Elton John and Lady Gaga: Exclusive details on their duet

elton-john-lady-gagaImage Credit: Kevin Mazur/WireImage.comIf you were watching Elton John on The View this morning, you might have heard him mention that he’s planning to release a duet with Lady Gaga. It’s something he’s alluded to before, but now EW can report exclusively that the track, called “Hello, Hello,” will appear in the upcoming Disney animated film Gnomeo & Juliet, which is being produced by Sir Elton and his partner, David Furnish.

The charming pop track plays during the moment where the two lead characters, lawn ornaments named Gnomeo (voiced by James McAvoy) and Juliet (Emily Blunt), meet for the first time. The film hits theaters on Feb. 11, 2011.

Looking forward to hearing Elton John and Lady Gaga sing together? Let us know in the comments.

I’ve lost all respect for Sir Elton. I can understand singing with the immensely talented Leon Russell but “Lady” Caca? Please Elton; you can find a better female singer than her. How about Bette Midler?

    • Kim

Sir Elton John obviously know what his doing. And since he’s a music veteran he know’s who’s talented or not. Who are you to judge Lady GaGa & call her “CaCa” I’d rather take Elton John’s words over you. Seeing as he what he’s doing! PEACE!

      • Yes

I agree with you Kim, obviously Elton see’s amazing talent in Gaga to do a record with her.

      • sandra

Good for you Kim! People who scoff at Elton and his choices don’t get it – This man has been part of the biz for more than 40 years. He knows whats good

    • kaloalo

dude, lady gaga is freakin famous and super talented, so i don’t see why he wouldn’t want to work with her
wth are you smoking to even suggest lady gaga isn’t a good singer?

i assume you also think taylor swift is awesome at singing

      • sandra

        good point!

      • Barry

She suxs also. Bette Midler is the BEST female singer out there right now.

      • Robby

Barry- While Bette is a great singer and performer, you make her sound like she is topping the charts. I just can’t take people like you with ridiculously cynical attitudes seriously. What the hell do you know about good music? Do you produce it? Are you writing classics on your piano? I doubt it. You seem to be to busy quacking on the internet.

      • Tella

Best singer out there “right now”?
She’s not out there. According to the charts, youtube views, and record sales, Gaga IS the best singer out there “right now.”

      • Rock Golf

Based on her appearance on American Idol last year, Midler’s best days in the recording studio are well behind her.

Apparently this isn’t the only Elton duet on the soundtrack. Nelly Furtado is duetting with Elton on a remake of Crocodile Rock for the same film.
And if you hear her perform acoustically, there’s not a damn thing wrong with Lady Gaga’s voice, or for that matter her songwriting.

      Barry comments = irrelevant.

      • Barry

        Yours are also irrelevant.

      • Bill

Bette Midler is great, but she hasn’t been “out there” in at least 15 years. I bet you think Cher is the best, too!

      • Brad

I know you are but what am I !!?? (Grow the hell up, people.)

    • Tarc

Considering everyone in the biz wants to work with her and her giant magical jar of earworms, I think you don’t have a clue.

    • RyanK

I have no interest in Lady Gaga’s music. But you clearly don’t know talent when you see it Barry.

    • mel

Barry, have you heard Gaga sing??? She can do pop, as well as old school tunes. Check out Lady Gaga on US Today show, she sang her songs but also “Someone to Watch Over Me” in a very jazzy tone at the start…amazing…Barry you may change your mind about her !

    • chitchat

Elton certainly does know talent and Lady Gaga has proven time and time again that she can sing and write her own music. Sold out concerts, number one hits over and over again. When they performed together a couple of years ago at the Grammies, they had everyone captivated! An honour for her to perform with Elton, and for him a chance to show the world that music is music no matter the form it is presented in. While Lady Gaga gets attention with her theatrics and costumes, so did Elton all those years ago. Some quite outlandish, and he has mellowed somewhat, but his talent remains and so will Lady Gaga’s. Get over it, critics of L/G. She is not going away.

  • Generation Gossip

  • wow

I don’t care about their duet…the movie looks fantastic!!!

  • René De Beaumarchais

Her expression seems to convey a:

“A duet with Elton John? Doesn’t excite me as much as dueting with Bieber but whatever!”

    • lol

I’m sure gaga would be very excited to collaborate with Elton, she loves him and he loves her

I never heard her once talk about Bieber though lol…

    • sandra

      as if.

    • Tella

This is an old picture promoting their duet at the 2010 Grammys.

  • Caitlin

They were amazing when they sang at the Grammys together. I can’t wait to hear it!

    • JackieB

      I agree! It was hot.
Now if we could only get Elton, Eminem and Lady Gaga together….

      • Tyler

I’m not sure she should work with eminem :-/, not really a big fan of his. But I also thought that Rihanna working with him would be terrible, but I was wrong. So i guess you never relly know.

  • sascha

I loved their duet at the Grammys and I can’t wait.

  • Hombre

Elton John will do anything to keep himself relevant (which he hasn’t been in years) and in the spotlight. Back in the day he would have never dreamed of a duet with a hack like Lady Gaga. He just hitches his wagon to the hot star of the day and runs with it. Sir Elton, you have become a joke. Please go away and never come back!

    • joe

You sound like an idiot. You and your opinion are irrelevant.

      • kaloalo

      • Barry

Another lover of no talented people like Caca.

      • wakeforce

Seriously, Barry? Lady Caca? That’s the best you can come up with? You and fake Larry David should meet up in a sleazy motel room. I’m sure you would get along just fine. And then after you give each other B J’s, you can carry out a suicide pact. Nobody would miss either of you!

      • Tyler

You’re probably like 80 years old and still listen to Mozart!!! You know nothing of my mother Monster. I’m betting you’re won of those judgmental people that says “Oh, that person is different so I am going to call them trash and posers because I can’t just look at people as BEING people!!!!” Like seriously, if you don;t like her than fine, but we don’t judge your music interest, so why judge ours?

  • Cam

What’s with all the hate? Their duet at the Grammy’s was awesome!

  • Phil

Nelly Furtado also has a song in the movie & soundtrack!

  • big vig

elton and gaga were FANTASTIC together at the Oscars…he definitely knows talent when he sees it. I can’t wait for the duet…Oscar for best song!

    • big vig

I meant they were great at the Grammys.ooops.

  • Catherine

Lady gaga and Elton!!!!!!!!!!! love you both!!!!!!!!!! it will be amazing i’m sure muaaaaaaaaaaa xxxxxxx

  • Shawn

Just an FYI, Gnomeo & Juliet is NOT a Disney film.

    • cowboy

It is being released by Disney/Touchstone

  • Lenny

GaGa is extremely talented and her voice is stunning. Haters please, just stop.

  • Destiny

Elton John is amazing and Gaga is unfathomable. This is the best thing Disney has ever done. And a movie with James McAvoy and Emily Blunt too. I thought Disney had changed but I see they are back on track.
