Image Credit: Solarpix/PR Photos; Adam Rose/Fox Elton John recently revealed to EW exclusively that he’ll be working with Glee star Matthew Morrison—aka Will Schuester—on the actor’s forthcoming debut album. “I’m supposed to be doing something with Matthew Morrison for his album,” John told EW, when he called to talk about The Union, John’s album collaboration with legendary pianist-songwriter Leon Russell, which hits stores Oct. 19. “[Matthew and I] had a little meeting together, so hopefully that’s going to happen when I get to L.A.” John says the collaboration with the Glee star will likely happen sometime this month. John also recently fanned rumors that he may contribute to Lady Gaga’s upcoming album, Born This Way. “There’s a chance I might do one track with her,” he told EW, “but she’s so busy, and I’m so busy, we can never get together!”
Considering his upcoming collaboration with Morrison, though, could an all-Elton episode of Glee—or even an appearance on the show—be that far off? It’s not in the works…yet. “I love Glee, but no, no, no,” the legendary singer said. “Of course, I’d be into that. It’s always great when someone covers your songs, no matter how good or bad the version is. You know, I started out as a songwriter, so I always get a kick out of that.”

So cool!
Can’t wait for Matt’s debut album! It’s gonna be epic.
I think that Ryan Murphy should do an episode of Glee and title it “– John” in which it has songs of Elton John. EJ is such a “Diva”!
Song suggestions:
Daniel, Crocodile Rock, Candle in the Wind, Don’t Let The Sun Go Down on Me, Can You Feel the Love Tonight?, just to name a few.
(Pass this on! Thanx!)
Elton is one of my absolute favorite artists and I love Glee so I’ve been waiting for people to talk about this pairing! Here are my two cents based on the cast’s voices!
Chris — “Bennie and the Jets” or “Rocket Man”
Cory — “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me” or “Someone Saved My Life Tonight”
Lea — “Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word”
Amber — “Levon” (though what contribution this would make to an episode, I have no idea!)
Mark — “I’m Still Standing”
And of course, for the inevitable group number, “Tiny Dancer” a la “Almost Famous.”
How could I forget “Your Song”?! Who would get that honor?
Schu!
YES!
Good call!
I love Matthew, good for him. We’re missing a ladies’man singer those days since Timberlake is out for now. That’s Matthew’s big opportunity.
Speaking of a ladies man singer, Michael Grimm will be in the studio recording soon. Can’t wait.
I know Matthew Morrison is one of the stars of Glee, but how exactly is this news a “Glee Exclusive?”
Ever since EW posted that the musical “Jersey Boys” will be made into a film I can’t stop picturing and hearing Matthew Morrisson in it. I think he would be a great addition to the cast and he can get back in touch with his Broadway roots.
matthew morrisson is gonna have an album?…..gulp….i smell michael bolton.

Matthew Morrison is so self involved it’s insane. I can’t believe he’s doing an album. He’s the worst part of Glee. I’d honestly rather watch Dianna Agon attempt at acting.
Sounds like someone is jealous….
Ah yes, the good ol’ “if you don’t like someone, you must be jealous!” Grow up, Jim.
You do realize that Mark salling is doing an album too?
I love his voice, and love it when Mr. Schu sings (especially with Emma). That said, I loved SNL’s parody when Schu was vocalizing and said, “I wanna be in this glee club!” So true.
What a ridiculous comment, Kris. How do you know he’s self-involved? I had the opportunity to meet him shortly after his Tony nomination for The Light in the Piazza, and he was charming and genuinely nice. He posed for pictures and spent a lot of time chatting with me and my then 6th grade daughter. He’s an exceptionally talented performer and I can’t wait for his CD.
Do you have anything to support this statement?
Some people just like to speculate and assume the worst of others.
An Elton episode would be pretty fabulous, actually. I think the theme episodes are shaping up to be standouts, so as long as there are fitting artists to work with, I say, keep them coming. I don’t think they should do a Springsteen show as some have suggested, for instance — his stuff is mostly too gritty and specific to really work on “Glee” — but Elton John would be a great anchor for an episode. Same goes for Michael jackson. And they could do different kinds of themes: An ’80s night, perhaps, or one focusing on the standards. (Seeing what Puck did with “The Lady Is A Tramp,” I’m surprised they haven’t gone there already!)
I think an episode with plot would be more fun to watch… these one artist themed episodes are just televised karaoke. Isn’t that American Idol’s wheelhouse?
No more theme episodes for Glee! The Britney episode was the worst. Stick to the story and throw some songs in when they make sense but please God, no more theme shows. And I’ll never forget what those Idol kids did to Elton’s songs a few years back. I think people forget how difficult it is to sing his songs, especially the early ones. He sang them almost in a falsetto that is hard to duplicate.
The Britney episode was one of the best! So much fun and funny in one episode! Glee is on a roll this year!
Oh, lord. *rolling my eyes*
Smooth move…you had a chance to ask what Sir Elton John is listening to, but you plugged iPod instead and now we don’t know. Less product placement and more reporting please.
Still going for publicity eh Reg?
C’mon, you can do better than that.
