Dancing Thom Yorke meme meets Lady Gaga, Guns N' Roses, 'Black Swan': Which is your favorite?

lotus-flower-radioheadMove over Sad Keanu and Hipster Ariel, there’s a new meme in town: Dancing Thom Yorke.

The Radiohead frontman has become the target—or should we say, beneficiary?—of a slew of internet mash-up vids since last Friday, when his band released a video of Yorke dancing his Limey heart out to the track “Lotus Flower” off their just-released album, The King of Limbs. (See the original clip here.) The first hybrid was an ingenious mix of Yorke and Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies,” a song that already knows a thing or two about web spoofs. Since then, crafty fans have set Yorke’s herky-jerky hoofing to any number of other songs, with predictably hilarious results.

Below is a round-up of a few of our favorites: Yorke boogeying to songs like Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance” and “Maniac” from Flashdance, and even auditioning for Vincent Cassel in a cleverly spliced Black Swan parody. Check them out, and then head to the comment board to let us know which one is your favorite:

Lady Gaga, “Bad Romance”

Michael Sembello, “Maniac” (from the movie Flashdance)

Thom Yorke auditions for Black Swan

Guns N’ Roses, “Welcome to the Jungle”

and of course, the one that started it all….

Beyoncé, “Single Ladies”

Without a doubt, the ‘Black Swan’ mash-up is the best. Good editing, and Thom’s moves fits with ballet.
Having said that, Thom Yorke can do whatever the hell he wants!

The CLERKS one on YouTube is the BEST by far.

I can’t believe EW ignored that one.

there’s a really good mash-up with “I whip my hair back and forth” by willow smith. It’s on the side bar from the beyonce version, but EW won’t let me post the link here soooo…I guess if you’re feeling adventurous…

  • Sonny

    • Jennifer

The Jay and Silent Bob one is CLASSIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • jt

works best with Black Swan. The other music is too fast for the movements.

  • SS

The Bad Romance is pretty great… his dancing matches up pretty hilariously.

  • Renaton

Maniac is perfect! Jennifer Beals must be so jealous!

  • Radzinsky

This is all blasphemy to Radiohead and the wonderful “Lotus Flower,” a song which no Lady Gag song can compete.

    • Renaton

I love Radiohead. “The Bends” is my favorite album of all time. I cried in their concert when they came to Brazil.

But I see no harm in a little spoof. If anything, the people behind these videos are probably so obsessed with the video and the song that they came up with this stuff.
Fans really should take themselves less seriously.

    • Mindy

I’m a huge Radiohead fan and I still find these to be very fun and funny.
