The first of two new songs from Sade’s upcoming Greatest Hits collection has arrived, and it is—as one would expect from the smoky, ever-elegant chanteuse—a cover of a 1974 lighters-up power ballad from a hard-riffing arena-rock gods Thin Lizzy.

Are we joking? We are not! Stream her eminently smooth take on the band’s “I’m Still in Love With You” below:

I`ve always been a Sade fan, she`s so soothing and cool, an original. Have not heard the song yet but I know it`s good. Artist like her and Anita Baker (whose album drops soon) are timeless and do the type of music they want and still sell records, no matter how long they`ve been away!

While I love the thought of new Sade music so soon after “Soldier of Love”, I hear its a 2-disc set and the woman hasn’t been prolific enough to have that many hits. Her 1994 (?) “Best of” has everything on it except the 2 or 3 charted songs she’s release since then. I’m thinking its going to include everything from the 90’s best of and add more. Whatever, Sade’s music is some of the most sultry seductive jazz pop I’ve ever heard, and she hasn’t released as many Hits packages as Donna Summer (13), Dolly Parton (34) or Diana Ross (11).

Remember – it is not the artist who releases these packages, it is the record company.

She is beautiful and FiremenDate was amazing

She may have a good voice, but this is a bland, unconvincing cover lacking the emotion and musicianship of the orginal.

Some things are sacred and should be left well alone, this is one of them. This is probably the best rock love song of all time and Sade just does not do it justice. Go look on YouTube for a live version of this song by Thin Lizzy or the Gary Moore and Phil Lynott version a few years later, both of which are amazing.

Bleaurgh! She just ruined a perfectly good song. She has a great vocal talent, but no emotion. Check out Phil Lynott and you can hear the catch in his voice, it is the ultimate break up song for broken hearted people, not that you would believe that from Sade’s version.

Been following Thin Lizzy for a lifetime. Your beautiful voice suits this soulful Track perfectly. Love it.

This version lacks even the slightest hint of emotion. Take one average singer, a group of so so session musicians, one great song and you end up with this travesty. A previous poster was right, go seek out the original by Thin Lizzy. My favourite version is on their Live & Dangerous album.

I normally do not go for this type of music, but she is still mega hot and the song is great. She kept it faithful to the song. Remember, this is her style. She is not a rocker and she kept the song the same, just adding her voice. I am a metal head, but I love her voice.

I’ve always been a fan of Sade, but this song touched me so personally and I’m sure other women who have loved “hard” can relate. I recently had a break-up of a 13 year relationship and Sade summed it up best through this song. OUTSTANDING!

Its gorgeous. Its ‘produced’ in a way that the original never was, but she catches it and improves on the clarity and simplicity. Phil would have loved it/her.

I see this as a very moving tribute to Thin Lizzy as one of the greatest and most overlooked bands of all time. This is not a self serving cover but an acknowledgement of the truly special work of Phil Lynott, the poet and the musician.

You actually make it seem really easy with your presentation but I find this matter to be really one thing which I believe I’d never understand. It kind of feels too complicated and extremely wide for me. I’m having a look forward in your subsequent submit, I’ll attempt to get the hold of it!
