Taylor Swift covers Eminem's 'Lose Yourself, says 'Yo!' very well: Watch it here

Taylor Swift, who’s always kinda shocked about something, now takes pride in causing her fans to make the Surprised Face.

And she’s been extremely successful at achieving that during her Speak Now tour by covering hometown artists from each stop.

In Toronto, she played a Canadian medley that included Justin Bieber’s “Baby,” Alanis Morissette’s “You Learn,” and Tal Bachman’s “She’s So High” (though—you guys!—she totally wasn’t).

In Newark, New Jersey, during a set that we reviewed in EW, it was Bon Jovi’s “Livin’ On a Prayer” and Bruce Springsteen’s “Dancing in the Dark.” And just last Wednesday, she performed Eminem’s “Lose Yourself” for Grand Rapids, Michigan, segueing into a cover of Uncle Kracker’s “Smile.”

We don’t know what we like more about this clip, that Taylor’s so gratified by shouting “Yo!” or that billions of preteen girls know every single word to an Uncle Kracker song. Watch Swift pay tribute to Eminem’s mom’s spaghetti after the jump.

      Very cool.

    • HC

agreed. that shiz was too cute.

      • Tom

I’m going to have to agree with Kayne West at this point. Maybe we judged him too harshly about thinking Beyonce should have won.

    • Rush

      No Kid Rock?

I’m not a Taylor Swift hater. Indeed, I enjoy her music despite how formulaic her songwriting is. But these concerts are just so twee. Not Taylor, but the audience. If I paid those ticket prices and Ticketmaster surcharges, I would want to hear the music, not a bunch of tweens singing along.

  • Grubi

I must admit, that was kind of adorable.

    • Grubi

Lol, I hadn’t even read “Love It!”‘s comment when I made my comment.

  • Julie Taylor

Never been a T. Swift fan, but the hometown song idea is really cool. Kudos.

    • Elizabeth

I know its kinda trite, but I do love when musicians pander to the geography of the crowd. You can only yell the name of the city so many times. Cool points for TSwift!

I will marry her. She just doesn’t know it yet. She’s awesome.

    • JoeRandom

Yeh, sure you will. Good luck with her anorexia when you do marry her.

      • Dave

        Saves money on food.

      • JoeRandom

Lol smart-@ss. What you might save on food will be peanuts compared to the medical bill that will rack up.

      • KM

she doesn’t have anorexia. she play a 2 hour-concert every night, it’s like a 2 hour cardio plus she doesn’t diet. the things people make up just to hate. sigh.

      • JoeRandom

KM, I don’t hate her, I have no reason to hate her, I just find her to be way too skinny. It’s just my honest opinion.

But if you really think a 2 hour concert is like 2 hours of cardio, you are sadly mistaken.

there just people who have good genes people. it doesn’t mean they’re not healthy.

she also covered ‘cowboy take name away’ by the Dixie chicks because martie mcguire was there with her twins.

She’s coming to Salt Lake, what is she going to sing here? The Osmonds, The Used. Can we just pretend for a night that Led Zeppelin is from Salt Lake?

I have to say, the more I see this young lady perform, the more impressed I am- she really understands hows to entertain, pay tribute, and stay true to herself, all at the same time. A really good role model for young girls who want to know how far hard work can take them.

  • Cassie

Taylor’s too cute. I still don’t understand how people can say she has no musical talent, I find her wonderful.

    • Julie

I think I am gonna hurl.

  • Alex

she looks so pretty in that vid

  • Rebekah

I’m not really a fan of Taylor’s, but I truly did enjoy this. I think it’s a wonderful idea to pay tribute to the musicians and music from each town she visits on her tour.

  • dropper

Cute. It’s always nice to see a musician look like they are really enjoying themselves during a concert.

  • dope

she’s dope. she became so much cooler than before now, to me.

to the dude above, I’ll marry her first.

  • Cam

Not the biggest Taylor fan, but this was pretty cool. And the covering of hometown artists on her tour is pretty cool. Kudos to her.
