Image Credit: Fin Costello/RedfernsBobby Farrell, frontman of disco funk group Boney M., was found dead in his St. Petersburg hotel room earlier today, Reuters reports. He was 61. The German band member’s agent John Seine confirmed his passing, just a day after Farrell performed in his homeland. The cause of his death has yet to be determined.
Farrell was known for his epic stage presence and dancing. Farrell and Boney M. rose to fame in the 1970s with hits like European smash “Hooray! Hooray! It’s A Holi-Holiday,” “Rivers of Babylon” and “Rasputin.”

Daddy Cool indeed
I am not one to disrespect the dead but that was horrible. I am sorry. This is what disco-haters point to make their “Disco Sucks” case.
Learn English, moron. Bobby RIP.
RIP :’(
The question on everyone’s minds:
WHO?
And who are you, O Ken Almighty?
You need to show a bit respect..
Boney M was Britians biggest christmas no. 1
First Teena Marie, now Bobby Farrell. These things come in threes. Who’s next?
“The German band member’s agent John Seine confirmed his passing, just a day after Farrell performed in his homeland.”
He was from Aruba, which is part of the Netherlands, so you’re not making any sense.
Oddly enough the only song I think Americans would slightly recognize that is attributed to Boney M (altho, I believe Bobby Farrell didn’t actually have a “part” in it) is a Christmas song – Mary’s Boy Child. It’s only a few days past Christmas and no mention of the one song that might make a link for people. Odd.
Depends on your age, I guess. “Rivers of Babylon” was a top 40 hit back in the late 70s. (Their only US top 40 single, I believe.)
Bye bye Rasputin.
I loved their songs (Boney M) I wish there will be more CDs and DVDs released soon as fans of theirs would love a collection of their songs.RIP Rasputin.
