Arcade Fire, Rihanna, Justin Bieber, and Cee Lo Green were among the acts honored on Tuesday night at the 2011 Brit Awards, held at London’s O2 Arena. Arcade Fire — surprise winners of Album of the Year (The Suburbs) at Sunday’s Grammys – took home two trophies, for International Album and International Group. Rihanna claimed the award for Best International Female Star, Cee Lo Green was named International Male Solo Artist, and Justin Bieber, who said he was “disappointed” that he didn’t win Best New Artist at the Grammys, triumphed in the International Breakthrough Act category. British acts Mumford & Sons, Tinie Tempah, Plan B, and Take That also took home awards.

Why would anyone want to give Justin Beiber an award that isn’t Best Swoopy Hair Since The Rachel?
Because his songs are catchy and he’s a very talented kid.
Except “catchy” does not mean they are good.
MmmBop is catchy and it is $hit.
@Michelle: Don’t hate. You know you loved Hanson back in the day.
Lol! Seriously! Why do people act like they didn’t have a “Justin Bieber” when they were little girls. People are too mean spirited today, he’s just having fun and he really CAN sing. Can’t say that for quite a few “hot” artist today.
What a sissy!
Not from what I can tell. He certainly didn’t impress at the Grammys this year.
I am loving all the love for Arcade Fire! Glad this band is finally being recognized outside of Canada!!
After the Grammys, I’ll pass on ever seeing or listening to Arcade Fire again. Their performance was just awful.
Now maybe Bieber’s insane fans will finally be able to sleep at night.
I’m really happy for Arcade Fire !!
good for them! And good for Justin, too ! He shouldn’t worry too much about the grammy! He’s got years ahead of him to snag it.
What’s with all the Bieber hatred? He’s been playing drums and guitar since he was a little kid, he writes his own songs and he gives 100% to his fans. I’d like to see some of the haters accomplish what he has by the age of 30 let alone 16.
I agree, he’s a good kid! (:
More than anyone can say for some of his insane fans.
Amen!
they’re little kids, man. How are you going to call them insane? Be easy.
@elle…Oh yeah? So they get a pass because they’re little kids? Sending death threats and going to a talented woman’s wikipedia page and editing it to say “go die in a hole” is all good because they’re kids? Sorry, it is not acceptable for anyone to do things like that, especially over something as silly as an award. I know not all his fans do things like that, but some do. And they are disgusting and pathetic little brats for it.
lol oh yeah, whether the kids that did that are bratty and rude is not debatable. But calling them insane is a little harsh is all I’m saying.
Oh Canada indeed! Thank you for Arcade Fire, you really needed them after giving the world Celine Dion, Nickelback, Avril Lavigne & Justin Bieber.
Glad to see Arcade Fire and Mumford & Sons get deserved recognition.
Judging from their performance, AF was awful and M&S was brilliant. And considering my usual taste in music, that’s reversed from expected.
Can’t wait to see Arcade Fire in Moncton, NB this summer when they open for U2. Just me and 100 000 of my closest friends at the Magnetic Hill Music Festival. Should be a party Atlantic Canadian Style!
OMG, I’m sooo glad the correct album won the grammy. The Suburbs is an AMAZING album!! In my opinion, Arcade Fire is the most impressive band to come out of Canada maybe ever, I saw them at the beginning of the summer in T.O. at Centre Island and I can tell you that they are UNREAL Live. There wasn’t one person in that audience that wasn’t singing at the top of their lungs along with Wake up. I still get goosebumps. As far as their success goes they have been calling all of their own shots right from the beginning as they are an INDEPENDANT band. I think it may be the first time that an independant album, the Suburbs, debuted at number 1 in Canada, the States, UK, and Ireland. Simply legendary and WELL-Deserved. Go ARCADE FIRE!!!
@ Willow, I’m soooo jealous. I have tickets for U2 in Toronto. Florence and the Machine is supposed to open, which will be amazing but when they cancelled this show last year the FIRST thing I thought was maybe they would reschedule with A.F. opening as Bono has been saying for a few years that A.F. is his favorite band. Oh well, they’ll be back anyway and I will NEVER miss another Arcade Fire show!!! You’re VERY lucky to be going to that festival though. Enjoy
justin who? This one talent bum’s 15 minutes of fame is about to run out when the pre teen girlw discover someone who actually has talent and better hair.
Justin CAN sing. He does have talent. Do you get some sort of satisfaction from calling a 16 year old a bum? You’re pathetic.
hahahahaha, justin bieber wants a Grammy, hahahaha
Yes, he makes more money than you. Why do people keep asking this?
My opinion of the Brits went down a bit with Justin – although it was just new artist! I thought this was a crazy American ‘tweenie’ thing. It REALLY goes down with no mention of Gaga! She sold out the O2 a bunch of times, and is far above the rest.
