Miley Cyrus to launch world tour this April: Is this the best career choice for her? Take our poll!

Singer/actress/salvia enthusiast Miley Cyrus has announced that she’ll be hitting international stages for a 2011 tour.

Cyrus’s 2009 world tour was technically global, but considering it only hit the U.S., the U.K. and Ireland, this will be the first truly international tour for the onetime Disney Channel star.

It kicks off in Ecuador on April 29 and hits Peru on May 1, but after that, it looks like Miley is open to suggestions. “Where should I go next?” she wrote on her official Facebook page. “More tour dates will be announced soon!” (Take our poll after the jump.)

In the year since she released her third album Can’t Be Tamed, it seems the public has been less interested in her music than her PG-rated coming-of-age scandals. Sure, her music still sells well, but more people were talking about her sort-of girl-on-girl kiss and her admitted indulgence in a legal hallucinogen than any of the songs off her last record. (Note: “Party in the U.S.A.” came out on a prior EP.)

So one wonders: Is her music career the best thing for the teen superstar to focus on right now? Cyrus herself didn’t seem to think so a year ago. After releasing Tamed, Miley said she was planning on directing her efforts toward her film career and was considering hiring an acting coach.

But before we pick apart her choices too much, let’s not forget that she is only 18. If anything, switching career paths every few months is probably the most normal thing in the life of a person whose face helps sell multivitamin gummies.

But that doesn’t mean we can’t vote on where we’d like to see Cyrus in the next few years. Take our poll and sound off below.

Can’t Be Tamed was a surprisingly good album, and I read that she’s getting back in the studio with Dr.Luke who did Party in the U.S.A.
To be honest she isn’t much of an actress. I say tour, make albums, stick to pop music.

I think she should stick with John Shanks for her next album. He handled the second half of her Can’t be Tamed album so very well. They showed a more mature side of her while still rocking at the same time with the walls of guitars. And for that next album, have Shanks produce half the songs on the album and Dr. Luke the other half. I don’t like her acting that much so she should stick with music.

I love her and HispanicMatch.net was amazing

I really don’t think it is a good idea right now. Can’t Be Tamed was a huge dissapointment. I think she right now needs to re-group herself. Especially with what happened with her parents.

Seeing as how she’s got two new movies in the can ready to drop later this year, it’s definitely time for her to get back to music. Her film production company has several projects in development for her so while she waits for them to go into production, she might as well get back to touring and making music in the studio.

Can’t Be Tamed was a very good album. if sales were disappointing, it’s because she happened to release it as she transitions from youth to adult entertainer and it’s expected a blurring of the lines would occur. she’s growing as an actor. i see her making more movies, still. Touring and making more music is something she can do in stride. can’t wait to see more.

I was gonna ask how her last album did. I`m not a fan of Miley, but she needs to work with Dr. Dre or Lil Jon on her next album, they`ll get her crunked!

      • PN

Lil’ Jon’s a very diverse producer–he’s not so limited to crunk music and hip-hop, he’s done other genres as well and I think he would be an interesting choice for Miley. Dr. Dre is good, but I don’t think he would work with Miley.

i think touring will be good for her. it keeps her out of trouble, and being around her fans all the time will help her stay grounded. and plus, being on stage is what she loves to do, so i think touring is a reaaalllyyy good idea for her now!(:

    • JustAFan

I totally agree with you Megan nothing means more to Miley that her career and her fans so this tour will really help her connect back with her fans. I really wish she’d come to the caribbean I really want to see her live.

If BRC is serious about putting his family back together, he steps in right now and cancels her tour for this year until she gets grounded back to Earth once again. Last thing she needs is to be touring while her family is falling apart. BRC…step in now and cancel that tour for her own good or her next stop will be rehab, maybe jail. She needs to step away from the spotlight and come back to reality once again.

WTF?? she’s 18 her father can NOT control her life and career, PERIOD.
btw, one tour is a lot of $$ especially for someone like Miley!!

  • lola

i think touring will be a good idea right now… then when she’s done a couple more movies, and off to college!!!!! stay away from trouble and papparrazi leave her alone..she needs downtime.

  • allie

i don’t care what she does

  • Taylor

I’m sooo happy!!! soo glad she has a tour!!! I lvoe you Miley you’re the best and f*ck the haters…jealous freaks…its soo amazing how some people have nothing else to do than pick up on successful people who are going far ahead with their career!!!

  • Arissa

I totallyyyyyy luv for her to go on tour n step away from the people who r critizing her. Plus, she loves to do music n i would love to go to one of her concerts!!!!!!!!!!!!! It would be totally awesome!!!!!!!!

A world tour right now? Hmm… I don’t know about that. The world has become a lot more unstable as of late: places hit with natural disasters, governments in upheaval, etc. I would wait a little while and let things calm down a little first. If I were Miley, I would stay a little closer to home and tour other cities in the United States (perhaps in Alaska or in Hawaii?). Right now, I would take things slow, focus on family issues (which I am glad is improving), and take a breather. I know you have to “strike while the iron is hot,” but perhaps that is what contributed to some of the recent family turmoil. Now one is going to forget you, Miley, if you take a month off. You’re too big a star to be overlooked that easily. Rest up, Miley Ray, and if you must travel, please be safe. The world loves you, and so do I. Always.

Anything is fine! Miley is Great!

I guess the “international” tour is a way to get her out of L.A. and to clean the air. Good idea.
I’m surprised she’s working with Dr Luke again, I thought she didn’t like “cheesy pop” music. Anyway, good move again. Honestly there’s only two songs of Miley I like “Party in the USA” and “If we were a movie”(yes, lol). That’s because they are actually good songs. Like Diane Warren said: “You need a good song first, the rest will follow”.
Her “edgy” phase was just an act. She’s 18 and she has like $40 million on her bank account, there’s nothing edgy about that. Get your hair done, nails done, act pretty, sit pretty and that’s about it. That’s what Hilary Duff and the Olsen twins were doing at her age.
Getting one degree or two in college NEVER hurts. Tyra went back to school, Britney is getting a tutor. It’s always good to know about your own $40 million business.
I’m glad to hear the whole family is reunited. All she needs now is to quit the salvia and other foolishness, to listen to grammy award nominee Dr Luke, to throw the skanky/trashy outfits away and get some sassy/classy ones for the stage, and she will be just fine.

  • PN

She should tour to perform the songs from last June’s released Can’t Be Tamed album live! I’m sure she’s ready to do all or most of the album live. Robot is one of my favorites on the album and I’m sure she wants the guitars revved up for them in a live setting!

  • Hannah

This artical is dreadful, singer/actress/salvia enthusiast, what is that all about ? You cnat label her like that. She is a talented star and if she wants to go on tour then she can, everyone knows that it will be a sell out so everyone thats against it, great thats your personal opinion but dont put her down, she’s getting enough of that already.
