Justin Bieber to celebrate Christmas in song with Taylor Swift, new original holiday tunes

What does Justin Bieber want for Christmas? Perhaps a new paint job for his Ferrari.

In any event, we know exactly what he is getting us this holiday season. The 17-year-old singer will be dropping a Christmas album this year, and not only will he be bringing you tidings of musical yuletide cheer, but he’s also going to do it with a crop of entirely original tunes.

“This Christmas album is amazing. Might be the best album yet,” Bieber’s manager Scooter Braun wrote on Twitter in a conversation with his client. “All originals … soon 2 b classics. every1 i play it 4 is blown away. #excited.”

According to other Bieber tweets (Bweets?), he has recently been in the studio with Sean Kingston (who previously worked with Bieber on “Eenie Meenie”), producer J.R. Rotem (knob twiddler on Jason DeRülo’s “In My Head”), producer Kuk Harrell (the man behind Bieber’s “Never Say Never” single), and Taylor Swift.

It’s unclear which collaborations are going on the Christmas album, though the idea of Bieber doing a Christmas duet with Swift (who, we’ll remind you, grew up on a Christmas tree farm) is the sort of thing that would excite record executives the same way cheese made Monterey Jack go cuckoo-bananas.

Anyway, Bieber’s Christmas album is one of a handful of high-profile holiday delights hitting store shelves this season. Michael Bublé has an album simply titled Christmas coming out, which features traditional tracks and a handful of duets (including a collaboration with Shania Twain on “White Christmas” and a cover of Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You”).

For the more indie-minded (or adorableness-craving), there’s the forthcoming holiday album by She & Him, the band consisting of M. Ward and Zooey Deschanel—who, considering her new TV series New Girl and her appearance in the big-screen comedy Our Idiot Brother, is coming close to Franco-esque levels of multimedia exposure. Little is known about their Christmas release, though it will almost certainly be heavy on sleigh bells (though not Sleigh Bells).

With Bieber and Bublé going head-to-head for holiday dollars, they could each challenge some of the biggest-selling holiday albums of all time. On top of that list? Kenny G’s Miracles: The Holiday Album, which has moved over seven million copies since it dropped in 1994. Though let’s be perfectly honest: The greatest holiday album of all time is Carey’s Merry Christmas. I mean, just watch her trim that tree!

Whose Christmas album are you most looking forward to? And what holiday music always hits your stereo once the weather outside gets frightful? Let us know in the comments below.

Lucy I-remember, when you go to buy the CD be sure to pin the money to your jumper and look both ways before you cross the street, also don’t take candy from strangers…even if they look like Justin.

I think Michael Buble is in his prime right now so I am definitely looking forward to that album. I think having Bieber do a Holiday album now is just plain ridiculous. He has technically only released ONE studio album. This seems like just a ploy to capitilize on his image while he stumbles through puberty without having to actually try.

He’s done only one full length pop album against all these EPs and side projects before and after it. The least he could have done was release his second full length album before Christmas. I think he’s doing the Christmas album way too soon. He’s going to suffer from burnout the way that the R&B group B2K did. They had some 4 albums within 2 years, even a Christmas album too. And while they had sold out tours, having too much music product just overwhelmed some people. Justin will suffer burnout by the time he turns 20 or 23.

I am looking forward to Christmas albums made by artists who can actually SING and not just play to the kiddies – like Bieber & Swift do.
