Sex fiends looking to get lucky on a first date could do worse than to head to Britain and loudly announce their fondness for Metallica and Nirvana.
That is the conclusion to be drawn from a new poll conducted by U.K. music and dating website tastebuds.fm. The site asked users “how far they’d likely go” on a first date and then collated the information to find out band’s fans were the most, and least, likely to go “all the way.”
A prurient waste of time? Maybe. But just for the record, it turns out that fans of Nirvana, Metallica, Gorillaz, and Linkin Park rank high in the promiscuity stakes while fans of Lady Gaga, Adele, and Coldplay are far less inclined to make sexy time, at least on a first date.

Not rocket science. Fans of dude music (Nirvana, Gorillaz, Metalica, Linkin Park, etc.) are men and fans of lady music (Lady Gaga, Adale, Coldplay) are ladies, and dudes want sex on a first date, and ladies don’t. Some generalization there (I’m a dude who likes both Coldplay and Nirvana) but generalizations often bare out in large test samples.

Its also target audience… Metallica & Nirvana appeal to a more rowdy, rock club type of person. Those people tend to live by the Sex, Drugs, rock & roll type of thinking.
The pop artists however, appeal to the tamer, older, and extreme youth crowds. Those people generally are not looking to get laid and smoke a doobie.
Personally, I’d rather hang with the Metallica/Nirvana group anyway
Makes sense Metallica,Nirvana… are more youthful and I could see that leading to spontaneous coitus.
Splice it up by age and sex. Otherwise it’s meaningless. Lady Gaga fans are overwhelmingly young girls, Coldplay fans are mostly old women. easy to apply a gender bias towards waiting in that case. Nirvana fans are old dudes, Metallica and Linkin Park are younger dudes. Easy to apply a “sex now” bias there.
I am a fan of Nirvana, Metallica, Gorillaz, Linkin Park, Lady Gaga, Adele and Coldplay… so this just confuses me.
LOL, me too. Although I’m not the type to even kiss on the first date, and rock is my preferred genre.
So my clean and well-thought out comment isn’t posting, but I agree with the the fan base age/gender being largely responsible for the results.
Now what would be fun is if EW had their own poll, everyone picked their favorite of the choices, and indicated their age/gender.
I’m a woman that loves Metallica and Nirvana… But this is not true.. maybe a few more dates first…
I happen to love all of the groups mentioned above and I’ve done it PRIOR to a first date!
I like all the mentioned bands does that make me a moderate or just undecisive? So confusing this survey is not one of the better things the UK has given us.

I don’t think the age argument has much leverage due to the fact that this is a dating site.. I’m pretty sure they don’t ask 13 year old if they put out on the first date. I like Nirvana, Coldplay, Adele and Gaga, but I wouldn’t be too keen on sleeping with any Linkin Park fans on the first date anyway
Most people saying they love all those bands are probably liars. How the hell could a fan of Metallica or Nirvana even entertain the idea that Lady Gaga or Coldplay music was good? Terrible, rotten pop, love, simple song writing crap. I don’t want to hear it.

Maybe because unlike you, we’re not so closed-minded that we can’t enjoy other types of music? Believe it or not, not everyone who enjoys hard rock and heavy metal lives and breathes it 24/7.
