There’s nothing particularly shocking about a magazine cover girl who isn’t exactly a covered girl.
But the photo of Christina Aguilera on the new issue of W Magazine has to be one of the oddest images in her visually eclectic career.
Could this be another example of Photoshop run wild? Truthfully, I kind of hope so: no healthy human body is meant to look like that. Actually, I’m not sure any human body does actually look like this: her elongated, stick-thin body looks more like Modigliani than flesh and blood.
Or perhaps the same people who once famously stretched out Paula Abdul in her “The Promise of a New Day” video have struck again after laying dormant so many years. (For an explanation of that, refer to In Living Color‘s wonderfully illustrative parody.)
Then again, maybe this rubbery, emaciated form is truly what Christina looks like these days (she must really count her carbs—and taking her human growth hormones). Clearly, the crazy amount of money she’s making from The Voice—she reportedly earns as much as the other three judges combined—is not going toward groceries.
As for the interview itself, Aguilera speaks candidly and gracefully about her tumultuous last year. Notwithstanding the success of The Voice, Xtina has weathered a divorce, a cinematic flop, and disappointing sales for her last album. Speaking about her failed marriage, Aguilera even hinted that there were affairs on both sides: “At one time or another, we were both not angels.”
In spite of her difficult year, Aguilera still has her eye on a long career, perhaps similar to her own musical icon Etta James. “I would never go down without a fight,” she says. “I still have my eyes on the prize: I want to be that old lady onstage shaking her hips and singing her greatest hits.”

Definitely photo shopped…
100% photo shopped. She is way chubbier in real life.
What kind of moronic hysterics is this creeper EW writer going on about?
This is NOTHING new – and this is a TERRIBLE EXAMPLE compared the dozens of more obvious shop jobs each month.
Grow up – and stop whining.
I like the 70s fiber optic hairdo.. Groovy!
Someone could use just wee bit of conditioner perhaps?
And Oompa Loompa orange.
The hair=terrible
This has to be photoshopped. She is sized like a real human in real life.
Either this is 200% photoshopped, either this is her body double. Anyway, this is not Xtina.
yeah, she gained quite a bit of weight after the divorce, so i think this has been digitally enhanced…. shame on the reporter for implying she’s anorexic. she looks quite regular sized right now, unlike the stick figure she was during her early career
Could care less about her size, but that hair is horrible. Did they get the same hair stylist from Hanna that did Soirse Ronin’s blond hair?
Wow fashion magazine (the same which transplanted Demi M. head) photoshopped Xtina on the cover. SHOCKING!!!!!!!!!!!!
BTW That W magazine cover is discussed everywhere. She and W are getting a lot of publicity. And nobody talk about Beyonce. Ops!
Yes Magge. It’s a race think though. But Xtina cover is way better.
It reminds me of that fiber optic lamp I bought at spencers on sale.
I know! Body and face double!
She’s probably twice as big
She’s definitely not that skinny.
Making this more realistic isn’t going to make this any less Ugly.
she is not that skinny and not that white either lol, she is missing a good 20lbs and a spray tan
umm why are they trying to make her look like Lady gaga? and yes its waaaay photoshopped – the last time i saw her she was looking alot more meatier/
This comment is annoying. Lady Gaga didn’t invent blond hair or being naked. Stop.
<3 True.
Ummm correct. Xtina dressed like this before, lol, and used that hair in 1 of her videos, and plus she was born with blonde hair unlike that ugly hoe Lady Gaga who I love btw.
Didn’t you hear? Lady Gaga created air back in 2008. Nothing existed before her. We were all just sitting in a vacuum of space and time waiting for Lady Gaga to come along and Express herself.. I mean create everything known to man so we could all copy it.
Seriously though, If anything this reminds me of old-school Christina circa Lady Marmalade.
@k, you speak the truth!
SO are the 1000 comments from people telling gaga she copied something…..yawn
and face much rounder and bloated
All true except art directors need to stop trying to put the two in the same types of photoshoots
Lady Gaga hasn’t done anything Madonna didn’t do except wear meat as a dress. Her music is awful copy of Madonna.
Uh I never have seen madonna in a kermit the frog costume or a planet…..
While Christina may not look like that in real life, there are plenty of women who do. At least I have dated several who are tall and slender…
Photoshop. Anyone who has seen The Voice knows she’s not that skinny. On that show she looks like a real person.
Not to mention, can we please get a moratorium on “So and so BARES ALL!” with the nude cover?
Seconded.
Amen!
We need more guys “baring all”…
She looks awful… washed-out and perhaps put in one of those medieval stretching machines for a while.
I wouldn’t have recognized her without the headline.
Okay I definitely hate over-photoshopped super-skinny cover women…but I didn’t think this was that bad. I mean, I’m sure they’ve trimmed her a bit, but I didn’t think she looked scary. And in the second photo on the website, the face-forward shot in the dress, she definitely doesn’t look unhealthily skinny. Regardless, I don’t think she’s actually as skinny as she appears in the magazine, but I really don’t care. She’s still a slender (by real people standards) woman with a killer voice and I kind of love her.
Why even bother putting her on the cover if they won’t use her actual body?! what a joke. They should just go with cartoon covers.
Amen!
I don’t get it. Are we supposed to be surprised there was some photo-shopping on a magazine cover? Every person on every magazine cover is photo-shopped. And I also don’t exactly understand why people are talking about her like she’s now some 300 lb. blimp. Yes she’s gained weight, but her only issue lately has been dressing herself accordingly. I bet given the right styling like here, she’d look fine. She’s been stick thin her entire career barring pregnancy, so I think a little weight could actually do her good. Regardless of any of that, I actually think the cover is really beautiful. It reminds me a lot of her Versace campaign from a a few years back and it almost looks like a painting. Also losing the red lipstick makes a world of difference. She looks great without it so hopefully she ditches it full time for her next album or at least changes is up a bit more.
Now you know she doesn’t look like that… she’s more orange and much more fuller figured… sheesh at least give us something believable !
She’s stunning, it reminds me of her Rolling Stone Cover, and some other 1 lessor known magazine. I wonder why this cover people aren’t talking about Beyonce same month cover.
Clearly photoshopped (what fashion magazine cover isn’t, really?). My question is, why photoshop in order to make her appear to have a LESS sexy body than she actually does?? She looks like a sickly 14 year old boy in this photo. Almost unrecognizable.
It a fashion mag they always do this. Like with Beyonces cover they trimed her nose down.
Oh since black ppl having narrow pointy nose shapes naturally can NEVER happen… righhht!;) Keep worshipping urselves white folks!
