Over two years after the release of her post-American Idol record, High Hopes and Heartbreak, sunny Season 7 American Idol alum Brooke White is back, but no longer as a solo artist.
White now sings alongside Jack Matranga in a duo they’ve named Jack and White, which formed earlier this year after the two met for a songwriting session for White’s own album. “Everything we started writing started sounding like its own thing,” White explains to EW. “This wasn’t a Brooke White record, this was a collaboration.” And so, the duo was born.
A few months later, Jack and White are set to unveil their debut EP, Gemini, on August 30. The disc, currently available for pre-order on iTunes, has a “modern folk-pop” sound according to White. The singer, in true songwriter fashion, also describes her duo’s sound with an image: “Horseback riding down the Pacific coast—that’s what it is!”
EW has the exclusive stream of the pair’s debut single, “Gemini,” a luminous track that, as the lyrics state, walks “a fine line between darkness and sunshine.” Check it out below:

While I am happy to see an article on Jack and White here, I am still astounded at EW bloggers’ inability to figure out the difference between “its” and “it’s.” Didn’t you people go to school?
The possesive form of “it” is “its”. The contraction form of “it is” is “it’s”. EW is correct.
The comment was probably relevant when it was posted. The thing about EW is, they post their posts then proofread AFTERWARDS.
