook, and cast aside his songwriting for their own stable of “hitmakers”.

    • TJ

Artists who are weak in songwriting tend to be at the mercy of their labels more than those who can, and with the music industry being the way it is you need to have as many skills as possible to fall back on. Having said that, yeah, I do get tired of the auto-tuned crowd, but people have been complaining about the state of radio for years and they just continue to get worse.

  • irina

i know music and art in general is about taste but whoever says allie is not talented definitely has poor taste in music.

i am very saddened by this news because it shows how people are only interested in the superficial music today. yes, of course not all people but most of them. and it’s sad for me because i live in this world too.

  • Lauren

As a huge Allison fan this is sad news :( I am not sure if JIVE was ever really the right fit for her. They never seemed to know how to market her. As Mj said she was not meant for the teens. Now that 19 is working with Universal maybe the will try to help Allison get a deal with them. All I know is that I am a lifelong fan and will support Allison no matter what.

  • Sybil

Allison is very talented. It’s unrealistic to expect someone her age to be able to mount a non-Disney Channe/Bieber successful solo career. She doesn’t have the stage presence or maturity to go with her still developing talent. Hopefully she’ll re-emerge in a few years and be successful, ‘cuz the girl can sang. P.S. This should be a cautionary tale for the AI producers who seem to think that the solution to AI’s problems is to lower the age limit. We don’t need more talented but unpolished kids to be rushed out with unsuitable material and then dumped on the scrap heap of history.

    • Siggie

The AI producers don’t care about the kids’ future beyond what they can make off them. That’s why the age goes younger and younger. Exploitation.

      • Aprile

        Exactly.

  • erik

Never liked Allison. Over-wrought, shouty, mumbly, weird in interviews, lacked performance skills, weak songs. Girls gotta get some major coaching. Her voice is ok, but lacks charisma and star quality

    • WTF?

And she’s as plain as a loaf of white bread to look at, no matter what color she dyes her hair. Homely, homely.

      • FlyingColors

oh how badly your parents failed you :(

  • Keisa

So sad to hear about Allison. She’s so talented and yet Jive couldn’t or wouldn’t do it’s job. Just goes to show you that it’s not all about the music or talent but about promotion and management. I mean look at acts like Bieber, Derulo, Kesha — they have about an ounce of talent but they actually have competent people promoting them and working for them. One of my favorite artists is David Archuleta, who is also a Jive artist. Amazing voice and talent. His first album did well but could have done so much better had Jive promoted the way it should have. His next album drops 10/5 and I have to say that the lack of promotion from Jive is really sad. Maybe he should go elsewhere as well and find a record company that actually knows how to handle talent and supports their artists. What’s the point of signing an artist if you’re not going to support them competently?

  • Stacey

Actually I LOVE Alison’s CD, “Just Like You”. All the songs; which is rare for me. I wish it had done better. But I agree with those who say there was very little promotion to the CD. But it just goes with the addage that applies to American Idol. You need to come to win or come second to really get any publicity for your album. Sure Alison has been every where trying to sell the material. And now doing Adam’s tour. But I didn’t sense that Jive cared as much and didn’t do much to publicize it. It was always going to be tough for Alison because she was so young at the time. And inexperienced. She saw herself as a rocker; but the album wasn’t that rock. She would have ruled this past season that was won by Lee. She was a season too soon. But still, I love the CD. And listen to it constantly. And the songs were very listenable. And catchy. So it’s not shocking; given her sales that they were dropping her. I hope she finds a new company that will actually help her…

  • nick

She had more promotion that most
new artists would die for. Face it people she just wasn’t that good. And frankly, her voice was average at best _ it always cracked. Simon cowell knew this way back when. I wonder how much money she lost for Jive??

    • Mari

That good…compared to what? Bieber? Kesha? Miley Cyrus? Allison is better than a lot of what’s out there in radio, the issues wasn’t about quality. Jive failed her with their marketing. They had no clear strategy for her.

    • Keisa

How much money SHE lost for Jive?? Are you kidding me? They did that to themselves. What business worth anything doesn’t know that you have to first MAKE an investment before you can see a return?! Jive wouldn’t know what to do with talent if it bit them. It’s actually a good thing she’s not with them anymore. Now she can look for a label that actually knows what they are doing.

  • Tati

This makes me sad.. Real talent gets wasted.. yet someone like Bieber.. or Miley.. or Demi.. sell millions.. just.. doesn’t make sense.

  • FlyingColors

Im a big fan of allison, love her voice and her songs. but i agree, she could have used some coaching, just to connect more instead of all spazzy and let loose, cause obviously something wasnt connecting enough, maybe getting the short end of the stick when it came to always being last in jives promo agenda, the glamberts and their shipping and talking crap about alli cause they dont wanna imagine adam with any female causing unneccessary distasteful comments about alli (even tho they looked and performed spectacular together) the shipping was all they were interested in and trolled her alot of really bad reviews of her because of their silly jealousy. I blame alot if things. Really really sad but i know shes gonna be just fine. Shes just so young and has the talent to burn.

    • What?

What are you talking about? The Glamberts LOVE Allison. They petitioned to keep Allison on Adam’s tour. And they are now petitioning to keep her on Jive. (Won’t work.) I have never seen anyone trash talk Allison ever.

      • FlyingColors

Oh thats nice of them. But im talking about some common nasty stuff i remember since slow ride from last years Idol tour. Sorry, maybe things have changed. But like i said, i blame alot of things.

    • What?

Oh, and by the way, no one is jealous of Allison. Adam is gay, did ya year? He is also 10 yrs older than Allison. Jealous? Maaayyyybbeee of the cute gay boys who show up to the concerts who catch Adam’s eye . . . . .

      • andyglam

that a bunch of b.s. you know nothing, most of the fans of adam have tried 2 be very supportive of alli, even the ones that were not into her music,
They helped pushed 4 the continuation of her tour, I was not feelin her album but i bought it, just so i could jam with the kid.
        so you know nothing.

    • jtmc

WOW! You are so off the mark with these comments about the Adam fans not supporting Allison. I have never seen so much love & support given to the opening act on a tour ever!

      • Siggie

There are several bands out there that have been embraced and now loved by the fans of the group they’re opening for.

    • Sandy

You are so wrong about Allison, Adam and the fans. I don’t know where you are getting your information from but quit embarrassing yourself.

    • allyr

Put down the crack pipe. And stop lying, too. Allison and Adam were on different labels. And not a single Adam fan EVER EVER said ANYTHING negative about Allison. And Allison never got any bad “reviews” from any Glamberts because she never got many reviews at all. Every SINGLE ADAM FAN loved and loves Allison. Her skills may be another story but nobody EVERY sabotaged the girl. Shame on you for outright lying. Find ONE of those “sabotaged” sites and show it here.

      • derekJ

Which imo is a problem for Allison. She was in a safe zone, unlike Orianthi who got some undue hate but in the end led to her improving her live vocals and stage prescence while Allison stood still as an artist. When I saw Allison live I was dissappointed because it didn’t match the hype and positive reviews.

      • adamsluvjnes

That’s not true. I am an avid Adam fan, but I cannot take Allison. She just does not do it for me. Her album was too “teenybopper” for me. Allison has no stage charisma, jumps around the stage all “willy nilly” without any real purpose, as if she did not rehearse her dancing. I love Allison but not as an artist for me. And I am one of the ones who did not want her on the Glam Nation tour with Adam…Orianthi either for that matter.

    • Yeah uhhh WHAT?

what are you even saying here? Glamberts LOVE Allison and NEVER hated on her!! and I’ll tell you why: 1) she’s good and OTT rocker like Adam so yeah that’s our style and we dig it 2) She and Adam are good friends and have supported each other so why would we diss her?? 3) Adam loves and supports her and that alone would be enough. You mention jealously, WUT? we are not tween Beiber fans, the beauty of being a fan of a gay artist is we dont have to even worry about any of that nonesense…. so ur just kinda wacked babe

  • Adwina Lambert

outside of Carrie, Daughtry, has beens Kelly and Gay Aiken, no idol finalist has really sold a lot of albums and hit it big on the radio! including moi! tee-hee!

    • duck

kelly’s not as has been… ugh she a #1 album last year. Shoot people hyped up Katy Perry so much and she only sold 193K first week where kelly sold 255K her first week! Kelly kicks ass on radio! She broke a freakin’ billboard record just last year and had 2 #1′s and even a #1 single on the UK chart. Yeah call me when Carrie or Daughtry ever top another country outside US or Canada.

  • lulu

i look forward to so much more from this amazingly talented singer. i’ll follow her career every step of the way. love you, Alli!

  • DONNy

First of all, wrong debut single. Worse song on the album. Second, her immature interviews. Hard to take her seriously. And third, her oversinging live. Just sing the song with a little control.

    • FlyingColors

Ahh the perils of being a teenager :( This is where some coaching would have helped.

Dont attack me ppl, because i absolutely adore alli. I say this out of love.

  • mendijarj

Allison absolutely cannot please everyone.HEAD UP GIRL,BE PROUD OF URSELF.ITS NOT THE END OF THE WORLD 4 U!!

  • Raye

Wish I could say I was surprised by the decision to cut Allison and in the Allison corner, but I am not. It is not personal, nor is it idol related. I feel she was promoted a good deal. I wish her the best, everyone has a right to fulfill their dreams, but I never thought she was that good, and apparently she never really connected with a fanbase.
As far as Kris goes, his talent shines. He is getting what he wants out of his career. The album may not have sold as well as some, but he has a lot of supporters, watching him build a career, standing in his corner as he grows. He was completely new to the star scene and he is moving slow but steady. Lots of folks love going to see him live and I feel certain the good response to this has made up for some of the album sales. He is making money. He does not seem to have much overhead, offers a great performance and does not require much in terms of setups. I don’t think Jive will be dropping him any time soon. Some of these folks on Jive’s label I have never heard even heard of.
Adam is getting what he has always wanted. Once the fame starts, it is hard to tell who is real and who is not, so I hope he does not get too lonely. His voice is wonderful, no denying, and I see a bright future for him, if he sticks to the singing. I have been very vocal about the disliking the touching, licking and kissing of his male/female band members, only because I think that belongs in the bedroom no matter who you are. I do however, love the theatrics in his shows. Makes me feel as if I was in Vegas watching a well done production of something I would normally not get to see. I can see his draw. That said, however, I dislike many of his hard core fans. They are rude.

    • FlyingColors

This isnt a kris post, so your point is that alli got dropped so this more money for Kris? What is your point?

    • FlyingColors

What are you trying to say? that your glad that Allison got dropped so that there is more money for Kris? sounds a bit like a rude fan to me…

    • Candy

Of course the saintly Kris fans are not rude. They only try to prop up Kris by taking shots at Adam. But no matter what, Kris will always be in Adam’s shadow where he belongs. His talent is average at best with little or no excitement about him. When Adam puts on a show with or without the kissing it is for His fans not for Kris fans so get over it. And until you have seen the Jive balance sheets you have no way of knowing that Kris has cost them little money. You just say that to justify his one hit single and his lame album sales. But good try.

    • Debbie

I saw Allison in concert twice. Not my style of performer.

Amazing how Adam is always brought into any AI discussion. Yea, Raye, we get that you don’t care for Adam. Your post is that of a “rude fan”. Look in the mirror before you go pointing fingers. There are millions that love Adam, hence, his sold out tour nationally and internationally. Just stick with Kris, he seems all you are able to handle. Us Adam fans will continue to support Adam in any way we can. Eveything you dislike about Adam, we adore and appreciate. Thank the Universe for Adam Lambert.
