Wow may Amy rest in peace.it’s not shocking but her death is incredibly sad. Her life was sad she had an amazing talent but let it go to waste RIP

  • justjack

True, nobody finds it a surprise, but that doesn’t mean it’s not tragic, senseless and a total waste. Fame (and the money that can come with it) is not kind to those who can’t control their inner demons. RIP Amy.

Guess she won’t be singing the new Bond song!

Amy’s death eerily reminds me of Layne Staley’s (from Alice In Chains) death in 1992. The public was just bracing for the news when it would be all over. When I read of Laynes physical withering away, I knew that his days were numbered unless he would dramatically change things..but he didn’t. Amy Winehouse was no different. Drug abuse. Front page tabloid news. A life spiraling in inertia. Same ending.
Amy was unique in today’s musical scene. It’s a shame.

      whoops..I meant 2002.

So, Amy Winehouse is dead. That pretty much sums up how I feel about the news.

Someone has just died, folks. Some of the comments in this stream are sarcastic and inappropriate given the gravity of the situation. Please keep your wiseass comments to yourself. May she rest in peace.

Do you know about the massacre in Norway? Now *that’s* a grave situation. People die every day. I made a comment here that Amy’s death it was not unexpected, very sad and such a waste… but death itself is not a reason for reverence. We’re all gonna die some day.

      • SteverB

May she R.I.P AND the victims in Norway. And thank you, Squishmar, for trying to add some perspective to this and helping to save us from the sanctimonious ilk.

      • Duh

You’re probably the same type of d-bag who brings up Columbine every chance you get.

      • Vox populi

        To Duh,
I was at Columbine, a music artist dying is in no way, shape, or form the same thing. Not cool dude, not cool

      • Squishmar

To Duh… you missed my point entirely. And no, I am not one of those “d-bags” like that. To Vox populi… I am very sorry to hear that you had to go through something like that. What happened today (in Norway) must, in some way, bring it all back. Stay well.

OMG this is such sad news, R.I.P Amy. Never forget you….

  • sean

another member of the 27 Club. Jim, Kurt, Jimmy and Janis will be there to welcome her. RIP.

  • Demond

This is sad news. You do hope that these people beat their demons but this is what happens most of the time.I thought she would have gotten herself together after her performance in Belgrade.I honestly liked some of her songs.Lindsay Lohan needs to get her act together or we will be reading a headline like this about her.Drugs destroys lives.R.I.P. Amy Winehouse.May you be at peace.

    • Squishmar

After I watched the meltdown in Belgrade was when I knew (but hoped I was wrong) that this would be forthcoming. She just seemed to not care any more. That footage was heartbreaking.

      • Demond

Its sad to say this but I found the videos on Youtube of her performing in Belgrade funny at the time of their release.I’m mad at myself now for doing that.I thought she was one of the few good new artists. She was a attractive young lady back in 2003 before her addictions took over.I really hoped she would have gotten better.Situations like this you also have to blame the people around them too.How can they sit back and watch these talented people kill themselves like this. It’s truly sad.

      • Squishmar

Yes, certainly there are “enablers” but in the end, it’s up to the individual. There’s only so much you can do short of keeping someone chained up in a room and denying them drugs. Thing is, she was chained up anyway. She’s free now.

FINALLY! Tired of her HOARDING all the coke!

  • CJ

RIP Amy, now your struggles have ended. A tragic end to a tragic life.

  • Larry

I’m pretty certain her addictions did her in, but I will be patient for the story to unfold. Maybe Lilo can play Winehouse in the bio-pic!

  • Janet

    Rest in Peace Amy,
