Scotty McCreery set to tour with Brad Paisley in 2012

Talk about a vote of confidence!

Just a week before the release of Scotty McCreery’s debut album, Clear As Day, country superstar Brad Paisley has announced that the American Idol winner will be joining him on the road in 2012.

On Sunday, as part of an encore performance during the final show on his H2O II: Wetter & Wilder World Tour, Paisley surprised audiences by bringing McCreery out on stage with him. “Do you want to go on tour with me?” he asked. When the North Carolina-native nodded “Yes,” Paisley responded, “Great, I’m going to take you out next year!” and later tweeted the above photo of the pair.

Details on the tour will be released soon, but it’s safe to say that McCreery is already excited about it. “it’s really humbling that somebody like him would invite me to tour w/ him,” he tweeted. “I just hope i’m ready for any pranks he throws my way.”

While it remains to be seen whether Scotty will enjoy true career longevity, the deep-voiced country crooner has certainly gotten off to a good start. Since Idol wrapped, his exclusive Wal-Mart disc, American Idol Season 10: Scotty McCreery EP, has sold 185,000 copies, and his coronation single “I Love You This Big,” reached number 15 on Billboard‘s Country Songs chart.

On top of that, this summer’s American Idols Live Tour proved extremely successful, selling out — or almost selling out — nearly every arena it visited. (That’s a big step up from Season 9’s tour, which only played to about 60 percent capacity.)

Are you ready for McPaisley? Will you be buying tickets to the show? And what do you think Paisley’s decision to tour with the young star says about McCreery’s future in country music?

Scotty is like a young Elvis mixed with Keith Whitley. I listened to the online samples of his album and loved it, but I wish that instead of the American Idol song “I Love You This Big”–it would have been nice if it was the song “When You Say Nothing At All” by Keith Whitley…Ronan Keating also sings that amazing song.

Excited for Scotty’s CD–and this tour!! Hope everyone buys abovementioned CD:) Never know what the future holds, but hope it holds great things….for both….

This is BIG News! So proud of Scotty.Went to Nashville for American Idol concert & will go whereever for this one.

I guess you’ve seen the movie Notting Hill, which features that song in one of the scenes? Really lovely as a duet between Scotty and Lauren, too, though. I’m probably less of a Scotty fan than you, more a Lauren fan. But Brad is great, and he’s giving Scotty a great opportunity here. I just listened carefully to Taylor Swift’s “Mean” and cannot believe that she actually plagiarized Brad’s melody in the beautiful song “Then” (the line “And I thought I loved you then” is exactly the notes Swift used for “Why you gotta be so mean?”!!! There’s even some other similarities in her song. Anyway…

I think thats great for him to tour with Brad P but there is no doubt in my mind that Scotty could pull off his own tour and be a total success! He is a shootin star that is going to go far!

I agree he could headline his own tour, but supporting BP will season him and he’ll learn so much and in the right way by touring as an opening act. Bon Jovi opened for Kiss and Ratt and that taught the band a lot. Nearly 30 years later they are still a top ten touring act. I’m wishing that enduring success on Scotty.

I like that…..shootin star!!! I happen to agree with you 100%. Brad Paisley is a very smart man to invite Scotty to join him on tour.

good move for brad p eh..he knows scotty will bring more to him than him alone on tour eh..but i like scotty’s humility, hope he’ll stay that way…brad is huge country star like josh..but see your man did not come out of the country circle as huge or gigantic as when scotty covered it..your man now is knowwn to the whole world even to those who do not know country music genre…

I thnk it is awesome that Brad askd Scotty and think they will compliment each other very well. Scotty has a lot to offer and alot to learn. I love his cd and hope he achieves all that he wants. I will go see the tour if near me

    • Templar

And he’s singing the Star Spangled Banner at the opening of the World Series. Go Scotty!

This is huge for Scotty! To have a country superstar to tour with? Cant get much better than this! Singers always tour together, more ticket sales and not having to do as many tours are a couple of reasons why. Brad must have huge faith in Scotty and his fans to want him on tour!

  • Susan

Great news! I think this kid has such potential, and a super low tone. What a nice, decent guy too!
So happy he is going without Lauren. They were forced together by Idol, and it never clicked with me. We all thought Haley was better by far, and she sang BLUE as well as Lee Ann.

Now this is big! That Brad Paisley put Scotty McCreery on his tour for 2012! This will get him to the big audiences he needs. You wouldn’t have had this 5 or 8 years ago, when the country singers were reluctant to get someone from Idol on their tour. I’m sure Brad will be a good mentor for Scotty on how to handle and guide his new music career.

I think it will wonderful for both of them—Scotty will bring so many of his own fans to the shows, and Brad will be a wonderful mentor for Scotty. Brad is such a huge star, and Scotty will learn so much from him. I think they will enjoy really getting to know each other and each other’s families, also. I think Brad’s decision to ask Scotty to tour with him means that Brad has great faith in Scotty and realizes that Scotty is going to become a HUGE star in his own right!!! I will be at as many of those show as I can possibly get to!!! Can’t wait for the schedule to be released so I can start planning! Love Scotty SO MUCH!

    • Susan

      LOL! You and me both!!

  • Virginia Elrod

I am 75 and just love to sit and listen to Scotty sing. I have your CD in the car with me wherever I go. I voted for him all thru American Idol.Such a nice young well-mannered Christian boy shows us older generation there are still some nice young people in this world. Keep it up Scotty and don’t let anyone change you. Mom and Dad have done a wonderful job with you. Bless you always ! ! !

    • Linda

I am 55 and ditto what you said. Scotty, stay true to yourself and sky is the limit. We are all behind you and wish you the best of luck.

  • Diane

will camp out and pay mega bucks for those tickets!

will pay meg bucks and camp out for those tickets

  • smile4susie

Definitely ready for McPaisley! :) Yes will buy tickets. Knowing Brad is a pro and what his position is in the country music world, then I can easily answer your other question. I think Brad sees in Scotty what he saw in Carrie and Taylor when he asked them to go on tour with him, natural music artistry! Not only that but how many 17 yr. olds, soon to be 18, have you heard of, that so many people admire and respect! Scotty has rare qualities in someone so young. I don’t know Scotty or his family yet I feel like I’ve known them all my life. Why is that! Because that’s the kind of people they are and they make everyone feel that way. Also Scotty and Brad will be good for each other. Scotty will help Brad bring in a larger fan age spread and Scotty will have the advantage of Brad’s tour expertise and fan base. Needless to say, this is an amazing opportunity for Scotty and these opportunities just keep pouring in for him! Scotty’s “in it to win it”! :) He and his family are truly Blessed and I’m so excited for Scotty! I’m not a very big fan, can’t you tell! :))

A legend in the making! Brad Paisley sees a real talent when he meets one. Hope they tour in the Philippines as that is where I’ll be next year if the tour starts in Spring. I’ll go to their tours here in Texas if I am around, too or wherever they are and I am close by. I’ll take along all my friends who are just as adoring of Scotty as I am so I am free to groove (caught AI in San Jose and we were seated near very young kids w/ a very stern looking chaperone) along. Take care of Scotty, Brad and a million thanks to you.
