Amanda Seyfried sings 'L'il Red Riding Hood' -- EXCLUSIVE

Amanda-SeyfriedImage Credit: RD/Orchon/Retna Ltd/CorbisCan’t wait to see the atmospheric horror-fairy-tale Red Hiding Hood this weekend? Then whet your fangs on actress Amanda Seyfried’s eerie acoustic cover (available here for purchase) of Sam the Sham & The Pharoahs’ “L’il Red Riding Hood,” exclusively here at EW’s Music Mix:

Seyfried stars as Miss Riding Hood in the big-screen retelling of a story we all know from Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke. Much like that folk tale, this song is probably stored somewhere in the recesses of your mind. Just think, “Hey there Little Red Riding Hood, you sure are looking good,” sung in the voice of the “Woolly Bully” guy. Yeah, that song.

What do you think? Remind anyone of Mia Farrow singing that creepy Rosemary’s Baby song back in 1968?

Amanda Seyfried is talented, gorgeous and a beautiful singer. I hope she goes far! She’s the only reason why I want to see Red Riding Hood

  • Remy

Very nice cover – I like the eeriness of it.

No, if anyone should take note it should be Scarlett Johansson. She should just shut up and look pretty; pretty skanky!

    Love it!

  • Giselle

Her voice is lovely, and has just the right touch of little girl breathiness to be creepy if only there was any emotion put into the song. It’s just my opinion, but the performance just left me cold. There wasn’t any real emotional investment. If there had been, it would have been knock-your-socks-off creepy.

Agreed. So badly wanted her to get there too as it could’ve been so brilliant. But she didn’t.

  • jodipo

sorry, but its not “eerie” in any way. I think she does a decent job for sure, but it just sounds like an acoustic version. I think Amanda Seyfried is very talented and could have a singing career if she wanted it

i was like “ok, that sounds good” this morning and i now have it on repeat.. addicted!

  • Jen

Yeah, I don’t find it “eerie” either. Nice voice.

I think I remember this song from my childhood late nights listening to Dr. Demento.

  • LOL

    Not eerie, but pretty good.

This sexy lady is a True Talent. She’s AOK in all departments. Who could forget GINGER SNAPS?

    • Sonja

Ginger Snaps? She didn’t have anything to do with that film. I have it.

  • Ben

I LOVE this cover! I have the original version in my iTunes, which I sang in show choir several years ago in high school.

  • Paul

Sounds like Natalie Merchant to me. But better:)

  • jkrau

I have LOVED Amanda Seyfried’s voice ever since Mamma Mia, I’m obsessed with her songs from the soundtrack!!! People may be freaking out over Gwyneth’s ability, but Amanda is a REAL, blessed talent. More please!
