Lady Gaga releases cover art for 'Born This Way' single: It's fierce

born-this-wayWow, could the run-up to the release of Lady Gaga’s forthcoming single “Born This Way”—and the album of the same name—be any more drawn out? The pop diva has released the lyrics to the song; moved the premiere from Grammys Sunday to this coming Friday; told us that Born This Way is going to be the “greatest album of the decade”; and released the artwork for the album as a whole. Whew! And today—shown here at the left—we are seeing the cover art for the single for the first time. (Perez Hilton officially debuted the cover.) And it’s quite the doozy of a photo: Doesn’t Gaga look almost animalistic in this shot? It’s—dare I say the word, especially after Perez used it to describe the art, too—totally and completely fierce. And really, would you expect anything less? Gaga’s hair flows mane-like, and it almost seems like you might find the creature she’s channeling somewhere in the African jungle. I’m really digging it. Now, can we just hear the song?

What do you think? Loving it? Hating it? Sound off below…

It’s Gaga Fierce – ooh la la

    • LOL

It’s a Gaga world. We just live in it.

    • Tiffany

      LOVE IT!!!!
I love how wild her hair looks! I like the little horns too. She reminds me of a vulnerable yet-to-be-discovered animal. Precious.

      • SXiPPY

What’s up with the growth-like tumors on her face and her pointy shoulder blades though? Are we to assume she is still going with this monster theme?

    • John

FYI the previously released Born This Way artwork is NOT the album artwork, just a teaser. The actual album artwork hasn’t been released yet

    • Floopa Bambers

I’ve heard it already and believe me… it’s BEYOND.

So you must work for Interscope Records…which is why you’re paid to sit here and leave positive comments.

      • @JAY

Gasp! You mean everyone online isn’t who they say they are? That some might have motives other than fandom?

      • Kelcie

This person could also just be a perpetrator that just posted that to post it. Happens all the time… :/
LOVE the cover though. I gasped when I saw it. It’s just stunning. I don’t care about the whole “I’ve seen this before” stuff. It doesn’t look like a fan made cover, and the photography and digital techniques are well done.

    • Schadenfreude

Love the cover and she looks fantastic but…

It’s far from original – we’ve seen this before.

Kylie did this far better back in 2007 during her “X” period – all the way down to the lettering.

GaGa is far from being the seminal artist/performer/creature that everyone thinks she is.

  • Jonathan

I like it, although it looks nothing like her. It seems to fit well as a progression from The Fame Monster cover. It’ll probably grow on me like that one did.

  • Jordin

I love it!!! Very bold & unexpected. :D

    • Classy

It’s almost exactly as I expected.

  • Sascha

    It’s f*ckin amazing!

  • seb

AMAZING. Love this cover so much.

  • RobertJP90

Not liking it at all given that the song is called Born This Way. It’s meant to be about loving yourself the way you are etc but she is photo shopped to the maximum on it.

Also reminds me of Kylies 2 Hearts artwork too much.

    • Pogi

I believe that’s the whole point she’s trying to get across. Society is always changing parts of their bodies both prosthetically and digitally, especially like on magazine covers and such. This is a clear statement of how she’s “following” the norm on the album cover, but the song ironically contradicts it. It’s SICK! =)

      • Elena

Son’t you just love when artists criticize an ill of society then participate/engage in that same ill, then they can justify it by saying it’s just “irony” and “that’s the whole point”.
So she is about loving yoursefl the way you are, then photoshops her pic to death, but then it’s just that she is being ironic? It’s just like THE FAME, allegedly an attack of Hollywood and America’s obsession with fame and famewhoring, yet she was being a famewhore/attention-whore extraordinaire with all her stunts and gimmicks…LOL

      • AK

@Pogi: That explanation makes about as much sense as the one she gave for her meat dress.

    • B-

      Looks like a Ke$ha cover.

    • Kara

Yeah, it reminds me of Kylie’s album cover also.

  • sally

Her face looks amazing, but I can’t help but notice she looks bony. Look at her shoulder. Girl needs to eat and not work too much. <3

    • anya

That boniness was photoshopped in. If you look at her forehead and cheek you can see weird bumps as well.

      • Your wrong

        Its not photoshopped.
Its make-up that her favorite fashion designer, McQueen used in his last collection before his death. The single is also being released on the day of his death a year later.

    • Kel

Those are spines not her real shoulders, duh!

    • Lucy

      agreed, those bones look spooky!

    • someone_legal

Girl don’t be dumb, those protrusions aren’t really her bone structure.

    • MCS

The boniness is ironic, it’s how she is following the norm on the album cover, but the song contradicts it.

  • Scott

Can’t wait to hear the release Lady Gaga is fierce

  • anya

This cover art is pretty interesting. I like it. But Gaga has not released the artwork for the album as a whole yet, so I’m not sure why the article says that.

    • huh?

i must’ve missed it. where does it say that? the article only states that it’s the single’s cover art

      • huh?

        oh wait nevermind. found it.

  • Dave

I kinda like it more than the cover art for the album. It’s interesting. The bones sticking out from her shoulders are a bit scary, though. But maybe that was accentuated? I don’t know. Either way, it’s a cool photo.

    • Tiffany

She hasn’t released the art work for the album yet. That was just an image that she used to promote the date of the album release.

  • bol3

    Wow..Gaga is so ugly
    But this is great cover.

  • lila

The phrase “don’t be a drag. just be a queen” totally come to mind when you see this. Not that she looks like a drag queen, though she does look androgynous and i found the cover interesting.

  • Kim Lerona

I think the artwork is amazing!
I definitely haven’t seen this cover before, so all the haters will have to prove me wrong, but yeah. it’s almost like there’s an animal that will just grab you and eat you alive!

  • RyanGAGAMad

I LOVE IT , it really suits gaga , im so looking forward to this sigle :)

  • b

    looks like a kesha cover…
